Bloor gone, Sean Ray taken over. Whether he gets it permanently ,as he is a school teacher ,we shall have to wait and see. Interesting that former managers Adam Hinshelwood,Gary Elphick and Chris Agutter all doing pretty well.
It intrigues me that if Danny Bloor was that brilliant then Worthing could have brought him in as their new manager instead of prising Chris Agutter out of contract with us to be their manager.
Also I don't think that Sean Ray is the answer to our problems as like Phil says he is a school teacher, and as someone said on Facebook today the last time he was manager we got relegated from the Isthmian Premier, and he resigned soon after.
I suppose he will be Caretaker manager though until they appoint someone permanent.
I agree Adrian that Sean is not a long term solution, but I think it is a little unfair to mention the relegation of that year as though it was all his fault, there was a lot of games to catch up on that season due to a fantastic cup run, which incidentally was while he was the player/manager. It cannot be easy to play and manage and have that kind of pressure on you mind while still trying to play.
But whoever the lucky (ha ha) person may be, it is essential that they get full support from all the fans, which I'm sure will be the case, because there is a lot of work to do to stay in this league.
Ideally you want a manager with National League experience who has been there and got the T shirt. However we have had that with Danny Bloor. Dont know about the clubs finances but probably unable to afford one. So probably would go with an up and coming player manager. Somebody like Craig Stone comes to mind ,but again think he works in education and gather wasn’t too keen on the travelling from the Medway Towns.
We shall have to wait and see.
No, I would not go for Razor as a long term solution. I just question whether he has the knowledge beyond our immediate area.
At the risk of stating the obvious, ideally we need to get someone with bags of experience and contacts through managing teams at our level or slightly above. And I have absolutely no idea who that might be !
I guess we advertise and hope the best man comes to the top in the interview.
My fear is that a couple of years ago we had the image of a club ‘going places’ and I sense that has rather tailed off now. The never ending question regarding the future of the ground seems to constantly hang over us and it seems the playing budget is not the top priority. Hardly a great attraction for a prospective manager.
Let’s be honest too…..Danny’s time in office was pretty disappointing and we seemed to come into the season unprepared. Rather a lot of hot air and not too much substance.
We certainly need to improve the level of performance if the attendance isn’t going to drop off once the colder weather arrives. Furthermore the crazy lack of Saturday league fixtures certainly hasn’t helped HUFC fans ‘keep the habit’ of visiting the Pilot Field.
So, whoever is appointed, I think they will have a big job to get us back on track and to bring back the ‘feel good’ factor.
