First of all congratulations to our supporter Chris on winning tonight’s 50/50 with ticket 25251 prize £103.00. As for the game, well life is never dull at the Pilot Field. Freddie scoring after 7 minutes and looking good for the first 20. Then Louis gets sent off ,did not see the incident but apparently justified. Tommie goes in goal and they score three. Half time Billy Vigor goes in goal, looks more than an adequate deputy and Tommie then back in outfield. Fin pulls one back ,we bossed the second half and on another day would have got a draw. Not to be. Onto Cray Saturday.
A disappointing result but a spirited second half after those disastrous minutes before half time.
I felt the red card was harsh…..the Cheshunt forward had toed the ball out of reach before he was caught by Louis. So a yellow card for the foul but it didn’t deny a goal scoring chance. The ball had gone. Doubtless that single incident cost us the match.
There were no favours either from the officials with a couple of crucial offside decisions against Freddie.
All in all a very frustrating defeat in a game where just about everything that could go wrong, did.
It must be to do with the costs and team budgets etc but we never seem to have another squad goalkeeper let alone a goalkeeper on the bench.
This scenario could always have happened especially if Louis got injured or sent off as what happened on Tuesday, and we have nowhere to turn to in these circumstances.
Could we not put the U18 (Academy) goalkeeper on the bench to guard against this sort of thing happening in the future as we rarely ever use all 5 substitutes.
Not sure but I think Louis will only have a 1match ban, and they will probably have to get a goalkeeper in on a short term loan or something?
It does seem common with all clubs at our level though that they can't afford to have a sub goalkeeper just sitting on the bench waiting to come on.
Years ago we used to rely on Sam Adams, saying that I did think that Billy Vigar did do an excellent job in the 2nd half.
