First of all congratulations to our supporter Sandra on winning the 50/50 with ticket 22041 .Prize £203.00 . As for the game I suppose the old saying ‘a win is a win ‘ was appropriate today. Started well but hardly convincing. I expect Folkestone supporters will feel a bit disappointed that they did not get a draw. We move onto King George V’s favourite seaside town Bognor Regis on Saturday.
Very ineffective second half and probably fortunate to get a draw against a much improved Folkestone.
Might have had four in the first quarter of the game when making chances seemed so easy before the second half stagnation.
Anyway, a win was necessary to keep the interest going but the play-offs are looking a long shot with everyone above us winning.
Thought we were a much better side than Folkestone but contrived to turn a straight forward win into a nervy, nail biting second half. Any win is very welcome but Folkestone could easily have got a point from that. Wish we had left our involved passing around the back for our attacking area of the pitch once we were 2 goals ahead. Our continual back passing, to me, only seemed to benefit Folkestone and didn't allow old fogey like myself the chance to relax.
Yes Tim I totally agree that this back passing seems to be more prevalent than ever, and Charlie Grainger is often the busiest player on the pitch. Sam Gale is the main culprit as instead of pushing forward he passes back to the goalkeeper, and you can tell that sometimes Charlie doesn't really want it or doesn't know what to do with it.
No other team I have seen this season seems to play like this, and the 2nd goal conceded against Horsham last week just proves how dangerous it is.
You can't blame the players as it must be instructions given to the them from the manager Chris Agutter, as we played exactly the same way when he was last with us, and this type of play reduced considerably when Gary Elphick took over.
You can tell from the reaction of the crowd when this happens as supporters seem to be completely frustrated from this type of play.
