Not able to follow Adam today but enjoyed occasional score checks during the afternoon.
We're certainly proving a tough team to break down on our travels. Five clean sheets out of six is seriously impressive.
Of course the only team with a better away record come to us on Tuesday....so another very tough home game awaits us. Just hope the supporters turn up in numbers, remain patient and really get behind the team because that's what they deserve.

About as comfortable as it gets, everybody put in a shift and I would imagine same side Tuesday night. Nice to meet an old friend of mine Roger King who I have not seen for 50 years. Only downside was that their toilets both male and female,so I’m told we’re disgusting.Onward and Upward.

Radio Carder made it sound comfortable with good reason. Aside from a couple of moments, we exuded control, although we probably weren't as fluent going forwards as we were at Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday.

Kane's early goal set us on our way nicely, but Louis made a terrific save midway through the first half to keep us in front. The second goal from Alex right on half time might have flattered us a bit at that point, but the excellent move that led to the third by Sam allowed us to play out time with a swagger. Herne Bay did hit the bar late on, but they had looked well beaten long before then,

What an impressive couple of results after last week's disappointing display against Bishop's Stortford. And to think that we were missing Lloyd and Knory today too. I would certainly have settled for mid-table mediocrity when the season kicked off, but we definitely look capable of much more than that so far.

According to Gary on podcast it is a hamstring issue
Be good to have club info other than podcast as not everyone listens and should encourage inclusivity

Excellent result yesterday, great ground as ever. They sure are spending a lot of money on it, plastic pitch, refurbishing clubhouse and new terrace under construction etc. they certainly have their sights set high.

The only downside for me, was the demise of another printed programme. Herne Bay have always produced an excellent programme, it is one I look forward to. Take nothing away from the online one, as that is excellent, but just not the same.

For those of you who have not seen it, here it is...

Just curious Roger. Do you ever actually contact the club themselves about this issue ?  I personally find it easier to listen to a podcast that is packed with information, not just about Hufc news ,interviews etc but local football items in general too. This is something the fans had been wanting for years . It's available on a number of social media platforms and has been for a couple of years or so now ,put together  on a weekly basis by Chris Laverick who not only works hard in the NHS but has a large family to care for .I don't know how he does it , but I'm glad he does   . I know when people are busy with their every day lives its easier and more convenient to listen rather than to have to stop work to read an article.  Yes its personal choice ,but you seem to want to vent your frustrations to the fans.  Maybe a direct approach to the club itself would get you the information you require . Or even better ,encourage other fans to listen to the podcasts. After all ,its easy.If fans can read anything on the Internet then they can listen to the podcssts too and its free ,unlike our local newspaper that doesn't show the same interest in the club as it did decades ago.    Just for the record,  I have copies of your books and they are great to read , but personally I would love to hear an audiobook version ...do you have any plans for that?

No frustrations here
It is great time to be a Hastings United supporter and regularly tune in to radio support
A pre requisite of maintaining the wonderful support we have at present is effective engagement and communication
There are grumbles about loan players, Ollie Black regular injury updates ets
Not all supporters find the excellent podcast to be the wat forward. I did suggest to Chris that it might be helpful to start the podcast with a factual, A week at the Pilot Field, giving a factual news update
Listeners might access this and then choose not to continue
Chris advised that the podcast was not the clubs mouthpiece.
I understand that so it is back to square one
The communication p,ea is not a gripe but a positive plea to help retain support

I'm just curious what response you had from the club,  when you contacted them direct,,,,assuming you have of course ?

yeah had sam robson on from herne bay (Herne Bay Supporters Association)  this week, we did talk about this...very sad as im sure your the same as me..a programme is a essential part of the matchday experience but maybe not of the younger folk.

Luckily theres no signs of that with our club considering that right now but like with many things and people in life...lots are lazy and expect everything instantly and dont realise these things are labour intensive so they want it for free which online tbf is...i suspect hardly anyone will look at them (Thats just my opinion)

If the information was readily available id be doing that allready bookworm, my point about being the clubs mouth piece is that i dont know this info the club does so how could i report it? im just a fan like your just a fan and wrote a book..i might hear about a signing or two coming up but im not going to say anything as thats for the club to offically announce, i found out about dawes injury through asking SUPER gary elphick in a interview...i didnt know before.. honestly chap...you want regular updates etc from the club...get in contact with them and give them a hand with their social media output, have you had any luck with contacting them? they could do with the help more than likely.

In response to your question Windy, Billy has said that he regularly reviews posting to understand the temperature of supporters feelings
He posts on Facebook so clearly monitors this for example. Several recent examples about communication issues and hope that things would improve when recruitment to communication vacancy role recently advertised
When coverage was guaranteed in the Hastings Observer things were easier as there would be a regular catch up

And I completely understand. Your point Chris
You could only give a news update if the material was sent to you
I think we are all agreed

You're more likely to get a write up about Brighton than Utd in that paper these days. I won't buy it anymore.

Agreed, point proven
Simply shows the need for clear, effective communication as previously discussed

Excellent balanced match report on Hern Bay website today along with a 7 minute interview with Manager reflecting on the game

To be fair, not every club at our level publishes an official website match report these days, but not every club at our level can boast an average attendance of over 1,000 either. Is there really nobody amongst our highly impressive support base who would be prepared to pen a few hundred words on each game?

Consider that a rhetorical question, perhaps, but by my reckoning, the Club could also use some extra help on matchdays with the Public Address, social media coverage and Football Web Pages, as well as match reporting. I think that Adam Smith is sometimes left to do the first three of those roles on his own at present, with Pat McCrossan helping when he can, so I’m sure that Adam especially would be delighted to hear from some new volunteers.

And don’t get me wrong. I’m not pointing fingers at anyone who already works to promote the Club in an official or unofficial capacity, or anyone else who has done so in the past. It just feels disappointing that the age-old problem of attracting volunteers persists, despite the large increase in supporter numbers in recent seasons.

Not that my perception of a lack of volunteers excuses the poor levels of communication emanating from the Club though. That’s a whole different problem, of course, and is one that only the Press Officer can reasonably resolve if they choose to.
