So we are up against AFC Dunstable tomorrow, they play at the same level as us, so would like to think this is a winnable game.
Not sure when we last played them, as they have gone through changes and played in a few different leagues in the last few years.
But here is a prog cover and a personal match pic (not very exciting), from a game on 28th December 1992, when we were then Hastings Town. We won 3-0, with a crowd of 582. I would like to think we will have a bigger attendance tomorrow.
More recently than you think, mate. Just 2 seasons back, FA Trophy at their place and we won 4-0. This weekend could be interesting because they are on a very similar run to ours, doing ok in the league and still in the FA Cup.
Beat me to it Simon, I’m sure Chris wants to win every game but would have thought Tuesday night would be more important followed by Chippenham next Saturday.
I agree the Ashford game is far more important. I had no idea about Dunstable 2 years ago, everything was a blur back then. I was in Pembury hospital having blood transfusions after collapsing due to stomach ulcers at the time. Football was the last thing on my mind.
Tuesday night is an important match especially as Ashford have had a series of good results against us over the last 2-3 seasons. Would be nice to win every match but our squad isn't the biggest. Might be a few changes tomorrow.
Don't think the ref had to send their 'keeper off especially as Dave appeared to initiate the incident. As Dunstable had not threatened up to the sending off don't think it changed the result. Not sure why Dunstable made such a fuss about the penalty as it looked a clear trip on Tom and obvious pen. Their players attitude to the officials was very poor and could easily have resulted in more red cards. Good to see Jack Bates, who played so well in the FA Youth Cup match, make such a promising debut. It looked as if Dave Martin and Lloyd Dawes (again) both picked up injuries-hope they are minor and both are available on Tuesday.
Spoke to a couple of our supporters who said their player did not touch Tom. Thought the game a bit feisty at times but overall we deserved to win. Congratulations to Pete Knight who won £159.00 on the 50/50 with ticket 38091.
Defiantly think their keeper deserved a straight red for his reaction, although it was really unnecessary of Dave to have caused that which led up to it. Did feel somewhat sorry for Dunstable as without a back up goalkeeper it was always going to be hard with an outfield player filling in. The penalty looked dubious to me sitting in the main stand but I thought they deserved one at the other end not long after. Really impressed with Jack Bates. Didn't know who he was or anything about him until now, and thought he defiantly deserved a goal and looks a very promising player. Overall thoroughly deserved win. Disappointed to see the referee not hurry the Dunstable players up after the red card and having to speak to the linesman on a few occasions and even book Sam Hasler which I found beyond extraordinary. Great team performance and can't wait for Ashford on Tuesday.
