Long before the days of the internet and social media...

Who remembers the fixture posters you would see plastered all over town?

The first one is from the 1960s, slightly  before my time.

The second, is from the 1970s.

I always remember seeing them on the wall of Joe's Cafe in Silverhill.

These two are on the wall at the club house of Sheppey United. I took these pictures about five years ago.

Remember these well. The barber Bill Barham always had one in his shop window on the Ridge

And smaller versions were in Maidstone and District buses
One of the featured posters promotes the Duke Trophy match against the British Police
This was an annual event for a run of two years only and we beat the police twice
Where is the trophy now?
Did we keep it?
Should the fixture be resurrected if only for the good natured crowd banter it evoked?

Yes I also have both programmes and also saw both matches.
All we need to do is to track the trophy down and the annual fixture could be resurrected.
I guess the team would now be stronger than the Met Police
