Great to hold on tonight after a late scare. And in the spirit of the thread... my uncle is currently suffering with kidney stones & my dog has just started a new job. So I won’t make the fa cup game.
First 45 minutes not the greatest, but two excellent strikes in added time.Second half Ollie Black scored first for the club, but last ten minutes was squeaky bum time as they pulled two back. 3 points in the bag. Not sure how Burgess Hill are bottom of the league. Hope all those who are ill recover quickly and that our supporters blood pressure soon returns to normal.
As Phil says, Burgess Hill didn't look a bottom of the table side and had the better of much of the first half without looking like scoring. Very pleasing then to end the half 2-0 up with good finishes from Dave Martin and Sam Hasler. We created lots of chances in the second half and it was only desperate defending which kept the score to 3. BH got back in the game after the ref awarded them a free kick for what seemed a perfectly fair tackle and a good strike and deflection led to a goal. A second goal soon followed and it was a relief to hear the final whistle.
Not a bad performance and a deserved win. Ben was fortunate to stay on and the ref didn’t seem to want to give us a penalty despite 2 clear fouls in a 3 second spell at one point. There keeper was a right tart ok to come out and catch feet first, but when challenged he temporarily died!!!! Justice that he let the ball through his legs for our 2nd goal. My main concern was the drop off in performance in the last 20 minutes.
