Signs weren't good when the very average ref failed to award a free kick for the lunge at Sam with Ramsgate scoring from the loss of possession.
Ramsgate moved the ball quickly and kept Hastings pinned in their own half with much of our sideways passing having a look of desperation. The speedy Ramsgate wingers gave our full backs a torrid time and we were perhaps a bit lucky to only concede 3 in the first half.
We did much better in the second half with Lloyd Dawes making a welcome appearance.
Certainly the artificial pitch played a part in our performance and injuries to Sam and Gary Elphick were a further worry.
Difficult to argue Tim ,Sam definitely fouled but Ramsgate better team in first half. Much improved in second half ,think Lloyd Dawes will be an asset when fully fit. Hope this is not sour grapes and I know ref has a difficult job but today’s was poor. Whitehawk will be a 6 pointer on Monday.
Wasn’t able to make it, however seeing comments about ref it needs to be put into perspective, but being so low down the Pyramid we are going to have to get used to poor refs, there is a crisis in the low number of refs and the inevitable knock on is refs that used to only be park football level, are finding themselves doing a level that is beyond them. We just have to accept it and not use it as an excuse.
Not making excuses Chris because over the 90 minutes we did not deserve to win. As for the officials always reminded of a story the late Peter High once told me. He was running the line at a football league game and when he came off the back of his shirt was covered in spit……..wouldn’t do their job for all the tea in China.
