Awful weather ,cold ,wet and grey .......after 45 minutes I think even the most ardent supporter was wishing they were sat at home in the warm. It was not a half to remember. Then came the moment that made the trip worthwhile , Ryan Worrall shot home from 25 yards with an excellent goal. Game then livened up with scoring chances at both ends. However 3 points puts up top of the league.....bring on Whitehawk on Tuesday.
As Phil says, Ryan's goal made the trip and the soaking worth while. Interesting having 2 of the league's best midfielders not in the side at the moment. Gary Elphick excellent again. Great to have a top centre half in the side.
A tremendous strike from Ryan was indeed the only real highlight of a pretty ordinary match. To be honest, the first half was grim viewing; Ben seemed isolated up front as target man and far too often failed to find a teammate, meanwhile Kenny had about six touches, all with his back to goal. On a more positive note, Louis and the back four passed the ball between themselves admirably for about 25 of the 45 minutes.
Surprisingly there was no introduction of Jack or DR7 to liven things up, however, it wasn't long before Ryan did just that with the one moment of magic. Thankfully the game improved as Sevenoaks pushed for an equaliser and we looked dangerous on the break with Sammy coming close a couple of times.
OK, no-one could argue that this was a thriller but in difficult conditions on a 3G pitch it was a very effective performance and three hard won points.
A few more creative ideas wouldn't come amiss though !
Thought it was a solid performance won with a fantastic strike. I would not level any criticism at anyone today as the conditions were atrocious and the only aim must have been to secure 3 points which we did. Would love to see Pope and Rodari play up top together, as I believe defences in this league would not be able to cope.
