Well that was a feisty old game, did not see Ollies sending off but don’t think you could argue with the other two.Thought we were the better team throughout and deserved our win. Think Benn Ward and Tom Chalmers are really improving and obviously learning a lot from the senior players. Congratulations to our supporter Craig winning £105 on the 50/50 with ticket 35873.
Harsh sending off for Ollie, yellow card at worst. He swung hard at a dropping ball and missed completely, catching the Three Bridges player on the way down, who then proceeded to squeal like a stuck pig, but in reality he was hardly touched!
We played fairly well, but I would like to see us be a bit more ruthless and score a few more goals. Too often our midfielders first thought is to play the ball backwards.
Saying that Ryan Worralls MOM was fully deserved.
Proper match that!
Red cards, yellow cards, some serious tackles, a penalty, a slightly bonkers ref and some cracking football.
Agree we should have been more ruthless and doubled our score in the last 15 minutes but great entertainment anyway.
Tough one at Sevenoaks on Saturday on their 3G pitch..... I’m sure we will be there in force !
Mick you ve just reminded me that the ref booked Kenny and then rescinded it and booked Jake for a foul which it never was!
Jake made a fair challenge with one of their defenders with both hitting the ball simultaneously and because their defender once again screamed like a baby the ref deemed it a foul. Very poor referee I thought.
Thought it was one of those games where the referee gets most of the key decisions right - my immediate reaction to Ollie's challenge was that it was a straight red - while completely losing control of the contest as a whole. A better referee would've taken firmer action when their number 9 dumped Tom Chalmers into the advertising hoardings early on - clear yellow, I thought - and probably had a much shorter report to write afterwards.
It was a game of several parts:
First two minutes: ball and grass do not meet.
Next ten: ball and grass meet, and we're much better at playing football. A comfortable victory awaits.
Next forty-five or so: in the light of imminent defeat, Three Bridges decide to rough us up a bit. This initially goes well, but then...not so much. Lots and lots of refereeing with occasional outbreaks of football. The ball is in play perhaps one minute out of every five, a bit like American football.
The rest: game over.
The sort of match that's highly entertaining if you win it and really bloody aggravating if you don't. A bit reminiscent of that bad-tempered game against whoever-it-was (East Grinstead?) when Daniel got sent off a couple of a seasons ago; even if it doesn't really suit us, we can take care of ourselves in an ugly game much better these days. Even so, that save from Louis Rogers just after Ollie's red card was absolutely vital: if that goes in, it's potentially a different and less fun evening.
Been very impressed with our younger players so far who must benefit from playing with the likes of Elphick, Stone, Adams and Pogue. Great to see Davide Rodari looking so fit and Jack Dixon looks in great form. Yes, that was an important save by Louis!
I never get the opportunity to attend many midweek matches so I didn't attend yesterday's game but will be at Whitehawk but there always seems to be something about them compared to Saturday's which I find different - in this case seeing Three Bridges have 2 red cards and 1 for us. I was very surprised to hear Ollie being sent off as he played brilliantly on Saturday but since I was not there I've gathered there's mixed thoughts about the decision so I'll allow others to give their opinion.
Nice to also hear Ben and Davide getting on the scoresheet and what a moment for him after not playing for so long. Good to also hear 400 people being there. Let's keep the run going and bring on Sevenoaks on Saturday.
I was quite a long way away but the challenge looked reckless to me. Let’s say people have been sent off for less. Embarrassingly, none of the people in our group realised he had got a red card for a good few minutes until someone had a count up. Chris Kamara lives on.
I will say there number 7 is a quality tom daley 10 out of 10 for the dives and the scream to
Get ollie sent off... ollie misjudged the bouch of the ball and got the man, for me yellow all day long.. but we know three bridges game .. roll around scream like you have been hit by a tank! and convince the ref it was worse then it was ...but for me we showed going down to 10 men that it won't affect us.. we are a team that will fight for each other in any situation...
