Yup, this should be a good test of how far we have come and a boisterous, noisy Tuesday night crowd will help to make it a difficult game for Chesham.
I really do hope we give the FA Cup the importance it deserves. There is serious prize money to be won and plenty of opportunity for headline-making giant killing and while promotion is our aim, I think we should give it our all in the FA Cup.
Fair enough to play weakened teams in all the other cup competitions but if we have just a small chance of recreating the cup fever of 2012/13 we really should try to take it.
Thought a few of you on here might find this interesting, dug out an old programme from 27th September 1947, Chesham United 5 v 7 Hastings & St. Leonards. (As we were known then). Anyone know how many times we have met in the past? Would settle for a 7-5 win tomorrow night, might end up similar if it goes to penalties!
Wasn't at the game tonight so will allow others to give their thoughts, but from following on social media it sounded like a decent match that either side had a chance of winning although apparently there were a few decisions that didn't go our way. Regardless of that however, happy we're in the hat and looking forward to whoever we face next.
Once again the game itself was interesting if not exactly thrilling with both teams struggling to make many clear cut chances. After 10 minutes it looked like we might be overrun but the longer it went on the more we grew into the game. We did get away with two efforts hitting the post with Louis well beaten but other than that we probably edged the half chances.
Really encouraging performances from the younger players again, but our lack of goals is becoming a bit of a concern. And good nerves shown by the penalty takers to see us into the next round.
Not sure about these decisions that went against us. Nothing much springs to mind.
Great noise again, prompting one of my wife's Facebook friends to ask 'What is going on at the Pilot Field tonight, I have never heard it that loud before.'
Let's have another home draw.
