First 15 minutes we were on top then seemed to lose our way , until last 10 minutes. Sevenoaks not a bad side and theif second goal was a cracker. Suppose it’s a sign of a good side where we are not at our best and still get a point. What about our support today , must have been well over a hundred there. Trust you all got home safely in the fog on the A21.
What a strange game that was! Decent first 20mins, okay next 25, bloody dreadful second half where we struggled to get in their half never mind muster an effort on goal, and then battered them last 10mins. New lad did okay but very difficult to pick anyone else out as all below par particularly poor old Lanre! so my MOM Kenny Pogue who turned the game when he came on. Well done Kenny 👏
That’s two back to back average performances now but still 4 points in the bag so really starting to believe now as the team showing great character. Think we are badly missing Lovatt at the minute though and need him back ASAP.

As Phil says, we played well for 15 minutes and then were second best until we went 2-0 down. Kenny's introduction gave Ben some much needed support up front and we started to put some pressure on the resolute Sevenoaks defence in the last 5 minutes. Ridiculous penalty decision but a great penalty from Ben. Hastings' playing style at its worst today. The only passing being done was around our back 4 and then it was the long ball to an isolated Ben Pope.
Well, I think we used up our "Get out of jail free" card today !
Felt we were marginally the better side until they went ahead but from that point, late in the first half, until our opener, late in the second half, we were as poor as I have seen us all season.
Not sure what went so wrong today. Was it the unfamiliar 3G pitch that somehow affected us ? Surely the introduction of Gerald in place of Jake wasn't the key factor ? Who knows ? Whatever it was we were AWFUL for most of the second half !
In fact it wasn't until Kenny scrambled in our opener that we seemed to show any urgency or interest for getting back into the game.
Ultimately it was a VERY generous penalty decision than allowed us to nick a point, which in normal circumstances I may have felt guilty about. However the blatant time wasting, diving and conning of the referee by the home team made me feel that maybe justice had been served.
Bottom line though......while I understand some may take pleasure from taking something from a poor showing today, I feel we have rather hit a low in terms of PERFORMANCE and at a bad time. We have four very tough matches to come and we simply must find a way to up the level of performance to the level we have achieved for much of this season. I would hate it to go wrong from here.
COYU !
Getting promotion is not about playing fantastic football every week.It is about sometimes grinding out results when all seems lost.Today was one of those days. With Ashford losing, this result was even sweeter.coyu's
