Really looking forward to this game,so little football at the Pilot Field in the last few weeks , have almost forgotten where the ground is.So for a bit of fun lets have your prediction for the result and attendance. No prizes for the winner although there are some out of date mince pies in the cupboard.
My prediction United 3 East Grinstead 1 Attendance 654.
21 goals in two league cup ties against EG in two seasons, 9-2 and 12-3. Totally meaningless and unrepresentative games. And in three league games in between - games that matter, points at stake, drew one and lost two. They did the double over us last season and that cost us runners up spot.
I'll settle for 1-0 in front of a man, his dog and me on New Years Day. ๐จ๐๐
don't count your chickens like many others ive seen us play bottom clubs and those that have not won all season and think easy one this 1 0 will do me.
East Grinstead players and management getting all the motivation they need from reading some of our posts. Need to remember, as Simon points out, we have lost 8 points to East Grinstead in our last 3 league matches against them. If fully fit, hope Ben Pope starts to give us that bit of physicality up front.
A lot of similarities with the Chichester game....the only difference being that it took us most of the first half to go four up then whereas it took 13 minutes today. Ridiculous !!
Not sure if they were awful or we were superb in that period, probably a bit of each. Again the second half felt like an anticlimax, but we came pretty close on a number of occasions to grabbing two or three more. Obviously I can't be critical but it would be good to see us keep the high level of intensity against these lesser teams....we certainly seemed to be coasting in the second half today.
Thouught Jack was superb in that opening quarter today with beautifully weighted passes that spilt the E.G. defence time and again. Other than that there were pretty decent performances throughout the team..... that said it's only fair to give some credit to E.G. who battled hard and made us work today. It would have been easy to throw the towel in after quarter of an hour and concede double figures again.
