Just heard the sad news that 'Rocksteady' Keith Fitz-Hugh has sadly passed away, Keith was a long time Hastings United fan, probably not as well known as some as he didn't seem to venture into the world of social media too much, but was a regular face at The Pilot Field. He was however, also quite well known locally for his love of early Reggae, Ska and Rocksteady music,,,, his particular favourites being Desmond Dekker and Prince Buster. Keith could not believe his ears when a few years ago we stopped playing The Specials version of Enjoy Yourself(it's later than you think), over the tanoy, in favour of the original Prince Buster version at the end of a Utd victory, come full time at the Pilot Field, I only got to know him myself over the last year or so, but he was a lovely guy and will be sadly missed by his friends and family. Keith's family are asking to mention that Keith's funeral will take place on Friday 13th December at 13:15 at Hastings Crem and anyone wishing to pay their respects to him will be more than welcome ,,,,, RIP Keith,,, it was nice getting to know you,,,, all be it far too brief 🙏
John, remember him well, think he used to ride a bicycle and park it just inside the ground. Barbara was only saying that we had not seen him so much recently. R.I.P. Keith.
That's him Phil,,,, an absolute gent,, really nice guy,,, as I say, just wish I'd met him years ago,,, so into his music and the music scene locally,, what he didn't know about the groups that appeared on the pier and at the Witch Doctor in the 60s,,,, well 🙏👍.
What a lovely well attended funeral. Lovely to meet Keith's sons family and friends, he was clearly loved. The sons at times accompanied Keith to games at the Pilot Field,,, apparently he spoke often about a lovely lady called Barbara, I wonder who that was🤔😂. Keith's other team was Liverpool and it seemed very fitting that he was 'seen off' to Gerry Marsdens 'You'll never walk alone'. RIP Keith 🙏
