A good point in a physical game away from home. a game of few chances. Unlucky with Pope hitting the post on half time. Think we edged it but probably a fair result. One of those games where at the end of the season we could look back and say what a crucial point. Well battled lads
By my reckoning this was Chris’s 100th game in charge and think that he maybe be disappointed that we did not win.As Tim says it was quite a physical game but we had most of the play up to the 18yard box but just could not finish today. One hugh positive is the defending..10 times better than last season.
For those interested Chris’s record is played 100 won 53 drawn 22 lost 25.
I think Tim it’s more likely we will say 2 pts dropped. Let’s not nice it up it was a dire game with not one clear cut chance where you would say “should have scored that”. If we don’t find a way to score soon, the top spot may disappear into the distance. As a game it was one of the worse games I have seen.
I agree it wasn't the best game i've seen but I prefer a 0 0 draw to a 5 4 defeat. Last season we would of lost that kind of game. Here's how I see it. Win all 19 home games draw all 19 away games 76 pts. We beat three bridges away so we are on target. Surely it's all about gaining promotion. Still unbeaten 1 goal conceded. Great start to the season. Defence solid. Ben Pope once again worked hard and was immense in holding the ball up. Playing like this will give us more chance of reaching our goal of promotion than recent seasons. Stones and Elphick awesome at the back. Since Gary Elphick joined last third of last we have not lost a league game in normal time. Aggy and his staff have addressed last seasons issues of conceding too many goals.
Agree it wasn’t the best game ,but don’t think it was the worse either, Herne Bay away last season was dire.
Can I mention our support ,must have been 50 or 60 of us there today. VCD previous highest crowd 81,today 130.That’s support.
Phil that was us, Herne Bay were happy, I’m talking about both sides being dire. We will probably need near to 90 pts to win the league near to 2.3 pts per game
Chris B-haven’t commented since the Chichester game and we’ve put in 4 very VERY good performances-IMO a very poor and negative fan, I’m sure last year you were moaning about the defence conceding too many goals but yet you don’t praise them when they’ve only conceded 1 in the league. Get behind them and stop f*****g moaning-if you don’t like it you know where the door is.
Fair result. A little more happened in their area than ours but both defences cancelled each other out. Neither side looked like winning. Good to see our defence keep Charley MacDonald quiet. Different side goes top with every round of games - Sevenoaks today. Surprised to see Whitehawk lose at home to Phoenix Sports.
Poor game but that's not too bad a result. Overall, one conceded in 7 games is remarkable but we could do with scoring a few more. Bit concerning that Lanre didn't come out for the 2nd half. No game next weekend which gives him time to get sorted.
Hastings 123 what did I say about Chichester? Hardly validates your comments, and I commented on Worthing, so no need to get personal especially when factually incorrect!!!
Let me re-phrase that. You haven’t made a POSITIVE comment since the Chichester game, although since then we should’ve beat a team from the league above twice if it weren’t for poor officials, comfortably beat Three Bridges and embarrassed Whitehawk. But as soon as we draw 0-0 away to a team that will be play-off contenders you jump straight behind your keyboard and call your self a fan!
Disappointing not to win especially as Ashford keep on winning. Hopefully we will keep on improving during the season and get the balance right between relying too much on our defence and goal scoring. Don't know where Ashford's latest goal scorer has come from but David Smith is banging in loads of goals.
We beat Whitehawk 5 comments, draw with VCD 13 comments. Coupled with the fact we’ve played 5 of the top 8 Already just sums this place up and is the reason I’ll no longer be posting. A sewer full of negativity.....
Have not seen any away games this season but seen the home games and some good performances although I'd probably say the football is not quite as dynamic as the last 2 seasons. It is great to see lots of goals from the team you support rather than a defensive masterclass for many supporters. From an entertainment point of view you'd probably have to say that it might be more exciting watching Ashford at the moment than Hastings but we probably have more chance of promotion conceding less goals over a long season but I too think we need to score more goals. But credit to shore up the defence which has looked like a wall from the games I've seen at home. Its always easier to post when a team does not get 3 points. Its easier to complain than it is to complement good service. This is a fans forum and supporters will express their views good or bad, positive or negative. It happens all over football and this must be the most tame forum given the support Hastings get. Probably best for managers and players to just get on with their jobs and not look on here so Hastings123 is making the right decision and to follow his on advice you know where the door is
