Looking for a positive from today's game have , after a lot of thought, come up with at least it was only a friendly.

Thought we really lacked that confidence in our football today, they were quite a physical side with a good press but played good passing stuff themselves did malden...just second best to the ball a lot of the time. Its a friendly so its not the end of the world and all the boys got a good run out so no great shakes

Windy day and a few players missing but not a game that will live long in the memory. Trust Chris will get it right next week.

I do hope you are right Phil because we are light years away from where we were this time last year and from what I can see only one player was missing from our strongest eleven, albeit at least two of those players are nowhere near good enough. Ill reserve any judgement until a month in but the manager has an awful lot of work to do and the squad looks 2 or 3 quality players short at the minute.

We are 2 or 3 quality players short, the squad is not as strong as this time last year, everyone can see that, the manager has a lot of work to do and I’ll reserve judgement for a month. So please explain what you mean by making my mind up Chris? After 40 years of support I am intrigued by your statement.

first of all john i cant compete with the number of years you've watched Hastings...good on you sir.  i think we could be in a much better position this year as we don't have as many in my opinion mercenaries in the team and needed to get the squad thinned out, i think with Ben pope, Daniel and Davide we have a fantastic front 3. i think that we will be more solid defensively this season and just hope we can keep the injuries down. Our job is to be that 12th man to get behind the boys. I dont see the doom and gloom john, i think this will be our year mate.

Sam Crutwell, Howlet Mundle, Bamba, Christie, Mongoy, Golding, Ibrahim, Beale, Vickers, Ogboe, Horlick.....which ones do you think were mercenaries Chris?

Only my 2nd friendly this season but went today thinking it would be taken just like a league game ready for next week so came away disappointed. The wind certainly did not help the game but overall thought we were outclassed by the visitors and lacked fitness and physicality compared to them which is a worry given the league we are in. On the mercenary issue I'd imagine we have more this season as we have more older players that probably demand more money and one in particular apparently only goes where the money is. Fingers crossed for the season and next week though

Can’t see that anyone is panicking, just pre season opinions from long term supporters. You usually get them on an independent supporters forum funny enough. Confident we’ll pick up the 3 points next Saturday against a team we have beaten twice in cup competitions in recent years.

From what I saw today, we are going to give away silly goals because our keeper cannot play the way he is being asked too. No idea what starting line up will be next week. Also cannot see how we will get within 15 points of winning the league, tactically we are not good enough.
