Nice to see that Lanre Azeez has resigned. Thought last season he got better every game.

Lots of rumours from supporters today that Crutts is not being offered a contract for next season and is leaving the club. Let’s  hope they are just rumours 🤞🤞

Absolutely shocked by the decision for the club to not offer Crutts a new contract. Crutts is one of the best home grown talents that this club has seen for years! Such a shame but hope he goes on to play the decent level he deserves!

At the HUFC Supporters Club Meeting I heard that Sam Cruttwell is retiring from football and focusing on becoming a lawyer?

Only the club and the player know what has really happened so we eagerly await the upcoming club statement on this as well as the other players who have been announcing their departures on social media over the past week.

Congratulations to Dan Hull who has been promoted from the academy into the first team squad for the coming season.

Hearing Tom Climpson may be off to the USA. Good luck to him if true. Has never let Hastings down 👏

Not many players can play left back, centre back and midfield all to a good standard and left footed as well. Sam would be difficult to replace if he does leave.

Sorry to see Crutts leave (if he has). Should
have been one of the first names on the team sheet every week (even if he wasn't the best at training).

Latest update below as more players confirmed as leaving today.

Take what you like from today’s statement on the Observer website but don’t think think you need to be a brain surgeon to work out it’s highly unlikely both Daniel and Adam will be here next season as well.

Remember reading comments end of the season at how Cray and Horsham (and Folkestone / Lewes) had been promoted off the back of 3 years of solidity within the club and a settled squad. Not sure how all these departures are going to help us go the same way. Some had to go without a doubt but really surprised with some of the names off, but have to trust.....

Surely if Observer to be believed then Rodari Ajakaye and Lovett will only leave for money, so at this point they should be listed as staying.

The Club can confirm that the following players will not be at Hastings Utd for the 2019-20 season:

• Charlie Horlock
• Jahmal Howlett-Mundle
• Sam Cruttwell
• Jordy Mongoy
• Antonio Walker-Barth
• Jamie Fielding
• Hassan Ibrahiym
• Tom Climpson
• Sonny Dullaway
• Sinn’Kaye Christie

Regarding departures the Gaffer explained, ‘Firstly i'd like to place on record my thanks and very best wishes to all the players for their efforts and commitment. Secondly a huge good luck to both Jamie Fielding moving to Stevenage and Tom Climpson starting a football scholarship in U.S.A. I can advise that Sam Cruttwell was offered a new deal at the Club which would also of allowed him to officially pursue his Futsal interest but he chose not to take up the Club's offer.

The Gaffer added, ‘Sam Beale is currently exploring the possibility of playing his football in Asia-an interest that I wholeheartedly support and wish him all the very best in, however if Bealey is unsuccessful in his pursuit of gaining a professional contract abroad he has expressed a desire to return to the Pilot Field.’

The Club can also advise that Dajon Golding is also likely to be off to pastures new, although at present he remains under contract to the Club.

The Club can also confirm that the following players will be staying/joining Hastings Utd for the 2019-20 season:

• Louis Rogers
• Ollie Black
• Dan Hull
• Gary Elphick
• Davide Rodari
• Jack Dixon
• Ben Pope
• Sammy Adams
• Aaron Condon
• Tommy Taylor
• Charlie Curran
• Lanre Azeez
• Ansu Janneh
• Daniel Ajakaiye
• Adam Lovatt
• James Pool

Explaining the players retained Chris Agutter commented, ‘We felt we needed a smaller squad numbers wise whilst building on the positives from last season....we believe continuity to move forward is key, therefore I’m delighted that 14 of a potential 18 man squad going into next season are well versed in the way we want to play, understand how we operate on and off the pitch, and have last seasons experiences both negatives and positives under their belts.

Agi continued, ‘We are pretty sure that over the coming weeks we will be adding a maximum of two players to the ‘staying list’, both will be defensive reinforcements as we aim to improve the average defensive records that have blemished Hastings United League campaigns for the last 3 to 4 years

Really disappointed that Cruttwell is going, was one of the players that I'd always stick in the starting 11. Not always a man of the match performance from him but without doubt a player that could change a game and influence a positive result as much as anyone in the squad. Find it odd that he said he was not offered a new contract yet the club say the opposite so a falling out? Shame a local player that is very talented doesn't fit the young, local and upcoming club moto.
Thought we would go into next season settled but the changes are far more than I thought and I am not sure we are stronger than this time last year. Time will tell but the club comes across as more interested in trying to get players to the next level and put them in the shop window than it is on promotion and with Fielding going for no money it is very strange as I dont care how many players go up the ladder I just want the club I support to. It is great for players that do move higher and well done but the club need to concentrate on getting promotion as much as getting scouts through the door which an article recently boasted about

Looking at it Cliff the club said he was offered a ‘deal’ not specifically a fixed protected contract so probably both correct. Another club will probably think he’s worth a full contract so presume he declined the non contract arrangement offered.

Isn't Stone the intended CB partner?

Presume a possible current starting 11 of

Gk - Rogers
RB - Elliott
LB - Black / possibly Beale if he doesn't go to Asia
CB - Elphick
CB - Stone
CM - Dixon
CM - Lovatt
AMC - Adams
AML - Condon
AMR - Azeez / Rodari
ST - Ajakaiye / Pope

Looks very decent to start with. Maybe a LB if Beale goes?

Tbh can’t see much point in looking at the squad, as historically we have changed half of it by the end of October.

Think Stone is a midfielder. Looks like that's where he played for Tonbridge, contributed a few a goals too.

Manager at my work is involved at Eastbourne Boro and in his words "that's a really f***ing good signing"

What a waste of talent, at least Jordi has moved up. Crutts wants to concentrate on Futsal.

Think it’s very sad that such a talented young man has given it all up for a Mickey Mouse sport and a county league club.

Sinn’kaye signed for Merstham. Really rated Christie in the short time he was with us and can only guess how good he may have become playing alongside Elphick for a season.
