If not for the demise of Thamesmead, think we would have been over the line... ...let's just win the playoffs. Third time lucky after Folkestone and Dorking...
Quite right Vernon ....this 'points per game' issue could prove to see its ultimate farce yet, with various clubs dropping out left right and center in due course....no doubt the powers that be will still be deducting points long after this farcical season is ended as well.... you cant really make it up to be honest . Yep all we can do is win ...anything else now is not good enough anyway . Good luck to all the players and the management team involved !
The utter farce of applying the points per game to determine promotion after the play offs are complete is evident for all to see.
Haywards Heath go into what should be a competitive game with Horsham tonight knowing they have zero chance of getting promotion. Similarly we could win tonight but be in the same position as Haywards Heath in the final.
Ok, I appreciate the ground of a play off winner may not be meet the required standard which will change things. However the sheer lack of certainty about the whole outcome is no basis to play what effectively is a cup final.
It would have been infinitely more sensible just to scrap the play offs altogether this season and promote the seven league winners and the five runners up with the highest points per game.
I'm sure it will be a great night at the PF tonight whatever the outcome, however I'm not sure there will be the same enthusiasm for the final if results go against us and promotion appears to be a remote possibility even if we win.
That’s what I have been saying for last 6 months, the people who made this decision, should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute. It would even have been better if the top 3 ppg play off winners had gone up and place 4 at home to 7 and 5v6 at least then everyone in playoffs could have gone up. If we win tonight I for one won’t go on Friday if we can’t go up.
