They lost both their last away games against Hythe and Champions Cray with 1-3.
And we? To be sure we have to win both games ( last against Greenwich ) If we want to be second in the final tabel but then Horsham has to loose away to Guernsey ( who are in relegation trouble) I think if that game ends in a draw and we win both games goal difference will be decisive.
So a big game and will there be around 600 coming up to TPF? to see a very important match.
COYU'sssssssssss!

Big,big game.I believe Ashford are bringing two coachloads so maybe a crowd of 7-800. Extra programmes have been printed and don’t forget your 50/50 ticket, could be a bumper prize. There will be presentations to the Player of the Season and Goal of the Season, which Alan Sutton a long term supporter has kindly agreed to do.
So come along and cheer the lads on.
I don't think we can go up now - very dissapointing! Can't make the 2pts per game.
I don't think all is necessarily lost on that front. Often the second placed side does not win the play-offs. Should we get three points next week we will have a chance. The odds though are certainly stacked against us. If we get as far as winning the final we will likely need three fourth or fifth placed sides to win their respective playoffs in order for us to make promotion.
As for the game today, I thought Ashford looked a better side than us. They were stonger, quicker on the ball and were more canny. I like the way they played their football. I thought Jay May had a good game. He was with us for a while and showed (again) that a target man who wins balls in the air and chests it down for runners is an effective tactic at our level of football.
As for us, yes some of the positives but a lot of the negatives of this interesting season were again present. It would be tedious to catalogue those again, suffice it to say that our obsession with back passing led once again to an error which resuled in Louis Rogers being sent off. It was fortunate that did not cost us the game.
Time to make up with Charlie Horlock, or is it Sam Adams in goal for the play-offs?

You'd find that the lower placed play off sides might not even bother fielding a strong side, if they can't get promoted.
Well that might be so. I remember commenting at the start of the season that it is truly absurd that the luminaries of the football establishment could devise a system when in in a supposedly competitive game one side has no incentive to win - or even an incentive to lose; since it could be seen as an advantage for the following season to lose and so have a rival promoted!
Agree with your post, Geoff.
Ashford did look stronger and more committed than us today for some reason. That said we did create quite a few good positions to score despite generally losing the midfield battle today. Clearly winning these play offs is no foregone conclusion....and after that, who knows with this bizarre points-per-match situation.
Yet again a significant number of changes in today's line up and no starting place for Crutts, which will forever be a mystery to me. He provides a strength and quality that some of the younger players lack and would be one of my first names on the team sheet every week...however well he 'trains'.
Was Davide REALLY MotM today ? Yes, he knocked two balls over the line but there were some far more heroic efforts today.
Tough on Louis who played pretty well today.....Let's hope Charlie is going to be in the mood for some play off matches!
I prefer the old system of 3 up and 3 down! Never been a fan of play offs anyway. As far as I concerned, if you cant finish in the top 3 your not good enough to go up!
Ashford were the better side today so if we play them in the play offs will need to play better. Last time we won the play offs we beat Dover despite being outplayed by them a few weeks before. Thought Gary Elphick was our best player despite his mistake at the end. Sam Adams was very good but disappointing that Ashford came out with the ball from so many challenges. Our different formation didn't work in the first half and we looked better when Jamie came on at half time. Having Sam Cruttwell on the bench was strange-surely a better player than many who started. Ashford looked much better than when we played them earlier-can't see them slipping up against Haywards Heath next week
I’ve said this before, but if we were not denied the 6 points that we almost certainly would have taken from thamesmead we could make 2 points per game. We are in the position that we will have a worse ppg than a team in another league that have dropped exactly the same number of points. Doesn’t sound fair to me.
Jack was my MoM today, he took a lot of stick and kept his cool and work his socks off in midfield. I can’t see the difference between Louis and Ashford's centre half as regards red cards. He was last man and wiped Danny out but only saw yellow. Draw was probably the right result.
Good atmosphere, largest crowd for 4 years, Faversham 2015. From what I saw probably Fair result. Referee told us that as Louis’s foul was outside the box it was a sending off.....inside the area it would have been a yellow card and a penalty.
Rumour has it amongst the much better informed Ashford fans that the points per game issue is no longer an issue anyway as some of the teams can't get higher league status anyway... Plus there are some clubs being relegated more than 1 league .. eg Ebbsfleet.... Just keep trying hard... See what happens... And stop this points per game nonsense .it happens every season.... Chaos Apparently
Thought Ashford were the better side. More composed and so much stronger , they won most of the 50:50 balls and looked better organised and more comfortable. Agree that player of the season should also have been man of the match. Dixon was outstanding. Was baffled that Crutwell did not start. Decent atmosphere although was expecting a bigger crowd. Ashford must have had 200 odd there so only 600 home fans for such a big game was a bit disappointing but was certainly entertaining on and off the pitch.
So it looks like it will be Ashford at home in the play offs. Lessons to learn, don't mess about with back passes with a minute to go. Our bad habits will end up costing us and felt sorry for Louis who had no choice than to take one for the team. We certainly need to up our game if we are to beat a decent Ashford outfit from a manager that has been there only a few months he certainly has put together a strong, organised and well-drilled team. Everyone talking about PPG, we will have to beat 2 good sides first before worrying about that!
Mom Jack Dixon for me, sponsors always give it to goal scorers. Good atmosphere today but wonder what action if any Ashford are going to take against their supporter who hit one of the stewards in the head while he was involved in a tug of war over a blow up doll. He seemed ok but not what you want in any role let alone a voluntary one.
Too many drunk people up there today. At pro grounds you don't let get in if you are drunk. I had a couple of pints but there were people in the queue in the bar ahead of me that should not have been served. They were swaying all over the place, Think the club need to be more responsible and think about who they serve. There were also underage drinkers as well, with adults giving kids drinks that looked about 15. Yes the alcohol helps the atmosphere with singing and stuff but there were some people there that can't handle their drink and should not have been served.
There's plenty of incentive for Haywards Heath to go and win at Ashford next weekend to give themselves a trip to Hastings, a team they have already beaten twice. So the play-offs aren't quite decided yet.
Surly if can’t get Charlie back in goal we could look at josh pelling as noticed he not been playing for Horsham lately has he left and gone elsewhere? Or as aggy likes a sweeper could be Matt Cruttwell
Not ideal to come back into the team after so many weeks without a competitive match, but if Charlie is picked to play he will give 100% for the supporters and his team mates - guaranteed!

Josh was not available over Easter, Joe Mant was brought in as cover. Josh(Golden Gloves) will be back for the play-offs.

Nothing was done about it. It was the main man from the Ashford Supporters Group who sorted out the coaches, inflatables, refreshments etc. James Toghill I believe his name is. Warned about the inflatables, a steward had a tug of war with him and he just through a punch. Soon after the incident he removed the clothing he was wearing (hawaiian shirt type wear) and got himself into some neutral clothing to hide in the crowd.
Good luck on Monday. Hopefully none of the above happens again
