An exciting old style Cup Tie. A good result with a deflected strike from substitute Sam Cruttwell to win it late in the second half after a terrific solo goal from Antonio Walker Barth had leveled the scores just after half time.

VCD were well organised and physical. We played it out from the back (a little too much for comfort perhaps) and that left space in midfield for our quick players to run on.

Antonio's goal deserved MoM. But really good from Sam Beale today with Jack Dixon not far behind. Let's hope for a good draw in the next round.

Really enjoyed the game. End to end stuff and I thought we just about deserved to win. Once again Chris made the right changes at the right time. Thought Jack had agood game today and Young Danny showed he knows where the goal is. Another home draw please.
See you on Monday at Sevenoaks.

Agree with Geoff and Steve , very enjoyable game . Getting to be a habit coming from behind. Lovely tribute to young James with the applause. No doubt he was looking down on the game and cheering us on.

Competitive and enjoyable game. Glad Sinnkaye Christie was back in the team and thought he had an excellent game. His run out of defence was brilliant to set up our second goal. Hope we get a good result at Sevenoaks.

Really decent performance yesterday against by far the best team we have played this season. No real stand out performers, just a really strong team performance and effort. And I am guessing the most pleasing thing of all for Chris and his management team is there is just so much more to come. Don’t think we are anywhere near our best, probably 70%, and yet still winning and putting in really strong performances.

Best performance of the season from Daniel by far, and you can see the confidence growing in him. Thought Dixon had a really strong game as did Adam along side him and great to see Christie back in the side as well. He is such a precense at the back and did really well against a really strong VCD front line. Their number 7 down the right was electric and after a shaky first half Sam Beale did really well to combat his pace in the second half.

Really pleasing start and looking forward to Sevenoaks on Monday.

Agree John-a pleasing start. But still early days. Difficult to judge the quality of the sides we have played- they have all looked quite threatening at times against Hastings and the suspicion is that on another day things would have gone their way. Not complaining though- the football has been good at the Pilot Field-hope the results keep going our way!
