After the 5-1 win against Thamesmead Town we will be travelling to the East of Kent to
Of course we only played one game this season but we are on top of the League and
Ramsgate is currently the number 15th. They lost away to VCD Athletic 2-1. Tom Chapman scored for The Rams with also
Harry Stannard in the line-up.
Last season away game we won 1-2 see here the matchreport: Hastings United Football Club continued its unbeaten start to the season with a good away win this afternoon (Saturday). Adam Hinshelwood’s side made it seven points from a possible nine in Bostik Football League Division One South by winning 2-1 away to Ramsgate.
Billy Medlock was the hero with both of Hastings’ goals, either side of a Ramsgate penalty, on a very warm August afternoon in east Kent.
Ollie Rowe made his first appearance of the season after recovering from injury, while youngsters Ansu Janneh and Ollie Black both made the starting line-up. Jack Dixon was named as captain in the absence of Simon Johnson.
Hastings drew first blood in the 12th minute. Medlock ran through and rounded Ramsgate goalkeeper Luke Watkins before finding the net.
The visitors’ lead lasted just nine minutes, though. Hastings conceded a rather soft penalty and Tom Chapman tucked it away.
Clearcut chances were in short supply until Hastings grabbed what proved to be the winner in the sixth minute of the second half. Medlock punished a mix-up in the Ramsgate defence by firing into the top corner from 10 yards - his third goal in the last two games.
Hastings goalkeeper Josh Pelling was called into action to save an Alfie Paxman free kick, but his opposite number Watkins was also required to make a couple of decent stops, one of them from Janneh, as Hastings secured their first away league win of the season at the second attempt.
Hastings are one of no less than seven teams on seven points and they will entertain one of the others, Lewes, on Monday, kick-off 3pm. Walton Casuals, incidentally, are the only club with the full house of nine points.
And we? Sure there were some questions about who on the team will score the goals with Rodari out for a lot of weeks. But after 0-1 down we turned the match and Ajakaiye scored twice.
Nice and interesting to see how the team will do against Ramsgate.
Enjoy the match and save journey for the travelling supporters.
Saturday's game a lot closer than 5-1 suggests. Daniel Ajakiye looks a special talent perhaps lacking a bit of confidence in front of goal. Hopefully his 2 goals on Saturday will help. Good to have your match previews back, Bert.
Bit of a got out of jail game today. Ramsgate could have been three up in first 15 minutes. Defensively all over the place in the first half ,not sure who was playing where. Why don’t we start with Vickers and Christie , who played a lot pre season and seems out of favour. Much improved in second half with Daniel and Dayshonne ( surely man of the match ) dynamic up front. Can’t argue with 8 goals in 2 games.
Support excellent , must have been 50 of us there today.
For me that game has just shown me that the team is fighting for each other and never give up. It was a great second half dans pace is so frightening and his skills to dayshonne worked his arse of and mensah done really well when coming on.
Don’t know John , don’t think he’s injured. He and Jahmahl would be my defensive pairing. One other point worth mentioning is that we do not tire in last 15 minutes but keep going, must be all those pre season games getting them fit.
Danny has got a bit of confidence and it showed in mthe way he took his first goal yesterday. Dayshonne was my man of the match closely followed by Crutts. First half was Ramsgates but with Chris ringing the changes we dominated the second and deserved the three points. At last a manager who knows how to use subs. The pace we showed today was great and they can play football as well. Keep it up lads.
