Great idea and has been very successful at other clubs particularly Lewes. I think and hope all supporters will come on board and help out as long as all the money does go to Chris and no where else. He should have absolute full control of all funds.
Two years ago the committee and in particular Matt Denness arranged a sponsor a goal for the season to help towards a player fund for Darren Hare. We scored well over 100 goals last season and I alone paid over £70 into the initiative but not sure a penny ended up going on players. I assume this as all those that contributed never had a thank you or received any feedback from the club of where the money went so it has to be crystal clear Chris has total control with no outside interference.
I think in his first few months in charge Chris has more than earned our support and if we can in some way help him get that 30 goals a season striker than I will certainly help in whatever way I can as I am sure the supporters football team will as well. Remember us raising over £2000 towards the new floodlights many moons ago so no reason why we cannot do that again for new signings.
Great idea and yes you’re right John . I didnt see a thank you for the sponsor a goal collection last season either . I too donated £70.00 and had no recognition from the club . Come to think of it ... I think the people who donated to sponsor a goal that season comprised virtually all players from the Supporters Club F.C. ... so it only needed one message of thanks. Matt did a marvellous job collecting the monies due. At the very least he should have been thanked . That all said this new idea should be embraced as I’m sure we all want to get out of this god damn awful league .
With all respect John comparing us to Lewes is like comparing beer with milk. A lot of the Lewes people own a share in their club. Can’t say that for Hastings.
Thanks guys, the sponsor a goal did raise a few hundred quid in the two seasons it ran, probably not a massive dent in the wage bill at the time but every little helps as they say. It was hard to get much take-up outside of hassling people I knew and don't think all the money came in even then. Possibly people were put off by the high number of goals we were banging in, 'sponsor a clean sheet' would have been in overdraft. To be fair to the club, Barrie West was always very appreciative of what we raised.

Hope the new initiative is very successful.
Think a lot of you still miss Barrie and Clare at the games. Sad it went that way!
