After the point won against Cray it is now away to AUFC-logo-main.jpg

Ashford United are currently the number 23 in the table. Played 17 games and got 9 points.

Scored 12 and conceded 40 goals.

The last game they won was against Guernsey 3-0; the 9 games after that win: 7 losses and 2 draws.

Ashford plays at: Homelands Stadium,Ashford Road,Kingsnorth,Ashford, Kent

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor Ground: Homelands Stadium Address: Ashford Road, Kingsnorth, Ashford, Kent

And we? Little bit of optimism after the Cray game? Very important game again and let's hope the travelling supporters will make a safe journey and bring back 3 points.

COYU'ssssssssssss

Anybody remember the game we played against them almost 26 years ago to the day, 16th November 1991. We won 4-3 in an excellent game played on a very muddy pitch. Goals scored by Paul Burke 2, Terry White and Carlton Wynter. Woundn’t mind a repeat.

That was a tremendous game-where did Paul Burke at the end of the season. We did end up getting promoted that season (I think)

Phil, there are a number of companies where you can send the tape away and they will transfer on to DVD for you. Costs about £11.

Used to love Carlton Wynter, what a man mountain he was. Did you know he played in the last ever home game for Ashford at their old home at Essella Park and Peter Sillett was the manager in what I think was his last game before moving on to Poole Town.

Spot the Hastings old boys in the line up below plus a certain ex manager from last season playing in that game. I think there are four?

Ashford Town line up – Warren Scott, Dave Lee (Nicky Sparks), Peter McRobert, Tony Macdonald, John Barrow, John Barton, Steve Luckett, Andy Blondrage, Darren Hare, Paul Giles, Carlton Wynter

Referee – Norman Leslie
Attendance – 1306

More than 4 John, Nick Sparks, John Barrow (known as Barrowboy), Andy Blondrage, Darren Hare,Paul Giles and Carlton Wynter all played for us. Apart from Darren being at Maidstone not sure where they are now ,although I believe Blondrage is now in the USA.

I remember Nicky Sparks from my time in Luton in the 70s. Had a few games for the first team but was mostly a stalwart of the reserves in the days of only 1 sub.

Deserved 3-1 victory , although if Ashford had there shooting boots on it may have been different. Apparently this was the youngest starting United team ever , only Ollie Rowe And Rhys Whybourne over 22.
Biggest praise of the afternoon must go to our supporters, must have been well over 100 there today.Well done.

Good performance against a limited Ashford who are still adjusting to Bostik South after promotion last season. 3-1 flattered United but the better side won and in Calum Davies we seem to have someone rather special. His 3rd goal for me was the best - perfect placement. Well done young un and also a mention for Ansu Janneh who is getting better and better.

Interesting what you say Simon about Ashford adjusting to Bostik South.Apparently they have used 57 players already this season, was told the previous Manager left and took half the team with him . Heard that before somewhere.

Plenty of good performances today especially when we adjusted to the changes in personel. Calum is a class act but so are some of the others. Crutts looked very mature and wore the armband well. Ansu improves with every game and Dayjohn did well until he was stamped on in the second half and was subbed aftr losing his temper and getting booked. Three points at last, let’s hope it is the start of a run.
Well done Chris for getting in the new players and building the squad and gettng them to play good football.

Yes indeed, Phil. The ups and downs of semi pro football. I think they had 3 or 4 new signings today.

I wouldn't believe everything you hear at Ashford , their previous manager hasn't even got another job (in football) so not sure what all these players he's supposedly taken with him are doing.
