The Club is delighted to announce the signing of local lad Sam Adams from Hythe Town FC. Sam was a fans favourite during his many previous years at the Club and manager Adam Hinshelwood is very pleased to have been able to bring him back home to add his experience to the Club's young based but developing first team squad. All at United welcome Sam back into the fold.
The Club is further pleased to have secured the loan services of 22 year old goalkeeper Charlie Horlock from Eastbourne Borough FC. Charlie has been on United's radar for two years since he played extremely well for Eastbourne Borough in a pre-season friendly at the Pilot Field the season before last. All at United hope Charlie enjoys his time at the Club.
Manager Adam Hinshelwood says he is very pleased to have both new signings on board as he reviews his squad having now had first hand experience of its capabilities during what has been a satisfactory start to the season. Adam anticipates that there may well be further squad adaptions over the next few weeks.
Sammy Adams always been one of my favourite ever Hastings players. Excellent free kick and penalty taker, full of energy and can play any position. Even seen some pretty decent performances from him between the sticks over the years. Really good signing and just what was needed after a pretty miserable week around the club.
Cannot agree more John, so sad when he left Hastings, but so glad he has decided to return, an excellent addition to the team, cant wait to see him play again in the correct shirt.
Jack Harris also looks to be heading out of the club, with Southern Counties East League Premier Division side Tunbridge Wells having shown an interest in the forward. “That could be happening,” said Hinshelwood. “If that one goes through we wish him all the best. We couldn’t guarantee him the first team football that he wanted and needed. He needs to be playing to get himself a bit fitter
Don't know what to make of that. Yes, he is injury prone, yes, he has had a poor start and yes, he does not look fit, but I go back to the beginning of last season and he looked sharp, fit and unplayable at times so would have liked us to have given him more than five games. The other thing, and its just my opinion, is he is still looked better and more likely to score than young Rodari does.
Just so many changes at the minute and just looks like a repeat of the last 3 seasons when we have used circa 50 players a season. I just hope Adam can get a settled squad pretty quickly.
If Jack does leave,I feel we need to replace him with a forward of the same stature. We are already quite a small team.Having a big striker does give us options
Can we have Kenny Pogue back ??... for me Davide Roderi is far off what we need ... saw that on Saturday when he bottled that open goal . Needs confidence in lower level ..we need a experienced deadly striker like Billy...
Hope we sign a decent replacement.Surely we wouldn't let him go without someone already lined up.It would be to much to ask Billy to shoulder nearly all our attacking options
Doesn't fill you with confidence in today's Observer with Adam saying he 'might' sign another striker. Surely its an absolute necessity. We cannot just rely on Billy up top and Rodari, for all his potential, is not a goal scoring option at present.
Surely Sammy Adams will play up front with Billy, I can't see why that won't happen. I hope Davide gets some game time, even from the bench, as he looks a prospect to me.
I am sorry that Jack Harris has failed to establish himself. I know he has potential and he has shown positive qualities; but the club have given him a great deal of rope and be it through persistent injury or unfitness he has been unable to rise to the challenge. So while, of course, I wish him well; I am not sorry that he has gone.
What I am sorry about is the point John makes above - we desperately need another quality striker if we are to be competitive this season. If we don't get one it will be a huge opportunity missed because there is I feel a better promotion opprtunity this season than in recent ones past.
Rodari is well worth persevering with, but he is not as yet a proven goal scorer. It is good news that Sam Adams is back and, yes, he can and likely will play up front with Billy. But I think that that is far from ideal. I see Sam as best linking the forward players and the midfield rather than playing as an out and out striker.
What would we give for a young Ade playing alongside Billy!
I know the club are looking at him ... Kenny has left hythe ... we didn't see the best of him last time but I am a massive fan ... him and Sammy will
Be brilliant for us ...fingers crossed
Really not sure what to make of this signing. Kenny is a fans favourite with a lot of supporters and a wholehearted player who always give 110% and on his day he can be unplayable. But as we know from the past 'his day' was usually one in every Five games or so. That just has to improve but the early season signs are good as he tops the Bostik scoring charts and let's hope he comes back a different player. I'm pleased he is back. My only other conern after the last few weeks of managerial shambles (Medlock subbed v Lewes when best player on the pitch,Vickers at right back v Lewes, the substitutions at Phoenix, last nights starting line up) is it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we pursue with Rodari and push Medlock out the club. Unless someone tells me Medlock has a niggle, then something is definately not right there. I and most fans think he has been one of best players this season but it doesn't appear the manager or someone at the club fancies him. Like most I don't get Rodari at present. He cannot be in the side just because he works hard or because Adam is being pressured to play academy players. If Medlock doesn't play Rodari has to bring a minimum of 20 goals this season. So far he has none in eight games. Dave makes a really good point on the Cray thread that we are in danger of destroying players like Rodari and Black before their career even starts. Remember what we did to young Holden a few years ago? I think David needs to go back to the development squad and start scoring goals again and he will then be the big asset to the club we all hoped he would be.
And talking of supporters favourites what is happening to Crutts? For me our best player when he is at his best. Along with Vickers, the best player on the pitch at Ramsgate, as good as any other at Dulwich, incredibly subbed for Carey at Phoenix when chasing the game and sub last night. Like Medlock, do the management team not fancy him?, is he carrying a knockor being rested? does the management team think he is not fit enough or working hard enough? There was the big write up in the Observer about all these other teams looking at him by Dean White which I think was unecessary, has that unsettled him? Surely a fit Sam is the very first name on the team sheet.
Too much being asked of too many Academy players at the same time. There are good young uns coming through for which Dean White & Co should take great credit. But nearly half the team being made up of such young uns just doesn't ring right and the way Medlock has been used so far is beyond belief. I can see him walking out if this carries on. He was playing fine at Phoenix Sports and what he did to warrant being subbed (same applies to Crutts) was beyond me. And I was staggered to see our best two players were on the bench at Cray.
Hinshelwood has had to start from scratch and stamp his seal on the team. This is to be expected when a new manager comes in. And that is where we have gone wrong - too many managers in recent seasons, too many fresh starts and not enough time to get a promotion winning side gelling together. In particular with regard to Darren Hare who seemed to have gotten over the departure of Steve Watt. We will never know if some of those who left in the summer might have stayed on if Hare hadn't gone - but even allowing for losing some good, good players as we did - we still have the basis of a decent side that should surely be in with a shout of getting one of the 3 promotion places this season. The problem is the time needed to get a side together with the necessary ingredients for promotion - Hare and Watt had laid those foundations last season - they go, new manager, new foundations.
Hugely frustrating to be already 8 points adrift of the top. I didn't go to Cray but saw the shambles at Phoenix Sports where we were well beaten by a no more than average side. But it is early days and we are waiting on the likes of Johnson, Beale and Vickers to return and all is by no means lost. A return to winning ways on Tuesday will be welcome!
Interesting to see the chairman asking for patience in the observer
The youth program has worked , been a big fan of Bradley since I saw him at East Grinstead last year and think Sonny impresses ..
I am sure Adam is his own man and is not influenced by the club to only use the youth . Billy is a class striker , I enjoy seeing players like him , on the day he is a typical quality striker , his ability and killer finish is easy to see .
As above brilluant comments, hate to see a problem and a loss of confidence in these youth players . The club has done a great job .
Have not been to a game yet but see there is one on Tuesday so hope the missus lets me out. Was talking to a guy in the bookies yesterday who was a Hastings supporter and he said he heard that there was a fight at training between a player and coach so maybe watching training could be more exciting than games given reports from people above about how poor the team plays in recent games. Hope my first game will be a good one. What is the food like at the ground? Is there hot food?
I presume Dave's Nessling's comments mean that we can not sign/play Kenny Pogue until 35 days after the date of the 7 day letter for Sam Adams !
Yes I think the cryptic message behind the comments means just that although they mention no names!
I see from Twitter that Kenny Pogue has already left Hythe, so if we can't sign/play him until time has elapsed I don't know who he'll be playing for in the meantime?
Hythe have signed striker Jerson Dos Santos from Corinthian Casuals presumably to replace Kenny?
No doubt Hythe Club Man will enlighten us with all the answers

Those are indeed the rules. However good will can easily by-pass such a rule --that is if it is two way. As a matter of fact, Hythe are in no trouble at all, Chris.

Absolutely agree Ollie. Was evident Wed that however much potential the youngsters may have, they cannot compete in with the physical side of other teams in this league
We are signing local players with proven records at this level - not loan players or those that have to travel distances and have no connection to the club.
Would like hear from a club official about the reasons why Billy Medlock and Sam Cruttwell are not in the starting line up. Makes no sense from the outside.
it does look strange when you have an injury crisis that you leave 2 experience players on the bench . and this early in the season to have so many players injured is unusual.
So it's official Kenny Pogue signed back for United yesterday. I've always been a fan of Kenny . He can be frustrating but he can also be unplayerable . Hopefully , he can form a partnership with Billy and continue the goal scoring form that he has had early season with Hythe . We need something after Tuesdays shambles !!!
