I'm not saying specific players you like me criticised the team performance, and these players were part of that team. We appear to be heading in a different direction as a club, and the approach is different so things will change. We can hardly say the last 5 seasons have been productive. I for one applaud the Board and the new approach as we have to try something different. Yes I will not be happy if we have more than 2 loan players and I will be critical if we go that way again. Loan should be for an emergency.
The players that have left have had more clubs than Tiger Woods, that suggests something to me about loyalty. The ones that remain have played for a few years at clubs. I want players that train and want to play for us. Those who have left obviously didn't.
Still surprised the club has made no statement on Danny Leonard yet (or have I missed it?). I was told at South Park last season that he was signed and not on loan. Such an outstanding player in his short stay, why no statement?
Back to the drawing board, we now appear to have a suck it and see season of great uncertainty. Having most of last years squad abandon ship leaves us with a thin squad of experience. Unless Adam has something up his sleave its looks highly likely we will struggle to get points. If the youngsters without any other thought are indeed good enough to step up to the first team then it looks like we will have to give them our support but we need to be up there with the best again this season to keep the fans coming through the turnstiles. I fear that we just won't be strong enough in depth unless there are not a few new signings on the horizon. I really do hope though that the idea of keeping players local and therefore able to train together regularly will work out otherwise I see another season of loan players having to be found to shore /strengthen the squad.
I think that is most peoples point Chris. There is absolutely no doubt in the world that local youngsters will care, work together and bond as you state, but if that means a year of fighting relegation to county league, mid table mediocrity or many poor performances, will you be willing to accept that and continue to support the manager and board as you state? because if that is really what you want, I have 14 supporters that turn up to train every Wednesday that will give you all of those by the bucket load but we wouldn't win F all (sorry lads). Its a bit more than that and we all know that. I just cannot believe the board has given up on promotion out of this league with a new stadium on the horizon so lets see what happens over the next fortnight with players but not confident with what is going on at the minute.
They aren't mutually exclusive are they? You don't need the best players at our level, you need the best team. I have had enough of the so called better players under performing, so why not try something different a mix of quality and young as long as they all buy into Adams methods we will be fine.
Exactly - three up this season - and, I suspect, this season only. But then it's inevitable that there will be more sides after more promotion places. I am sorry to see Bodkin, Collin and Stannard go but let's see how things work out. Bodkin wasn't in best form for much of the 2nd half of last season, Harry was young, raw and a bit inconsistent (superb on his day) and Franny with all those goals will be the biggest miss of all. But Billy is back, Jack will hopefully be fit, Sam Cole back in October and we do have some decent young uns who have already shown what they can do.
I just remain disappointed that last season's foundations remain unbuilt upon and that Hinshelwood has to start from scratch but even with all those who have moved on, we still have a decent squad and I'm sure we will see additions to it.
I think one of the reasons so many players left and found other clubs was the total lack of communication from the club after the pal off semi final. I believe that most of the squad only knew about Darren's departure through this forum and the main web site. As well as finding out about Adam getting the job through the same media. Even after that I believe there was no communication as to whether players were wanted or not for this season.
Can't be true Kentish, its because they all found new jobs and have new work commitments as per club statement, otherwise they would have all stayed surely? Pretty poor if true but two sides to most stories but Hastings have had this reputation over the years. Always a crisis.
See Hastings old boy and fans favourite Mickey Philips has come out of retirement to sign for Ashford. Any chance we can get Duncan Mcarthur and Stuart Playford's knees fixed and Terry to shed a few pounds. Just throw in Stafford Browne who is still playing and all the panic is over. Just a thought.
Ha Ha. Not saying its the only reason, but I believe that even as late as the middle of June there had been no communication between Adam and some of last season players. In fact I think the chairman was forwarding a few messages as the players did not have Adams number.
I have to say Chris, throughout all the bad news of late, and I think it is bad news that 11 players are leaving including arguably our best three players who scored 67 goals last season. Plus the fact I have been really grumpy, but despite all this you have cheered me up and put a smile back on my face. A man reborn with only the interests of the club at heart. Welcome back from the wilderness my friend.
I think that Frannie Collin & Matt Bodkin were the best players I have seen at Hastings for a number of years but even with all of their goals and experience they couldn't get us promotion, so even signing the best players doesn't guarantee promotion.
What I did like about them was their good discipline as they didn't get many yellow cards, Unlike their replacements Billy Medlock & Jack Dixon!
I remember when Medlock was here before at one point in the season he had more yellow cards than anyone else and Dixons disciplinary record isn't much better.
Like Chris says now all of those players have gone and are not coming back in the foreseeable so we have to put the past behind us and get behind the manager and players that we do have and who knows what the future holds.

What I would say to Frannie is you signed a contract, presumably you had a copy did you not read it? If you did you would know the score, suited him to sign for 2 years probably got more for doing so and now whinge about it. Sounds pathetic to me
Just seen frannies comments about the club .... never amazes me the politics and ins and outs on football even at this level
'The only loyalty in football is the fans ' Bill Shankly
I am worried scout the season but excited .... going to miss the players gone but I do like Billy and when he is onside for a goal , his ability and class shines through
A bit stroppy but I like an aggressive nature .... I would love Tom Vickers back
Sorry but to me that's bull:::t as he new the score it's like any of us you wouldn't sign a contract with out reading it as that's a dumb move he wanted out the day watt went but couldnt as he had a contract to honour
I can't believe the club is getting stick because players didn't read or understand their contracts. As I understand it this is a standard non league contract and the club is within it's rights to seek compensation for a contracted player. I want a successful and settled side but our ex assistant manager should be aware of the situation and acted accordingly. I can't feel sorry for Margate if they can't afford the wages of a player they were attempting to get for nothing from a lower league side. There doesn't appear to be much loyalty or integrity in football these days and the greed and underhand behaviour of the professional game is obviously rife at all levels now.
There is no doubt that we need this change of direction if we are to progress. Even from afar, I've had enough of sub standard, BillyBigTime footballers who think they are better than they are, swanning into the club, taking decent money, and generally not performing. In fact, from what I gather, not even bothering to turn up to training half of the time. I'd much rather have a bunch of lads with legs, who will be fit and organised, and still have plenty to prove. If we had gone up last season, we'd be struggling now, because we would have needed to rebuild anyway, cos I doubt many of last year's squad would have fancied it - in my opinion, some of them might have been found out in the next division up, as it is not an easy ride. I think Adam will do a great job, and with Dean in the background, things will be done properly. As to social media rants, I was always told not to wash your dirty linen in public, and if you do move on, do so with dignity. Finally, I think the board should be applauded for trying something different, and like us fans, all they want is a football club to be proud of. This can be achieved if we work together.
I understand and agree with what is being said about players loyalty. But it goes both ways. There are quite a few billybigboy managers who fell they can discard players and not bother to contact them or return messages. Probably because they think they are Alex Ferguson
I'm sure that doesn't apply to Adam and he has had to pick up after Darren left which can't have been easy. Let's get behind him and his team and urge them on to promotion.
It really does no good at all to rail about the lack of loyalty of most players and managers. That is simply a given in the world in which we live. The only immediate question for the a Club like ours is how do we progress from our current league. Do I think we can do that primarily with a group of youngsters? Do I think we can do that without paying excessive money to cynical players with absolutely no commitment to the club? Do I think we can do that by playing 'score one more than them' football? No, I do not.
While loyalty is a virtue which deserves reward, it seldoms receives it. I wish Adam well and I will support him regardless, because that is what supporters do. But I do not think we will get out of this league without engaging the services of a cadre of hardened experienced players, motivated by money and a 'seen it all' manager. I had hopes that Gary, in particular, would achieve on that basis. He didn't . I wish Adam well with his alternative strategy. That is the choice which has been made.
At work I am constantly told to 'manage expectations' (seek to prevent disappointment by establishing in advance what can realistically be achieved or delivered by a project). I personally think that our club consistently fails to do this. I understand that certain bits of information have to, or need to, be kept quiet, but when us supporters hear nothing we start to guess what is happening. I'm sure if we knew of the new direction the club was taking months ago we would have accepted it a little easier than we are now.
Good turnout of both players and supporters. Have to admit did not recognise some of the players but Tom Vickers seems to be back in the squad. Looking forward to Uckfield on Tuesday night.
Mercenaries gone! Do we need em at the club?
They weren't silly and must of knew about there 2nd year option when they signed on the dotted line .
think might be pulling wool over our eyes as fans.
Our secretary must been doing these contracts for years and would have told them without a doubt
players like those have signed these contracts at every club they been in so cant see how they didn't notice before signing on dotted line
As for the future think looking really bright and the club as a whole is looking like a professional outfit from pictures I see on twitter.
It's gonna take a while for it all to blend in but by late sept /early oct we might see that what the club trying to achieve.
The new signings and return of a goal scorer plus remaining squad and development players are we really that weak?
Hinch and Aggy might have few things up there sleeve,Development and academy staff all experienced and in the know! and probably a talented set of youngsters in the town for a change must be good.
Talk of Collin and bods will be gone in whisker? If it all starts off ok ,Who knows Sky's the limit 😉
Yesterday's community day went really well and everything came across really professional, loads of people and family's stopped to watch and we handed out hundreds of flyers with fixtures about the club. Probably about 30 players or so in attendance and lots of coaches as well. T-shirts & stickers were given out to kids and as a PR exercise I genuinely think it was a success. First team lads all looked happy and there were a few 1st team faces faces down there that I didn't recognise ( as well as to Vickers )
Defiantly should happen on a regular basis in future preseasons as could well boost the clubs profile in the town.
Completely forgot about him. Didn't think he was that great to be honest.
Is Davies still with us?
Rumours amongst the supporters yesterday that Cole now out until the new year and Rowe injury could be a lot worse than first feared. The squad definately looks at least a couple of signings short despite Saturday's great start.
Sam said last season he was out till October. Whatever, early days and I'm sure there will be additions to the squad. Really pleasing to see Academy blokes stepping up a level. Well done all of you and to Deano for managing it.
