So that are 2 defeats against a team who maybe lost key player Sole after e straight red card against Tooting.
Dorking plays at: Westhumble Coomunity Ground, London Road,Dorking
And we ? Of course the result against Chipstead was not the main news yesterday; it was our last home game of the season and a great thanks goes out to all the support the team got this season.
Main players were resting and some new talents got their chance. But the main thing is how we ' attack ' a team which we lost twice this season.
I am confident that Darren got a plan and with the support of hundreds Hastings supporters I am confident that we play another game next Saturday.
Safe journey to Dorking and support the team with all you got!
It doesn't sound like you're planning on coming to Dorking, Bert. How about the Final if we get there ?
One other point to people who are travelling on Tuesday.......if there is any chance of rain, take your waterproofs! Dorking Wanderers' home ground is nothing like the PF with very little covered accommodation and the majority of supporters will be exposed to the elements.

No not Tuesday, being sick of our ( NEC) defeat yesterday and need to cam down about that and not having to travel twice.....

Wow. Decent game all in all. Dorking always looked likely on the break and had a lot of composure on the ball. We did our utmost but lacked a wee bit of finesse in the box and seemed a bit reluctant at times to have a crack at goal.
Simon Johnson is an absolute hero, what a player, seems like he ran midfield by himself tonight.
Penalties can be a lottery but crikey, if you're a goalie and you put your hand up to take one then it's good for it not to be the worst penalty I've ever seen live. Inevitably people will say "oh but at least he stood up to take one" but we don't know what conversations took place among the team. Lenny seems to be exactly the sort of character who would volunteer to take one despite being terrible at penalty kicks. Doesn't help that he walked off the pitch seeming pretty pleased with himself.
Bit of negativity there but those are my thoughts. Who knows how many of this squad we'll keep. Interesting (and also a nice touch) to see Steve Watt in the crowd. And also none of the trouble from the Lewes game was very nice to see.
Ultimately we have failed this season, but we have failed gloriously and entertainingly, and for that I thank everyone involved with the club.
Awful 1st half from both sides who seemed intent on giving the ball away. We were perhaps unlucky not to get a penalty but not much else happened. 2nd half much better but both sides squandered chances before Frannie scored. However our Achilles heel returned giving the ball away in our own half the ball eventually ended up in our net via the crossbar. Extra time saw chances at both ends before with 119 mins on the clock we were presented with a 1 on 1 sadly it was missed. Onto penalties and the only thing I will say if anybody thought Waddle in the world cup was bad.Pidgeleys was 10 times worse. Onto next season we need more stability if we are to make a charge for the title.
This was our goal, ( prob the best goal footage I've ever taken ) think if Frannie hadnt had to go off we would have won that, Barnwell just couldnt hold the ball up as well as Collin did.
What a night and personally I am extremely proud of every one of our players, with special mention for Ollie, Crutts and Johnno who were absolute giants last night.
On a hard and bobbly pitch, good football was never going to be easy and Chris is quite right in his assessment. A lot of ball in the air and very scrappy with very little quality football on show and chances few and far between. In Matt Briggs, Dorking always looked dangerous down the right flank and possibly just shaded the first half but really Pidge only had the one save to make.
Second half was a different affair and for the first 30mins Hastings were on the front foot and deservedly took the lead through a super Frannie Collin header after one of the few quality moves of the match. There really then looked only one winner as Hastings continued to push for a second and Dorking were creating very little, but just 5 mins before the end, we lost possession in midfield and the dangerous McShane scored after the ball crashed in of the cross bar.
First half of extra time belonged to Dorking again, without creating that many chances but the second half really belonged to Hastings and this is when we blew our chance. Barnwell fluffed a one on one with the keeper when he blasted it over rather than the little dink that was required, one was cleared of the line and then a super save from the impressive Dorking keeper as Bradley Stevenson was clean through from a delightful ball from young Pritchard. I honestly think over the 120 mins, Hastings were the better side and deserved the win.
Then the lottery of penalties and the less said the better. Wonderful save from Crutts but Lenny's penalty.....oh dear, I think it hit the corner flag.
So absolutely gutted but no criticism of any of the players or coaching staff. You cannot begrudge Dorking their win after finishing on 105 points and I hope they beat Corinthian on Saturday but their fans....oh dear. I have to say, that as proud as I am of the players I am equally proud of our magnificent fans who outnumbered Dorking on the night. They really are special in more ways than one, and really deserve some success very soon. Let's now hope Darren keeps the core of this team together, a few decent additions, Harris and Cole back to full fitness, and next season we win this league outright. Very proud of the club last night!!!
Fully endorse everything you say John, really proud of our lads tonight. Hope Darren stays and builds on the team. Fantastic support ,would guess about 250 from Hastings. A new first for a lot of us......walking through a vineyard in the dark looking for our cars. Very strange.
Well put John. On getting out of this division it won't happen until the club changes direction and moves away from dual registered and loan players. I would say using 25-30 players during the season is plenty. Also next season let's go out of Fa cup and trophy right away they are a distraction that if the goal is promotion are not wanted.
Only thing to add to the above is the disallowed goal inthe first half. I thought Crutts was infont of Frannie when he pulled the ball back but the lino called it offside. On the wrong side of a poor decision. I agree with John that we were just about the better side and all the lads deserve praise for giving us such entertainment over the season. Onward and upward next season. Playoffs in first year, promotion next for Darren and the claret and blue army!
Gutted. Tremendous Ryman South play off semi final at Dorking Wanderers finished 1-1 after extra time and out on penalties as we for the third time against Wanderers this season ended up with nothing.
United led 1-0 late on when Frannie Collin headed home a Matt Bodkin cross. Great goal, deservedly ahead having dominated much of the second half and a real blow when Wanderers levelled on 86 minutes.
The home outfit's substitutions worked better than United's and they were the better side in the first half of extra time but the U's did a lot better in the second half and the home keeper while being a clown with his kicking brought off good saves especially one in the last minute when Bradley Stevenson burst into the area.
Penalties to decide who would face Corinthian Casuals in Saturday's final and it finished 4-3 to Wanderers. United were deservedly cheered off by the sizeable support - we were proud of their efforts over 120 minutes.
My views on play offs are well known and many would argue Wanderers are rightfully staging the final on Saturday. They finished the season with 105 points after all and finished second on goal difference. But I hated seeing them celebrate at our expense knowing that yet again after three tight games they have gotten the better of us. So bloody frustrating.
I don't like to go down the road of "Can't wait to get out of this awful division". Any division is tough tough tough to get out of - all the more so with just the one automatic promotion place and the ups and downs of the play offs. Last night was devastating - we have seen it before, a side that is so close to being the finished product - yet we were 23 points off the top and for all that, gave Wanderers a real run for their money. Three games against that lot and we've had a zero return which is bizzare given that we have more than matched them every time.
Odd re the appearance off the Dorking bench of Guiseppe Sole. Sundays NLP report said the red card he got on Saturday ruled him out of the play offs. What's all that about?
Next season will be difficult - the likes of Lewes, Carshalton, Hythe, Greenwich Borough (assuming money is still available for them) - whoever misses out on Saturday plus the inevitable surprise package will be in the running.
Anyway - the important thing is to keep this side together and go again in August. Proud of you all.
I can't really add any more to what has been said....but as usual I'll try.
Well it was never going to be a classic game of football on such a poor surface but for sheer effort and determination you could not have asked for more....and I include both teams in that. I don't think a single player came off without a good few bumps and bruises and we would have struggled to put out such a strong eleven on Saturday if we had got there.
I would add Jerome to the list of players who made an immense contribution and, in fact, Pidge too.....for all but his last kick.
As others have said we can't begrudge Dorking their place in the final based on what happened over the season but can still feel a bit hard done by on the night. I thought we just about shaded it and came within a whisker in the dying seconds of injury time. We also had a very good claim for a penalty when Danny surged through in the first half. I think his honesty by staying on his feet may have cost us.
Fantastic support from 300 loyal Hastings supporters who I felt outnumbered the home support, a good number of whom didn't know who any of the home players were.
Feeling very flat today because we deserved something out of last night.....and totally shattered after a days work on three hours sleep.
Godalming fan here who was gutted for you last night. Dont know your players names but thought your left back had a torrid time in the first ten and then came into his own. Your left midfielder ran the show for much of the second half but was presumably knackered in extra time
The game changer for me was a fabulous save by the Dorking goal keeper in the last 10 minutes, I dont know how he got to it but it was save of the season for me
Thanks for those sentiments. I think I speak for most United fans in hoping now that the team stays largely intact for next season. All the best to you and Godalming.
Sorry Simon the squad was not consistently good enough and the attitude toward training wasn't apparently that good. I would only keep 5 -7 of current squad. And get in players that want to play and train with club for a whole season. I would keep Rowe Collin Johnson Cole Crutwell Harris and Nicholls. And 1 off Stannard Bodkin Mason. Though if Cruttwell has any ambition he should be looking to a higher league club he is good enough for conf South at least.

Consistency Chris? Lack of? Agreed. That is the prime ingredient of any title winning side. And we went through 3 or 4 phases of poor results plus - it has to be said, FA Cup distraction which for all it's financial rewards, was just that - a distraction that resulted in arrears of games. So rarely do sides make up the lost ground.
Yet only two sides lost less games so plenty of foundations were laid and we all hope they are built on. I would add Sobers and Leonard to the list you compiled and as for the young uns coming through, Akoto and Climpson should be top of that list.
I saw the home game with Tooting and all three Dorking games and wasnt impressed with Tooting. Neither side played well that afternoon. Dorking looked the better of the top two who had identical records with that consistency showing through.
Give me 1-0 and 2-0 consistently over 7-0, 4-4 and 3-4 any time.
Looking at the highlights it seemed as though the shot by Guiseppe Sole that hit the underside of the crossbar had already crossed the line before Mc Shane headed it in, whether the officials would have given it probably not as it all happened so quick.
Lenny's penalty looked to me more like a free kick than a penalty, but at least he had the guts to take it as it seemed like some of the others didn't fancy it.
Dorking through on penalties once again and are deservedly promoted to the Ryman premier. Huk the hero once again making at least 6 fantastic saves in normal time and also two penalty saves. Corinthian by far the best on the day but pleased Dorking made it.
Was at Dorking today. Casuals were actually the better team, Okojie always looked dangerous. But Dorking hung in there and got the chocolates. Interestingly the Corinthian goalie took and scored their fourth penalty. He sidefooted it though, unlike Lenny's unfortunate goalkick style effort.
Against us Dorking looked so dangerous on the break and running at our defenders; there was none of that today, lacked cohesion going forward and were indebted to their very good goalie (as they were against us).
I would say more than half the people in that field couldn't see what was going on, pretty inadequate for that many people.
Congrats to Dorking and let's hope it's us next season celebrating one of the two promotion spots. Probably a lot depends on the purse strings at Margate I'd have thought.
