Hastings United Academy beat Tonbridge Angels Academy 2-0 today at the pilot field in the last league home game of the season well done to the team and management for remaining unbeaten at home this season
Well done indeed, a fantastic effort by all and what a shame only one person on here has said well done for going an entire season unbeaten. I have watched them a few times this season and certainly some super talent around and the future is looking very bright indeed especially as I know what is coming up at the younger age groups...exciting times ahead.
And on that note, as not an awful lot has been said on the other thread with all the hysteria surrounding both the score and the crowd on Monday, but how good was Ollie Black on Monday? After a nervous first 10 I thought he was magnificent throughout and would have no hesitation throwing him in again. Add Akoto, Prichard and Climpson and proves what a successful academy we have already. Well done to all ππ
Yes a very well done to the Academy squad which makes the future look very bright indeed as I feel that this is the best way forward by developing local young talent.
I see from the fixtures that we only have 1 game left against Maidstone next wednesday but as there are 10 teams in the league surely we should be playing 18 games in total.
We have only played 16 and Maidstone have played 17.
I might be wrong Adrian but I think it's just the league table hasn't been updated since yesterday's fantastic result . I believe that we have played 17 games . Win the Hastings last game against Maidstone, then we win the league . But whatever the result I think everyone invloved with the Academy should be very proud indeed. I've ready shouted from the roof tops about young Jonny Akoto but have to agree with JohnW , Ollie Black had a brilliant game at Lewes on Monday and was largely overlooked . Yes ! Β The future really is bright ππππ Well done lads π
Further evidence that the club is making really solid progress both on and off the field. I wrote on this forum, when we were in sharp decline under previous regime, that we needed a restoration of pride and purpose. We are seeing both, and I think it is testament to the hard work of the directors, management teams, players and volunteers, plus the brilliant and loyal support from our hardy fans, that is starting to get us back on the football map. Well done to all.
It's a great achievement and one to be proud of. However, the tough bit is the transition as there will probably be 3 categories of player 1) those that will be too good for current HUFC 2) those that will be our level and 3) those that won't make the grade. The skill is identifying those that will hopefully play for us for a few years and integrating them into our senior set-up. But at least the club are doing the right thing in the community and that is to be proud off.
I have seen quite a few games of thr Acadamy and development sqaud and we should be proud of the quality of the players and mangement of them. The football is very high quality and it would be great if more supporters could come along and cheer them on. Season ticket holders get in for free and it's only a couple of quid for the development squad and the Acadamy is free.
Whether they win lose or draw the Acadamy have had a brilliant season and I will be attending as many games as I can next Season.
