Ha ha!! Aprils fool, you all thought Hastings lost 1-0 but we actually won 4-0 against RELEGATED GODALMING! Hatrick from Mason Hughes and a debut goal from another of Darren Hares super signings. 👏
To be fair we've been hard to beat for quite a few weeks now. A lot of teams turn up thinking they are going to walk it and get caught out. Felt sorry for your keeper, we do have quite a boobly pitch. Good luck for the future.
Well just got back from the match after a 2 hour drive . I am not sure respect was paid for Godalming being relegated and bottom of the division. The turn out even away supporters was low , not sure a coach even went and lacking show of Hastings officials apart from the lovely Barry
Too be fair it was an even game , end to end stuff in the second half and they didn't seen a bad team apart from their finishing which was poor . The number 7 William Wfambe was quick and dangerous .
What the hell we were up too I am not sure. Is this the result of Steve Watt as we are not smashing teams anymore. No individual player stood out good or bad , they all struggled. Another new signing , another disappointment ! Callum Emtage looked better today .
What is the Lenny Pidgely thing about . I have professional respect for him and I don't know him personally but I had this sinking feeling he didn't want to play today . He went off with an injury to the back, didn't seem that bad but I saw him half time looking fine and his car disappeared before the full time whistle . Is this team all together and do they want to play together or have we done fancy dans who have sights elsewhere. Is the jack of Watt lost the dressing room spirit? I don't know , but it feels like it.
I stayed and clapped off the Godalming team .. they deserved that for their spirit
Finally I felt sorry for the replacement keeper Ryan Nichols with that stupid goal . Said to my partner I hope he comes on and doesn't make a silly mistake . Oh I felt bad for him BUT boy he redeemed himself with 2 great saves and it was great experience for him . Prob our best player
Play offs may happen , we are not good enough and I have no answers but to carry on travelling and being a loyal supporter . Shame others, the team and the directors maybe didn't take this game too seriously
Chris ,not into defending Directors as they are big enough to defend themselves but Tony Cosens ,Dave Nessling and Barry were there. I understand that Pat McCrossan was ill and Dave Ormerod is involved in the new Social club.
As for the game the first half we were poor and Godalming were better than their league position suggests.Their goal was a result of the ball bouncing over poor old Ryan , but as Chris said he made some excellent saves.
Second half we did improve and missed three sitters.
Have to say though at times we look disjointed and disinterested.
Good luck to Godalming next season in the Combined Counties League ,nice people
Phil ... fair play to the directors .. I know you guys give 100% to the club and thank you ... I did not mean any disrespect to you .
However my post was more about other things as supporters who give the same 100% back to our club ... enjoyed today , don't get me wrong but I suppose football would be boring without the ups , downs and dramas even in non league lol lol
What an appalling show. I would sack Darren tonight. It is clear the players do not respect him as they don't put the effort in. I was worried after 5 minutes as the midfield was being outplayed. It took Hare until half-time to change things. Frannie out of position and awful again. Keirnon well least said the better, and Bodkin not good enough rarely did he show a positive result for his work. We need to change our whole approach as it's clear using 50 players doesn't work. Next season let's get a manager who knows the league and it's players and get the squad finalised by Sept 1st and only make essential additions.
Agree above ... why do managers fall in to the desperate trap of panicking into changing players willy nilly when it all goes wrong ... not sure what's going on behind the doors , but players disappear like North Korean opposition politicians and new ones arrive quicker than we can keep up
no idea whether your manager is good or not, but after our manager resigned following a 10- 0 humiliation at Carshalton we brought in a guy who basically changed the team very week. We had a couple of wins but the more regular pattern was heavy defeats. As a home and away fan it was depressing not to have a clue who was wearing the shirt. He left by mutual consent and Dean came in from lower league Camberley. It's not always pretty but baring suspensions and injury we put out the same team every week, results have come, probably too late to save us, but it's a team that gives 100% and they work for each other.
I would imagine that all the chopping and changing of players isn't helping at a crucial time. Players coming in on a short term basis and not staying for five minutes is no way to build a bit of momentum. The loan market is ok if used properly. The big problem is that many of the players brought in don't appear to be good enough to get us over the line. The issue I have is that they probably aren't as bothered as we are about promotion, and they can't be blamed for that, as after a while they disappear back to their parent clubs to be offered new deals, or more likely, to be released. I obviously wasn't at Godalming today, so I can't comment sensibly on the performance. It does sound like we had a stinker though, and having got ourselves in a really decent position, we're doing a great job of trying to throw it away.
Yes Vernon if we win our last 5 games we will be guaranteed a play off place, in fact I think that 4 wins (85 points) will be enough.
Whether we are capable of this remains to be seen.
The next 2 games will be tough Cray & South Park away, and this will surely show what sort of manager Darren is in rallying the troops and getting their confidence back after that disappointing defeat against Godalming.
Stranger things have happened!
Not sure how Darren can rally the troops and work on the deficiencies and issues within the squad if only a handful are turning up for training each week. In fact, I believe he only sees certain players an hour before kick off each week.

If what you say is true John then it is a sorry state of affairs.
Why aren't they all turning up for training? Do they live too far away or what?
If we had a home Tuesday evening match they would all turn up then so what is the difference!
How many players actually live in Hastings apart from Sam Cruttwell? When we got promotion 10 years ago most of the players came from Hastings, now they all seem to live miles away in all directions!
Darren's programe notes for the last home game mentioned a very good training session and a visit to the pub !
Also I am aware that Darren wanted players to sign only if they could make mid-week training.
