Looking at recent form and last nights 6-0 win at Guernsey, Tooting & Mitcham have to be the new early favourites for both promotion and the title. Nothing less than a win will be good enough on Saturday.
Does anyone know if Billy Medlock still plays for Dorking as I see he hasn't been on the teamsheets for over a month now?
Or perhaps he is injured or even suspended!
Hopefully we get a big crowd for this one! if you are on Facebook and want to help spread the word please just click the link then click going so that all of your contacts on there also get notified about the game, it can snowball really quickly if any of those do the same and end up with lots of locals knowing about the upcoming game!
Not sure about posters tbh, not been involved in that side for a while but dont think any are being done. I do know from past experience that while making them was easy enough getting them put out regularly & consistently is much harder!
Social media advertising is much more flexible and targeted compared as can be changed as required with postponed games etc, done a lot for this game so will be interesting to see if it has any result. Posters still have there place of course if people can commit to getting them out there.
Really fed up and frustrated with that today. First 20mins we were never in the game, and Dorking deservedly went 2up after two Hastings errors. Firstly the new left back let the dangerous Tom Tolfrey have too much time and he buried a great shot in the far corner and then Crutts, not for first time this afternoon, needlessly gave the ball away in midfield, resulting in a free kick, which was expertly curled into the left hand corner from the edge of the area. Then for the next hour, we pretty much battered Dorking, particularly in the 2nd half when for 35mins they barely got in our half. Deservedly we worked ourselves back into the game and after 2 Frannie goals and there was only going to be one winner, but then what happened? Firstly we bring on a left back when totally in control, was there an injury? and then I'm sorry, but the absolutely hopeless Kiernan gave the ball away for the umpteenth time, and 10 seconds later we had conceded a penalty. What happened after that is anyone's guess as Pidge almost appeared to have his back turned as the penalty was taken. We then waited another 10mins before bringing on Harris, why? and Dorking sealed the win with a breakaway goal in injury time to give them a quite incredible 4-2 victory.
So again we fail to beat a top 6 side when after 70mins I was wondering how many we would win by. Yes it was a great fight back today but why do we continue to put in mediocre first half performances. I though Crutts and Johnno were really average today and whoever gave Kiernan MOM need locking up. First half we counted 12 touches in a row when he gave the ball away in very Temba esque performance. Works hard and won the penalty but not a lot else. And as for the refereeing performance, I think I will let Darren (Conquest) comment on that.
Hastings quite incredibly only team in top 12 to lose today with top 7 all winning. Suddenly even the play offs are looking a million miles away.

Time and time again! We face a top side and can't beat them!!! Oddly I didn't think Dorking were that great either. I personally think we need to work harder against these sides or we will not make a play off.
Awful start to the game, but a great fight back. After we equalised,we should not have lost.Whilst I admire our desire to win,we should have tempered our desire to win, rather than leave ourselves wide open to Dorking's counter attacking game.I cannot add anymore on this website that I haven't already said about the referee
Thought we struggled a bit with 2 new players in the back 4. And our midfield was too open when Dorking had the ball. However, once we got into the game we played some good stuff going forward and like many other supporters thought we would go on to win at 2-2. Dorking were a good side but we made it too easy for them to play. Need to get back on track in our next 2 home games.
Manager is clueless. Good sides at this level are those that make the fewest mistakes. We play a style that is good to watch but is too open and we will make mistakes. Also keep changing the players in the squad is no way to build a team and team spirit. I would suggest Darren does not either have the tactical nouse or the right idea of what it takes to win ryman south. Most of the sides to have beaten us dont have better players but they are set up in a more disciplined way. Each player knows what is expected and they do their job. We need someone who knows what it takes to get out of this league and not someone who wants to play pretty football.
For all the great football we have played at times this season, 8 wins in 17 is not great reading, but to say Darren is clueless is ridiculous. i don't always agree with his substitutions and some of his signings have been pretty average, but I would rather watch our style football any day over the dross we have seen over the past 3 or 4 seasons. We were better than Dorking for most of the game today and had we got a deserved winner when on top we would have called him a tactical genius. We just have such an offensive side, I think we lack a decent holding midfielder so we are very open at times not helped today with both Sam and Johnno having their worst games of the season. I might be wrong Chris, and very disappointed with the last two results, but a bit more luck we could quiet have easily won the last two games very comfortably.
Perhaps clueless was harsh. But i would say clueless as too what it takes to get out of ryman south. You cant play the way we do and expect promotion. Well i agree about holding midfielder but he has had 5 months to find one. But dont use the luck card john as if chatham had luck we could have been 1 down there. On the results front we are not progressing although we entertain. How can we justify the wage bill with the results we are getting.
Enjoying watching Hastings play this season-even if we don't win all the time. Still confident we have the players and the management team to make the play-offs. Even if we don't, we have a team of players who are capable of playing some great football. Fantastic to see the quality of Matt Bodkin, Frannie Collin etc each week.In my opinion, this justifies the wage bill. Keep up the good work, Darren.
So Tim promotion is not important to you, entertainment is top priority, each to their own though. I just want to see us promoted out of this awful division with its many awful grounds.
Still confident we can get promotion via the play-offs but delighted we are playing good football at the same time. Hope Darren Hare is at the beginning of a long period of management at Hastings.
Hugely frustrating afternoon as Dorking Wanderers left with three points, a scoreline that more than flattered to deceive and a goal keeper who had a mare and got away with it. One point from two games in which we have had long spells of total control and looked likely to score every time we go over half way - yet just one point to show for it. But that's what happens and while we have 53 league goals already, it's not going to go for us every time.
I think Darren can do the necessaries but some of the touchline decisions baffled me today. Jack Harris - assuming he is fully fit - should be starting every game and Kiernan should be on the bench. He is better than Bright Temba but still shows Temba like lack of control when it matters. But he would be a highly useful impact player off the bench.
Loads of games to go and we have as good a Ryman South squad as we have ever had - but that's a huge gap and right now we're looking at aiming for a play off lottery spot. The squad needs to settle down now - new players every week is all very well - but things have to bed in as they get used to each other.
I'd have given Franny Collin man of the match today. As for plonker of the match - that refereeing display was something else.
I agree with Simon. I would have Jack up front (if he is fully fit). We have a lot of pace on the pitch and Jack would be something a bit different. At the start of the season he came back to us looking a totally different player.
I also do not understand why Thorbourne lost his place at left back. He joined us a couple of weeks ago, around the same time as Hughes-Mason, and out of the two looked a better addition to the team.
And what did happen at the penalty that changed the game. From where I was it looked as though the ref blew the whistle before Pidge was ready.
I'm with Chris on the fundamental point he seeks to make - the objective is to gain promotion. Other matters are subordinate to that.
Is the current squad good enough to get us to the play-offs? (Obviously that is the summit of realistic ambition for what remains of this season.) I think not. We have some excellent players and sporadically we can produce an excellent team performance. I hate to criticise individuals; but I think it plain that we cannot rely on 90 minutes even from a fully fit Steve Watt; Jack Harris still fails to convince; and Lenny Pidgely is costing us goals and arguably contributing to our enduring defensive indecision. So, at least three quality additions are required.
As for Darren: clearly he is not 'clueless'; he has the connections to make loan signings, and he has shown he can make his own decisions. The team he has created can play highly entertaining open football. That's good. But it certainly isn't good to consistently fail to close games down; to fail to build a run of results; and to come off worse against sides who 'don't want to play our way'. I hope Darren can put all that right. I would certainly not want to see a managerial change this season or next.
I think the fact our back four through injury is changing every game is a huge problem, really wish that we'd kept hold of Jerome Smith all season, he was solid enough to cover and may have reduced the number of temporary ( if decent quality ) recent signings that understandably take time to settle in.
Assuming our aim is to achieve promotion this season, it was particularly frustrating to lose to a team who we consider to be one of our main rivals, particularly as we really should have gone on to win it at 2-2.
Yet again we made a really sluggish start and, to be honest, the performance never reached the heights of some of our best wins...but then again Dorking were always going to be a tougher proposition than some of the dross we have hammered this season.
I would agree that a few players seemed below par yesterday, particularly Lenny (who has been excellent recently) Crutts and Simon. For some reason we never got going on what seemed like a rather slow playing surface.
Over the course of 90 minutes, I reckon possession, chances etc were pretty even but as ever, these close games are determined by individual incidents in the penalty area. Had Harry put us 3-2 rather than firing just wide we might have been celebrating a fabulous fight back today. Close games are often decided by tiny margins.
To start calling the manager 'clueless' as a result of yesterday's disappointment is a very strange response. He has assembled a very useful and ENTERTAINING team who I think can take us as close to promotion as we have been for some time. We're going to have plenty more set backs this season and the very last thing we should be considering at the moment is a change of manager.
Like all football fans though we are VERY hard to please. After a couple of poor results people want changes...and at the same time others are calling for more stability. Who would be a manager with so many touchline experts ?
We have got to give Darren our wholehearted support or we risk losing the best manager we've had for years. I know this is an open forum but it is titled "Supporters Forum".
Yesterday was agonisingly frustrating but there were some great passages of play and, as Mick said, we could have won it. Not going to pick out individuals but there were some unusually under par performances but that's football. Having just seen Liverpool get beaten from being 3-1 up I think that puts the game in a nutshell and sometimes you have to give the other side credit instead of moaning about our play.
I thought that Dorking deserved credit where credits due. They were far more composed yesterday when on the ball . Their passing was far better than ours too. They also wanted the ball more than we did. Although the circumstances behind the taking of their penalty did seem a bit odd I did think that Pidge seemed to me to take forever to get in the centre of the goal . I was a long way from it though and my eye site is pretty poor .So maybe unfair to judge . I was more concerned with the poor decions by the male officials (the female Lino was fine by the way ), during the game in general . The linesMAN missed a clear cut handball in the area when he was staring straight at it . Makes you wonder what they are watching sometimes . Yep , overall we were beaten on the day by a side that scored 3 great goals and their other one , well Tolfrey will never score an easier penalty !!! Onwards and upwards ! But Horsham won't be easy either , as we found out a few weeks back

interested in the comments about having so many injuries and getting a settled side. We have used 37 players so far this season, exactly the same number as the whole of last season. Let's hope for a settled team soon, although speaking to Sam Cole on Saturday I gather he may be out for the rest of the season.
And let me just remind everyone, one of our very best players, injured and out for the season playing in a Mickey Mouse league cup game at Faversham. Darren has been top notch this season in most of what he has done but hope he and the club learn from this mistake in seasons to come. Play youth players only or don't enter the thing at all as I believe Dorking did this season.
Of course we should give Darren our support. It would be foolish - I could put it stronger - to look for a change in management this year or next. For far too long we have been plagued with premature and ineffective managerial changes. Darren is the best we have had for quite a while. We need stability and progressive development. We should refrain from negative or over the top criticism, because that does hit morale. But that does not mean that we must stifle our opinions. We are not, and most of us have never been, managers or players at a senior level; but we do have something to offer - if only from watching for years - and if we put our comments forward in a constructive way then it shouldn't do any harm and might just do some good.
I agree Geoff that we are entitled to our opinions but insulting negativity will not do the team or management any good at all. Sometimes the team or individuals need a kick up the backside but I don't believe this is the place for that to be administered. Constructive criticism should be welcomed and encouraged.
Well said Geoff. Thought Dorking were a good side with their big number 5 being very solid in a holding midfield role. Tolfey is obviously useful and the number 11 was quite a handful. Hopefully we will play them a third time in the play-offs!
Yes Tim, Dorking's number 5 was surprisingly effective. I say 'surprisingly' because he was indeed big and I thought he would be immobile. The reality was that he did an excellent job. Mmmm, the play-offs - if it were to happen it would likely be at their place - an interesting prospect.
Steve if you think being critical has negative impact then that is a huge problem. Why should they take any notice of me. I am entitled to my opinion which i believe is fair. Only time will tell who is wrong hopefully its me BUT
Chris- need both critical and positive comments on a forum to make it a bit interesting. Keep on posting! Only this weekend, Tony Cascarino was writing that the Leicester City supporters were being too nice to their team this season. As he says, most other supporters would be giving the Leicester players a terrible time. I'm sure Darren and co are aware its a results game but whatever happens this season I hope our current manager is given time to achieve success.
