Prices for this game will be adults £4, concessions £2 and U18s free. No excuse not to see the boys get a run about against Westfield. Bert, you have a valid excuse!

The first game I've watched this season. Plainly, since we were in control throughout, this was not a game on which to form any firm judgement of our prospects for the season. Those around thought we had played much better in the games against better opposition. But I thought there were quite a few positives in the individual performances. Wayne Wlison and Sam Cruttwell looked particularly good.

From the official:

Hastings United comfortably beat Westfield 6-0 on a dreary evening at the Pilot Field.
The home side started their dominant display early as Jack Harris tested Westfield keeper Andy Ball.
From a corner that he won Steve Watt put Hastings into the lead with a great curling strike from 25 yards. His aerial presence was causing problems for Westfield's defence.
Jack Harris soon doubled the lead with a composed turn and finish from an excellent cross. Westfield knew they were in for a long night as Hastings continued with ruthless attacks - first Harry Standard hit the post before Sam Cole made it three with a shot from outside the box going over Ball in the Westfield goal. Just before half time Sam Cruttwell who was putting in another impressive display fired a shot over the bar.
As the whistle went for the break at 3-0, Westfield knew that it could have been more.
After a quite first few minutes in the second period, Richard Davies converted a penalty to make it four. This shortly followed by Harris' second of the game, slotting under substiture goalkeeper Connor Holland.
Wayne Wilson made it six with his first goal for the Club after some superb play down the left between Stannard and Harris.
Jack Harris could've completed his hatrick and made it seven, but his lob wasn't quite what he hoped for.
The full time score was United 6-0 Westfield.

What an excellent performance and we seem to be playing some decent football with passing the ball to peoples feet instead of long hopeful balls up the pitch and giving the ball away less and less as each game goes by.
What a difference a new manager and new season has made to players like Richard Davies, Sam Cole & Jack Harris.
They all look far better, quicker & fitter already than last season and seem to be playing in the right positions.
Richard Davies & Jack Harris in particular look like completely different players from last season so much better. I Know it is difficult Particularly playing in these friendlies but there was quite a few fierce tackles coming in last night especially on Jack Harris right at the end. I think the referee asked for one of the Westfield players to be substituted in the second half before he could have been sent off.
Both Lenny Pidgeley & Frannie Collin are both injured so we don't need any more before the season even starts.
One other thing was that we could hardly make out any of the white lines on the pitch as they were very faint and non existent in places, and when we had a penalty they couldn't find the penalty spot! Hopefully this will be sorted out before the season starts.
I know people say its only Westfield but we still put in a good display and looked strong all over the pitch and I can't wait until the season starts.

Agree with all you said Adrian, particularly impressed with Sam Cole who physically looks slimmer and was chasing everything until the end.We spoke to Simon and he said it was the heavy rain that faded the lines and penalty spot...perhaps we need indelible paint !
