Rumour mill has it Corinthian have had 3 points deducted for fielding an ineligable player against faversham. We are back in the playoffs ahead of tomorrows final game!
Wow, back in our hands but a points not enough really as Faversham will surely be more up for it than Hythe tomorrow and expect them to win so we need to match that!
Why would Faversham be more up for it than Hythe? A win for Hythe guarantees them a home semi final and then a home final should Dorking lose the other semi.
So the season that has been so unpredictable has thrown up another twist. What's still to come, I wonder ? Of course this all makes Billy's injury all the more significant but I'm sure the whole club will be up for the challenge to come.
Call it gut feeling, I think Faversham will be more motivated now that they know that if we don't win and they do they will be there. Hythe are there already so motivation for placing won't be quite as high regardless of finals etc. Not saying they won't be motivated but not as much.
Not sure I agree with that, Dan.
Hythe know a win would ensure a home game on Tuesday against Worthing. That MUST be a pretty good incentive as they probably won't take too much support down to Worthing who will certainly have a good crowd. I'm certainly happier putting some trust in Hythe rather than a hung over Three Bridges !
Was coming down any how for this game from Welling (SE London/Kent ...116 mile round trip), but this news is making it extra special!
Bringing my 15 year old with me tomorrow, somehow he may well be converted from a Wings fan to a U's supporter by the end of the afternoon
Can't wait. Hopefully as already mentioned, there will be alot of noise to cheer the Lads on!
Why has it taken the F.A over 3 whole months to make a decision on a game which took place on January 16th and to leave it until 1 day before the final fixtures? Must be pretty awful for all involved at Corinthian Casuals to be left in the dark until the last minute.Whether the F.A's ruling is right or wrong, their timing is just down right stupid
The whole business stinks. Yet another example of ineptly timed rule book intervention potentially destroying a club's season. Of course I want to see United benefit - of course I shall follow the Herne Bay game from many miles away but this leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Especially, as long time supporters will recall, after we got a pasting by rule book in 98/99.
What a potentially huge twist to the end of a topsy turvy season.
Got to agree, SS. No reason to doubt anything in the C.C. club statement is inaccurate and the whole affair is shambolic. Feel very sorry for all involved at C.C. and this could just as easily have happened to us. And the timing is unbelievable. Surely this should have been resolved weeks ago ? I suppose we should be thankful it wasn't announced next Monday when positions were all done and dusted.
This incompetence is a regular feature of semi pro football administration. Enfield - having done all the work on the pitch to get a play off place in last season's Ryman Premier - missed out when 3 points were deducted for a rule book infraction months earlier. Met Police who had not performed well enough on the pitch (which is where league placings should be exclusively decided) took Enfield's place after days of wrangling which delayed the play offs.
Worst one of all - several seasons ago - Thurrock stayed up in the Ryman Prem by the skin of their teeth - a point, goal difference - they worked their nuts off out on the pitch to retain their Premier status. It went to the last day of the season - imagine the joy at staying up. Season's end - three points deduction for a rule book infraction 8 eight months earlier. Scandalous incompetence that someone behind a desk saw fit to destroy a season's graft in this manner.
And in many cases, the club in question appears to have done nothing wrong which makes it all the more head shakingly questionable. Of course there is a need for rules and regulations but when you see what has happened to Corinthian Casuals you have to wonder just how the semi pro game is being managed. Hmmmm - I think I know what will feature in next season's first Gut Feeling column in the U's programme.
As for today - ideally, United win and take that 5th place while Corinthian draw or lose as do Faversham - that would at least remove some of the rule book contrived end to 15-16.
This decision is a disgrace IF what we read is correct. This should have been dealt with quicker, and all parties should have got together and ordered the game be replayed. The problem is the FA have a dodgy computer system that has faults and I believe it's due to be replaced. Also they can deal with a sending off at pro level in days, so no case should take longer than a month. In my eyes if Fav or us gain promotion it's not been gained the right way.

I have a hunch here that the reason for the problem is that some clubs are affiliated to two FA.s. At Hythe there is only the KCFA and I would assume at Hastings it is the Sussex FA.
It looks like Casuals enter both the Surrey and the London cups--but only one is considered to be the senior competition and only one would count towards serving suspensions.
Might be completely wrong here and in any case there is no excuse for either the lack of advice or the time taken.
But just say they only checked with London FA and received an incorrect answer back. If that happened you cannot really blame the Ryman or the FA who may not have had the question asked of them.
No doubt we will all find out eventually.
