After the big defeat against Faversham it is back at The Pilot Field against
Peachehaven are currently the number 23 in the table with 24 points out of 41 games.
Scored 43 and conceded 110 goals.
They have a slight chance of avoiding relegation.
Last season we didn't play them but in the season 2013/14 where they were the champions we lost both games 1-2.
And we? Where shall I start ?
The first thing or things about football is that you entertain the supporters and get results and that as a player you enjoy the game.
Somehow we managed to do neither of them. With having probably the highest budget in the league it is very disappointing how the team is currently playing and the place we are at on the league table.
Think reaching a play off place should not be our first concern anymore; the disgraceful behaviour of '' our fans '' at the Faversham game ( very good the club responded immediately! ) but more the obligation that the team and management will show commitment and respect to all those supporters who always making yourney's and always are at TPF to support the team and pay for that will hopefully see a team that is 100% motivated.
Strange to mention that a team has to be fully motivated but against one of the bottom teams in the league i expect nothing more then a gesture against the supporters of our beautiful club.
Bert, always read your post with great interest. Your English is excellent , my Dutch is not existant. However I'm not sure that the last line of your post is what you meant to say.
Well Peacehaven have only won once in the league since 10th October when they beat Hythe away! so if we don't beat them then we won't or definately don't deserve to get promotion let alone get into the play-offs.
They have only taken 6 points from a possible 75!

Hi Phil,
what last line....................
Football is like a marriage; in good and bad times you stick together.......................
A supporter you stay for life ( see me supportering NEC for almost 45 years now) Think the comments on this forum shows that 95% of the posters really care for this club. If you not moan, complain or what else about HU then we are truly lost.
Bert, I did not understand the line 'I expect nothing more than a gesture against the supporters of our beautiful club '. It may have been lost in translation but what I think you meant was that you ' expected nothing more than 100% effort '
Apologies if I have misunderstood.

Good win for the lads today but lets put things into perspective before everyone starts saying how fantastic we are once again. The saying "flat track bullies" has been used by many supporters many times this season and this was the case again today against a team, who quite honestly, would struggle against Westfield in County 3. We are capable of putting 4 or 5 past any team in the bottom half of the table but its the rest we struggle with. Nevertheless, we had a job to do and did it very comfortably with Billy Medlock imperious and once again proving he is as good as any in this league and possibly above. Whatever happens this season lets all just prey that we can keep hold of him next season and if money is the issue, then get rid of some of the rubbish as he is almost worth 4 or 5 other players. He will be sorely missed at South Park next week when he serves his one match ban.
Still think we need to win all five of our remaining games to make the play offs, especially looking at Corinthians run in and the form of those above, although Worthing appear to be imploding, and that may well now be our best route in to the top 5 now.
Happy days Hammerfan, that's good to hear, ill shoot down to Beachy Head now. If that is the case then I suggest Dave O and Dave N chip in for a very expensive company car, or we hope he goes out and gets another long ban.
An entertaining win; but, of course, as everyone could see we were playing a side who were very very poor. The real good news - as John observes - is that Worthing lost at home and appear to be struggling. So we have a chance; but yes, even four wins from our remaining five games might not be enough.
Heartwarming win for large crowd. But 6 goals against very mediocre defence. How can we beat Southpark without Billy. However this game should boost confidence going in to run in to playoffs. Keep going U's
Still think 4 wins will do as there is the Faversham v Hythe game on last day. But we will have too win 2 away games.
Peacehaven today were an embarrassment to the league and are the perfect example of what's left behind when money gets withdrawn. No fans, no facilities a complete mess.
Guess we're all thinking the same, John.
It's all very well annihilating the absolute dross in this league (and Peacehaven were as awful as anything we've seen this season) but we MUST be able to match the decent sides if we are ever to progress.
Agree that Billy had far too much know-how for Peacehaven today and most of his goals simply came from intelligent movement and anticipation. Don't think any were that spectacular but his little diagonal runs today and clinical finishing reminded me of the great Ernie Batten....and in Sam Cruttwell we have another little gem who played a number of terrific through balls (a la enigmatic Matt Stock while we're back in the 80s !)
Not too much more to say about today other than the gulf in quality between the two sides was probably as great as anything I have witnessed.......and we really should have recorded double figures.
And so on to our last five games. Agree we may need to win all five to do it and that may well be beyond us. But the next two are very winnable and, if we achieve that, others will begin to feel the pressure.
If we don't do it, well, I'll comfort myself with the fact that this season has actually been far more entertaining than last. A fact that clearly will not be good enough for some.
I think the best part of yesterday even with the result was off the pitch with a really good crowd ( much better than I expected ) FINALLY watching a dominant and enjoyable performance ( many of whom won't know that Peacehaven are probably the worst side played all season! ) which will hopefully encourage a few more back for the last two games and help get our attendance average to where it should be.
Heard a lot of good comments about the club from people who either haven't been before or at least not for ages. The decision to charge just £2 was probably more than made up by the large crowd & also the massive bar takings where they actually ran out of all lagers by the end despite ordering extra!
Well done to Simon Rudkins for getting it on in the first place despite the massive puddles and cheers to the weather for deciding to eventually bring a summers day after that storm in the morning!!

Very good point Dan.
As you say, many of the non regulars may not appreciate how awful Peacehaven were and hopefully some at least will think its worth splashing out £10 next time.
It does make you realise though that the current entrance fee is prohibitive for a good number of potential supporters....which is a real shame.
Would halving the entrance fee every week actually increase the clubs overall revenue ?
Unfortunately i think the Ryman League have a minimum charge that clubs can charge on a regular basis , think its £8? One off reductions are ok with their permission.
did not go yesterday but good to see we made easy work of a side that now let in 116 goals which must be some record? crowd good but less than double what we normally get and admission price lot less than half so a smaller gate at 10 quid i think would mean more money than yesterday. so think Mick half entrance fee all the time would reduce money for club cos need gate every week of 700 to be in same position. i think a winning side is only way to increase gate but when i have try to get friends and colleagues along they usually dont want to give it a go and when they have been they have witness poor game and think im mad. i really dont think this town is bother by football that much unless we get to 3rd round of fa cup and even that season the supporters that came as new ones did not hang around. shame we should have gate much bigger for town size we are every year gates go down. but maybe yesterday a few will come back although from the video of game (thanks dan) i think it was pretty obvious how bad peacehaven was.you think after medlock gets two goals the defenders might stay tight to him but they look clueless
The entrance fee profit isn't the only revenue stream though, To sell out the drinks from the bar & snack bar ( and even the 50/50 sales which Phil and Barbara did great with yesterday ) margin from the extra 300 people would have made a big amount of profit as well although i dont know how that would compare against the lower rate charged etc.

Peter, "clueless" was not the word for them, on the occasion they drifted into our penalty area, they looked positively frightened, I don`t think they have been in the opponents area before, it was quite sad really. It should have been double figures easily.
The average gate this year is around 350 so yesterday was almost double and Peacehaven brought virtually no-one..... so these were 99% locals. OK we charged £2 not £5 but it would have been interesting to see what the gate would have been if it had been exactly half price. By the time you add on the 'extras' from yesterday and those who don't normally come but return for the next game, I 'm sure the club won't have missed out too much. And wasn't it great for US to see a really decent crowd for once.
I totally agree with you though Peter. People will only come if they feel they get value for money and this is solely down to the performance/entertainment served up by the team. Different people of course will have a different breaking point at which they stop coming. I mean, the club could probably increase income further by upping the entrance fee to £15 and 250 die hard idiots like me would continue to turn up each week. (I'm not suggesting this, by the way.)
I thought there may be a minimum charge, Dan, which I find a bit annoying because clubs should really be allowed to charge what they see fit. Let's be honest, Hastings is a huge town but I bet the average disposable income is way below that of other more affluent places like Worthing. Clearly the £10 admission is simply too much for some, however well we play.
OK....it won't happen but it would be interesting to see how many we get each week if we halved the entrance fee.
Thanks to everyone who voted for the Goal Of The Season yesterday, looks like there were around 3 contenders that seemed to pick up a lot of votes so that could be interesting to see who comes out on top when they are tallied up!
The Player Of The Season vote will happen at the game against Molesey and both awards will be presented on the last game of the season.
i be happy paying 5 quid a game just think after initial interest if team arnt doing well then we would be back to the diehards Mick. dont know how much profit there is in bar and tea bar problem ive had when there been bigger crowds it hard to get served so how many people spend or just end up bringing own food and drink
Admission price is an interesting point, and £10 is top price for football at this level.
But the point I would like to make, is why do about half the clubs in this division, and non league clubs in general, charge children?
Firstly Hastings DO NOT, which is fantastic news for parents (including me). I cannot understand why clubs do not want to encourage parents to bring their children, the next generation of supporters. This is so important for continued club survival.
You will notice, the clubs that charge have very few children at their games, are they really blind to the obvious.
Most children are now in full time education until they reach the age of 18, they are not earning, so the only people being penalised is the parents.
I personally rarely visit away grounds more than once, that charge entry for children. And when I do, I don't bother with golden goals or raffle tickets etc.
An adult and two children at Hastings will cost you £10, at Walton and Hersham £18, no chance.
In this day and age, when there are so many distractions, (XBox, Sky TV, Internet etc) clubs should be encouraging parents to bring their children, nephew's, niece's, and their friends, but so many do not.

Spot on Vernon, indeed are the children the next generation supporters.
Sorry Vernon, children should have to pay something even if only a nominal quid. When you go to the cinema kids pay, the same goes for the White Rock Theatre, Swimming Baths, Hastings Castle, Battle Abbey and the Caves. They pay on the buses, trains and planes. If you take them to McDonald's or kfc they pay. Why should a football club be any different?
I would put the argument that if they pay something as children, if only to learn that you get 'owt for nowt' then they are likely to carry on as adults.
Have to agree with Phil here.
The main reason is that a few years ago, home games were just treated as a meeting place for dozens of kids who didn't have the slightest interest in the football. They never sat still for more than ten minutes but would swarm around the main stand pissing off all the miserable old gits like me who were actually interested in what was happening on the pitch.
OK...I hear the argument that they spent money on chips and chocolate, but that was a pretty small reward for the irritation they caused.
I would agree that a fairly minimal sum like £1 should be charged so that no child who is genuinely interested in the game would be priced out of attending.
Let's not get too carried away with the lower charge creating s bigger crowd. It obviously helped, but don't forget it was Easter bank holiday Monday , which traditionally draws a bigger crowd. The weather helped too by starting off bad earlier in the day putting people off making alternative plans then brightening up into perfect take the family to watch footy weather.
I have a vested interest in not charging for kids (I have 6), and can honestly say that we would be less likely to come if a had to pay for them. (Some might see this as an advantage!). However my eldest has already converted into an almost full paying student fan, and no doubt an adult fan in future.
