Tooting are currently the number 15 in the table. Played 34 games and got 45 points. Scored 48 and conceded 50 goals.
Top scorer is Jake Baxter with 9 goals.
Last season we drew away 1-1 but lost at home 0-3.
And we? Glad that the boys can play again. With so many games in hand it is important that this will go on. And most important that home games in this part of the competition must be won! Billy Medlock is not available due to suspension but hopefully others will take responsibilty to score a few !
Decent performance today against yet another very average opponent. First half was pretty even with Tooting probably having the better chances, but up against an excellent Girling, who produced at least two wonderful saves. Second half saw a change in formation and three at the back, which helped us get a grip of the midfield. It was pretty much all one way traffic all half and two fantastic goals from Tyrell and the impressive Zac. Zac was at last back to his best today and chased down everything and at last looked fit. His goal was magnificent and MOM for me. If we can get him back to his old self at the back end of the season it will almost be like having a new player. Only disappointment yet again was Jack Walder. The bloke is a lunatic and has been a ticking time bomb for the last few games. He got away with a red against Three Bridges but today he was caught and surely now the club have to let him go. Assuming it will now be at least a 5 game ban, the club should cut its losses and get someone else in for the rest of the season as the squad is looking very thin indeed. But lets not let Walder take away from a very competent performance from the lads today. Hopefully top 5 if we can win on Tuesday.
It's such a shame, he's done fine as a CB, not a easy adjustment to make from a midfielder and he's not the tallest but this is his 4th sending off and we just can't cope with that with our small squad. Smith has done fine for me and would have him starting, are Hanifan & Alex Hause still at the club does anyone know? Personally quite happy to have them as back up as to late to settle a new CB in for me.
Massive improvement from walder who has learnt to wait till late in the game to inflict his retribution, instead of leaving us with ten men for long periods of the game.
Ps thought Simon had another good game in the middle.
Agree with John the change to three at the back made the difference. I don't know why we don't start with this formation as we always look better and in control with it. I thought Tyrell was man of the match but Zac and the ever impressive Sam Crutwell ran him close. I didn't see what Jack did but the linesman flagged for something and after consulting him the ref didn't hesitate to show the rad card. I think Liam Wilson can operate as one of three centre backs and thought he did well enough at Walton to get the nod, especially if Sam Cole is fit again. A good three points and up to 8th. Win on Tuesday and we could be in a playoff position.
worth the 3 points for our second half performance. agree with santa that tyrell was best player on pitch and should have be man of match. did not see walder incident but it dont surprise me. he just cant help himself you can see it all through game the way he get at players he is like Diego Costa the way he behaves and is embarasing Get rid. and think it embarasing to that managers son plays, really not up to this level and do him no favours when he plays for his dad. sorry if that upset anyone but playing as son for manager is a bad move and best for both player and manager if they are at different club. happy with 3 points and move up table and muchbetter than last home game.
Ok 1st half , very good 2nd half looked like a team today in the 2nd half. As for Walder he needs to seek help before he seriously hurts someone and finds himself in court.
Agree with much of the above. Like others, I didn't see the Walder incident but there seems scant doubt from the way it played out with the officials and the marked lack of reaction from Walder himself and everyone else that there was an off the ball foul deserving of a red card. So another long ban. Yes, he has ability but for me (as John notes above) the way he was towards the end of the Three Bridges game was telling. He was very very lucky to escape without sanction. Whether it's 'red mist' or whether he is targeted by the opposition or whatever; the unpleasant fact is that he is a card waiting to happen. A pity that this should take the shine off a pretty good (but far from perfect) second half performance.
Yes, Tyrell and Zac scored very good goals and put in good performances. Zac for me was MoM; he was moving so much better and fully justified playing in the central forward position. Well done him; but we need to see much much more of the same to justify the club's investment.
Tyrell needs to act on what Danny shouted to him more than once - stay on the last defender. He frequently tracked too far back; perhaps because he felt he was not getting enough of the ball. He needs to listen to what coaches tell him. But, he is a real asset and it was great to see how positively he reacted to applause from the supporters when he was substituted. I would like to see him here for several years. He could (and should) be a real part of our future success.
Like everyone else I didn't see the Walder incident but agree with everything said, just totally irresponsible and has let the club down. More than ever we need players fit and available so his action is inexcusable. As for the game, well it was a sound professional performance but well short of the Guernsey and South Park games. I actually thought they looked rather better than Three Bridges....Tooting at least came with some ambition. Two excellently taken goals but neither scorer merited MotM in my opinion....that had to go to the tireless Simon Johnson who hardly wasted a pass all afternoon. Actually well done to all the players for a decent performance in pretty awful conditions. Looks like Guernsey have dropped right out of the race and are in a terrible run of form. Let's hope that continues. Hythe are now a much bigger threat.
I was fairly critical of Liam Wilson's inclusion a few weeks back and still not sure he's quite ready yet. There is no doubt he is an excellent prospect and I think his defending is okay but it is his distribution that really let's him down. He just doesn't look comfortable on the ball and too often gives the ball away, but there again I said exactly the same about Crutts last year and look at him now. For me, the biggest mystery surrounding this club at the moment is Alfie Hall. i understand he is still our player so can anyone tell me what he has done wrong? Surely now, with Walder facing a lengthy ban he has to be recalled. We could only name 3 outfield subs today so why he is not here now is a real mystery. Anyone know otherwise?
Sorry, should have said, what do others think of all these injury time substitutions ? Three separate stoppages to bring on subs from the 89th minute today !
OK, I understand this is the 'professional' way to run down the clock...but it all seemed a bit daft today...and in the end the ref added on at least as much time as the substitutions took and it could easily have unsettled us, particularly replacing Simon.
Personally I don't like it. Let's use subs for the reasons originally intended; injuries and MEANINGFUL tactical alterations.
(It was also bloody cold ! 😊)
Agree with everyone regarding Walder, another stupid red card at a stage when nothing was happening, the game was won and their were literally minutes left.
A good team performance 2nd half, but I'm seeing game by game what an important player Simon Johnson is for us. He's really improved us in the middle of the park, and is turning into a key player. 3 points and in a great position for the top 5. 2 big away games now, particularly Guernsey next week
As already said, a senseless sending off when the game had already been won. An already small squad is now further stretched.I have always wondered why the individual players profiles are not up-dated regularly so that we are all aware who has actually still with us or who have left.
Hanifan, Hause and Hall are decent players who could well have been used of late. In respect of Hall he was playing well then went missing from the squad, did he do something wrong? I wonder or just did not want to play for us. I can't remember what is happening or happened on the Vickers front either, other than that I understand he was ill sometime back. Maybe Someone could enlighten me.??
As many fans reminded me today, Three Bridges captain Lee Carney is a free agent after leaving the club earlier in the week. What a great signing he would be for the last couple of months of the season. Surely we would be a better move than the rumoured Horsham?
Thought we were poor in the first half-usual stuff-one paced, lacking creativity and vulnerable at the back/ second half much better even if aided a bit by Tooting. Zac seemed to play much better in his usual central attacking position and it will be interesting to see whether he stays there when Billy is available game. Tyrell couldn't get in the game at all in the first half but showed what he can do in the second. Amazing that in what appeared to be a trouble free game Jack managed to get himself sent off.
Anybody know when Jack's lengthy suspension would commence ? Surely , if the game is on tomorrow , the risk of playing Jack against a team that he nearly got sent off against just a few weeks ago would be unthinkable . Assuming the suspension isn't immediate , If I was manager I wouldn't risk it . Might as well get use to not having him now rather than later . It's such a shame because he seems to play much better at the back and I think we will miss him ,,,, but what goes on in that head of his ????? We need this game to go ahead tomorrow as I believe Billy would still be suspended against Guernsey ,if its off wouldn't he ?
That's right Windy - Billy said to me yesterday that he didn't want to miss the game against Guernsey. I think everyone would agree that it'd be good to have him playing. Just hope with him coming back, Tyrell isn't dropped, who was my MOM yesterday. Would you play three up front - Zac, Tyrell and Billy?
Well I wouldn't play him Tuesday ...there's a few Three Bridges players who I could think of who would be hell bent on getting him sent off yet again !
