After the win against Whitstable and the postponed match against Three Bridges it is now against
The team from the Island are now the number 3 in the table with 55 points out of 30 games. They scored 67 goals and conceded 51.
Top scorer is ( of course ) Ross Allen with 21 goals scored. This man is a incredible goalmachine. Although he is only 28 years old he scored 211 goals for his club in 179 matches and received only 6 yellow cards. Also Heaume and Loaring ( he maybe doubtful for this match with a hamstring problem ) are proven goals scorers.
Last season we lost away 0-1 but at The Pilot Field we won 4-1.Hat-trick Kenny Pogue and one from Ade Olorunda .
And we ? After a great second half against Whitstable ( and i was lucky to be there in a cold Belmont Park ) with a lot of passion in the game i think we must play and start the game against Guernsey as we did against Whitstable in the second half. With 2 strikers upfront ( so that Billy Medlock is not on his own ) and midfielders who are closing rapidly to the men upfront. Guernsey has not the best away performance ( on place 16th with 5 games lost, drew 3 and lost 6!) and lost some matches high: Carshalton and Chatham 1-4 and Molesey 0-4. Since Molesey ( 17-11-2015 ) they now have a unbeaten run of 9 games. But with a excellent Sean Ray in the back and a superb Billy Medlock upfront we will make not that 10 games in a row.
Hopefully a lot of supporters will turn up for this match ; kick-off 13:00!
Any news on Joe Taylor for Saturday or is Dan Rose back in? If so that will be some test for the excellent young keeper up against Ross Allen. And any update on Pells? how long is he out for? very little info on his injury and recovery so far.
Garry did say in his programme notes for the Dorking game that Josh was likely out for the season so prob no news until nearer then. Is Matt Cruttwell not involved even with some notice now then? appreciate a last minute call up last Sat was prob too short notice if committed elsewhere. Also whats the situation with Matt Armstrong Ford? thought i heard he was signed on?
Don't forget it's a 1 O'Clock kick off Saturday ... Have spoken to at least 4 people this week that are regular fans and didn't realise ,,,, seems like we need to pass the word folks !!! Remember , not everyone does social media or the Internet !!! Especially some of the older fans .
Thanks Windy, it is indeed 1pm kick off, it is displayed at the ground however some little Herbert's stole the number 1 from the kick off but I have now sorted that.

Problems with number 1 ? surely not ,,,,We usually good a
gate for this one ,lets hope the message is out there
Is there any chance this game can be video or do you know if Guernsey still do highlights and is it free to watch as gutted cant get to early kick off? might get there to see last 15 minutes if im lucky would it be free entry then cos if not no point coming in
Unfortunately I've got my daughter with me on Sat Peter otherwise I could have filmed it. Think that Guernsey still do highlights as far as I can tell but they are not free unfortunately.
Ok thank Dan I think Guernsey should make highlight free when they cause this change not much thought for loyal fans but as long as guernsey happy that is all that counts hope we stuff them like last year
You can register with GFC Manelanders TV who video most of their away matches and its free. As for their away hammerings mentioned in the first post, it seems they were all in midweek away games when they struggle to get a full team out. On another topic it appears that Guernsey and Hastings have an old football connection according to the Spurs website who are highlighting the players from their 1950s league-winning sides. Len Duquemin, their Guernsey-born centre forward, played for Hastings having retired from the pro game. Is anyone here old enough to have seen him play or remember him?
Very big game today in the context of where we may finish and where we NEED to finish.
It would be a very big ask for us to go to Gurensey and get a result in the play-off semi final or final as I don't believe we have ever taken even a point from the island.
I feel a defeat today when we still have to go there for the return fixture will make it pretty difficult for us to finish above them in the final reckoning.......which I feel MUST be a target for the reason mentioned above.
I'm sure a far tougher Guernsey team will show up today than the one we saw last season when for once we did comfortably turn them over.
Let's hope the 'right' United show up today, any breaks go our way and we take another three points.
Then it will begin to look VERY interesting.
. Is anyone here old enough to have seen him play or remember him?
There's quite a few people who have been watching HastInge since the early 50's ,,, my dad being one .... I will ask him later . It's not a name I recall him mentioning though . He got very excited at the prospect of a Girling playing for us again though .saying last night " Dickie Girling was the best winger we ever had ! " .
I will check with my dad this afternoon.
The name does ring a bell with me too though I presumed it was 'Dukeman'.
Certainly Dickie Girling was a real favourite of that generation....before my time I'm pleased to say.
They have not lost a league match since 17th November and are the in form team.
They have taken 23 points from their last 9 games, so if we lose today and win our games in hand over them we will be above them, and even if we lose both games against them and win our games in hand we will still be on level points with them!
So we still have everything to play for.

Now that's more like it and exactly the effort and commitment us supporters want to see. A really good performance today and second half was arguably the best half of football I have seen for many a year at the Pilot Field.
From the first minute today we played at a high tempo and never let the Guernsey players settle on the ball. We had an awful lot of possession but Guernsey probably had the better chances in the first half, with our new keeper making an impressive debut and saving us on a couple of occasions. I thought 0-0 was just about fair but second half we were fantastic. Solid at the back, dominant in midfield and a constant menace up top. Yes the first goal was a total fluke, but was totally deserved for our dominance and for all the luck we had with the first, the second goal was equally magnificent with a sweeping move from keeper to back of their net.
Apart from 10 minutes in the first half I thought the back four were great today and kept Ross Allen fairly quiet. We definitely look more solid with Cole at the back. In midfield Crutts and Johnson dominated the game and Chris Bart had easily his best ever game for Hastings. Well done to him as he has had some stick, a lot of it from me. And up front Medlock was just his usual menace and despite one poor miss was almost unplayable at times. If there are still such things as contracts at this level lets get him on one for as long as we can. But for me the main man was Sammy Adams, back in his old role up top. What a magnificent performance from him and his work rate and movement of the ball I think changed the game. Now lets leave him there for the rest of the season. Only disappointment for me was some of our crossing and the form of Zac, but that really is being picky. Very happy supporter today and great to see us move into that top 5.
Agree with everything John mentioned.Absolutely dominant from start to finish. The worst display from a Guernsey side that I have seen but that may have been due to our performance
I listened to it live online via BBC Guernsey and from how he commented it was obvious we were the better side yet he was so biased it was unbelievable, saying that we had just edged it, then their manager came on and said that we deserved to win and that his side looked like 14 individuals today rather than a team. Gutted I missed it but very happy with the win and three points. Well done lads another three points on Tuesday will be very welcome. 👏🏻👏🏻
Really really good game in general as well as the result. Billy was class and could have had 3 or 4. Thought Sam Cruttwell had a really good game in particular and the new keeper Harry Girling looked confident and did what he had to do calmly and efficiently. Pleased that we are really starting to string a proper good streak of form together and hopefully can make a few more of those games in hand count and push to finally get in the running for the top 3 so that we finally get a home playoff semi if we make it there. Would give us a big boost if we got that.
A very good game with some excellent performances particularly in the second half. Two really important moments for me - the excellent double save from Harry Girling in the first half and Billy Medlock's first goal (fortunate maybe, but deserved in the context of his terrific performance through the game). Had those gone differently, we might well have been looking at a different result.
But that's not to take away from the overall effort in the last 45 minutes which was very positive and deserving of a win. Chris Bart's best game by far. He kept finding space on the right which made life difficult for the Guernsey defence; and a huge effort through the game from Sam Adams and Sam Cruttwell. Few negatives really; but I wish we could see more from Zac Attwood.
Absolutely brilliant. Best I've seen all season. I had the privilege of choosing Man of the Match and it was so close between five players. Every single player on the pitch put in an excellent shift today and played well as a unit. Brilliant game and a brilliant win.
Yes I remember seeing Len Duquemine playing and scoring, from the edge of the area, with a great shot which flew in . Being also a Spurs supporter it was great to see both Len and the great Bobby Smith playing for Hastings United. Although at the end of their careers it was exciting to see these great players at the Pilot Field.
Also remember Len Duquemin, played for us 1960/61 when he was about 36 and at the end of his career. Also remember the others Spurs players we had, Bobby Smith and Tommy Harmer.
As for today's game ,agree with all that has been said , most entertaining game of the season and well officiated. All played well but Chris Cumming Bart man of the match for me. Onward and upward.
I'm really surprised no-one has mentioned the excellent Simon Johnson. I made him MotM , marginally ahead of Sammy, Crutts and Billy. However good performances all over the pitch today with one notable exception who was woeful......I don't need to say any more but surely his time is up. This was one of a number of totally ineffectual performances from Mr.Attwood.
I thought Chris probably made the PASS of the match but he gives the ball away far too much for my liking. A decent squad player but no more !
Thought Guernsey were surprisingly poor today given their recent run of form... but then again we were seriously IMPRESSIVE! Faster, stronger and considerably more committed.
OK it COULD have turned out differently today but that would have been a travesty...we were the better team by a mile.
With a couple of additions, we could be looking at a team that can win the play-offs !
Fantastic today, as mentioned everything our fans want to see in terms of commitment. Definitely the best performance of the season
We've snuck up to put ourselves in a great position. Games in hand mean nothing if we don't win them, and it's the Hastings way to go and lose at East Grinstead on Tuesday. Another must win!
See Jack Harris scored yet again today. Did we let the wrong man go I wonder? It's certainly looking that way. Zac definitely needs a goal and he needs to up his work rate. I still don't think he looks fit to me but if we can get him going and scoring again it will almost be like having a new signing this season. I really hope he can find some form and quickly.
Very good performance and good to watch. But why is Zac playing? Wide left midfield is not his position and no one could honestly say he is worth his place in that position, tyrells pace would surely be a better option. Don't get me wrong not criticising Zac as he is so out of position. Just why did he get the nod to start
Well after what for me was a very frustrating first half ...too many duff crosses ... The second half was absolutely sublime. Have to agree with everything that everyone else has said including an excellent performance by the ref . How many times would we have seen a ref blow up immediately for what was a clear foul on Sammy Adams leading up to the second goal ... But he played a great advantage and boy didn't we make use of it well ? Have to also doubly agree with JohnW about Sammy Adams . He didn't stop running today and looks much happier in that role . His movement would not have gone amiss in the football league today . Yep well done all round 👏👏👏
Enjoyable afternoon at the Pilot Field. So many positives- Harry Girling's vital saves to stop us going behind in the last 10 minutes of the first half when Guernsey were in the game (the only time). Both full backs solid defensively and constructive going forward, Sean excellent, Jack very impressive at the back with the added bonus of his excellent passing out of defence. Simon and Sam were outstanding in midfield and Chris is gaining in confidence on the right. Zac had a difficult game but, to his credit, never stopped trying. Don't think his fitness is back after his long lay off with achilles problems. Sam's workrate was at its usual level and Billy Medlock outshone Ross Allen on the day. We need now to get a consistent run going starting at East Grinstead on Tuesday.
nothing wrong whith being a bad looser. good looser's go nowhere? but i will say that sort of game will get the supporters back. we looked good in patches. play off place on the cards. lets not get carried away though one sunny day don't make summer.
Good to see we beat them and got 3 important points but annoyed i miss what sound like a good performance and good game. PLEASE NO MORE 1PM KICK OFF.
not surprised with the review of attwood. said when he signed that he was not as good as everyone make out struggles with injury and sound like yesterday he is still not fit and did not do much in game. think we did get rid of wrong striker when you see how well harris is doing at hythe now.
should be in play off spot by next saturday as east grinstead 2nd bottom of form table and we now top of it
This issue about the 1 OClock kick off ...for me and at least half dozen other people I spoke to , some who I haven't seen at the PF for years , it was a rare oppotunity for them to see a Saturday match . These people all start work about 5 pm , taxi drivers etc , and it is usually just impossible for them to see a Saturday match . I was a cabbie for 15 years and missed many games , especially during the end of Hastings Town's time .It was just too much of a rush to take start work on time with 3 OClock kick offs . So ,overall I think it was a refreshing change and it certainly seemed to agree with the players . I know it's unlikely to be repeated for a while ,,,but for me ... I loved every minute of it being kicked off early 👏👏👏
Fantastic today, as mentioned everything our fans want to see in terms of commitment. Definitely the best performance of the season
