After the FA exit we will be back for a league game against
The Terrors are currently the number 13th in the table with 18 points out of 12 games. Curiously they won 6 and lost 6 games.
From their 5 home-games they won 2.
Last season we lost at home 0-3 and drew away 1-1.
And we? The number 19th in the table win 5 wins and 5 losses. The table is somehow a little bit confusing because some teams played 10 games and other already 14 or 15!
The discussions after our last games was not about the results but more the way we played. Lot of us thought we brought some really good quality players but it seems we only play long balls. Hopefully this game we will see a different Hastings United . Let's hope a lot of HU supporters will make the trip to the Imperial Fields.
Indeed Tim. John's analysis in another thread was to the point. The upcoming sequence of league games is very important. If we play at our best, then we stand a good chance of winning many of them and of drastically improving our position in the table. Realistically, if all goes reasonably well, we can hope that we can be in a top five position by the turn of the year. We certainly have the quality in the squad. I won't revisit the matter of team selection and tactics at this point beyond expressing the wish that at least one of our quicker players plays from the start tomorrow.
A good three points...thanks for the updates, Pat.
Interesting that FoolballWebPages have us in the final play-off place in their "predicted final table".
Why is it interesting mick its not rocket science just a web site having a bit of fun. Good result today we need to back it up on Tuesday to get ourselves back in a sensible position to challenge, especially with Folkestone losing a good sequence of results could keep things interesting
We were much the better side today and deserved the win. We could of been 2-0 up in the first 5 minutes, if it hadn't of been for some wasted opportunities. Although not as good a performance as Tuesday certainly some good performances, Walder and Cole alongside Rowe were superb at the back, Crutts grew into the game and certainly put in a good shift second half, Medlock showed he is a real handful when played up front and scored a good header. I'm sure that everyone else would agrees with me when I say that I thought that the penalty was rather harsh? I'm not complaining though.
One concern to me is that we still give the ball away to easily. Tuesday will be a much tougher game and hope that two wins on the bounce will be a real confidence booster.
lenny, i was stood behind the goal and it was a stonewall penalty, even the ref said there was no attempt made to play the ball, the thing that surprised me was as he was the last man no red card was shown !! still, a good result. and it's good to see the guys getting used to the 3, 5, 2 formation. COYU's
Have to agree with Deadball here Lenny, was a stonewall penalty to me, and the ref said so himself. Much better performance today, but agree that we need to go up a gear for Tuesday night.
Good game and some decent football. I thought Sam Cruttwell and Billy Medlock were the best of an outstanding team performance and the back three certainly changed my view on formation. I was standing to the right of the goal and we all thought it was a soft penalty, but our supporters who were to the left of Tooting's goal all said it was a stonewall penalty and a red card.
Agree with Barry, we should have had two goals very early on but if we give the young lads more game time they will settle and I believe will get us goals.
Nice to see selection problems for Gary as he is building a very capable squad.
Well done to all and thanks for the entertainment and three points.
Billy could be the difference tuesday if we play to his strength 's what he's getting paid he should be as well Worthing could pay 4! or 5 players for his money ????
Have to agree with Deadball here Lenny, was a stonewall penalty to me, and the ref said so himself. Much better performance today, but agree that we need to go up a gear for Tuesday night.
With all penalties the angle from which you view it can change a lot of peoples opinions, from where you see it, I'm still to see a referee award a penalty and then hold his hand up and admit he's got it wrong after the game, so I'm not surprised that he said it was a stone wall penalty. Suffice to say I'm not going to complain that he gave it but feel that if we had that awarded against us we'd be shouting and raving about it.
