It is an all pay game Mick, season tickets are not valid for this fixture. The club are proposing a reduced entry fee however Hythe have to agree to this first. As soon as I am aware of the price I will post on here.
lets not forget those clubs that charge u16s to get in as well. I think I had to pay £4 at Ramsgate for my 11 year old and pretty sure Herne Bay were the same last season. I think the Pilot Field is excellent value when you take in the bar and food on offer compared to others such as Sittingbourne, Chipstead, Walton Casuals etc.
We certainly aren't the dearest club in the league as Dan says they're a lot of clubs who charge £10 and an U18 policy is very generous considering a lot of clubs charge for 16+.
Interesting and rare to see the bar prices had been reduced massively too ( from £3.50 to £2.90 a pint, I presume one if the sponsors ( Colemans ) helped with this too.
dont think normal admission price is unreasonable as long as football entertainment. league cup game proice does not bother me cos cant do tuesday. dont tthink prices for anything is that ott but the food bar price for a sausage and chip at £3.50 is way to high for a standard sausage that probably cost 10p when chips are £2. but as programme said food bar now franchise then i expect the company have to make as much as possible. agree that kids should be free and remember taking my son to met police few years ago and had to pay i think it was £6 for a 16 year old!
With our defeat at Chatham - and a consequent awareness from the comments of those who attended that there is much work to do - this league cup game presents an opportunity to try out different options and player combinations. Worth turning up, I suggest.
I agree apart I have jibodu rb n Alfie hall lb as thought apart the assist that crabb must been carrying a knock as not tracking back in second half at all
The management team made it clear at the forum that youth players and those not getting match time would play in the league cup whilst the Sussex cup would be taken more seriously. No way will Pelling come down from London for this, possibly a debut for Dan Rose and the Liam Foster and Holden will surely start also as they have signed on.
Don't think it's fair to say that Dan Ross isn't good enough at this level. Like John said, how do we know if he's never played at this level before? If he's signed for the first team then I reckon he's good enough. Admittedly he may not be up to Pelling's calibre, but it'd be nice to give him a run out and let him show us what he can do! He certainly matched Matt Cruttwell on the 'Put One Past Cruttwell/Rose' earlier this year...
Dan might be a very good prospect but he has only played one game for the Under 21's (reserves) other than that its been youth football so I think it would be hugely unfair to put him in the first team at this stage.
He needs to play lots of adult football before being thrown off the deep end, like Matt Cruttwell who is dual registered with Little Common for the 2nd year running.
Certainly plenty of entertainment again tonight. Creating good positions doesn't seem to be the problem....it's turning them into goals that we are finding hard.....but at least we are making chances which we didn't do last season and we did at least get the result that we deserved at the end.
Still struggling to recognise all the new faces and I guess it will take a while for Gary to know what his preferred starting eleven will be.
An interesting game. A mixed bag of performances. Sam Adams had a particularly good first half and scored a great goal. Bright Temba was most impressive, he was very very quick and deserved his goal. Sam Cruttwell had a good game playing wide left. Not Josh Pelling's best display though he was not at fault for Hythe's goals. Tom Vickers faded and was substituted - perhaps a knock?
We dominated for long spells, but we only secured the game late on when Jack Harris came on. He didn't score but somehow gave the attack more edge. Defensive frailties were apparent throughout. Hythe only had two clear cut chances and took both. We had goodness knows how many half chances and it looked for a long time as though our failure to convert those would prove costly. Well, lessons to learn; but it is not easy to see that the performance or the result are a forecast for the 'real' encounter on Saturday.
A positive I would say is that was clearly a very changed team for us yet could easily have been Hythes first team ( no youngsters visible amongst others ) which implies good things for Sat hopefully.
With better finishing we could have pulled clear a lot earlier ( especially the otherwise very impressive Alan Foster clearing the cross bar from 3 yards )
Thought Bright and Tyrell looked a good partnership and the options of pace and directness they give could be invaluable in addition to the Zac and Jack 'starting' partnership.
That goal from Sam is certainly an early contender for GOTS especially as for a second or two the crowd didn't know how to react when the ball got stuck in the stanchion!
Not really sure what to make of last night but the biggest positive has to be that Hythe appeared to play just about their best 11 whilst we probably only played 3 that are likely to start on Saturday.
Offensively, the Hythe defence just could not handle the pace of Tyrell and Bright who tore them apart time after time but unfortunately, as last season, they just miss so many chances, but what a weapon to have off the bench last quarter of a game. I was once again very disappointed with Tom Vickers and he appears to have a lot of work to do to get back to his old self. I thought the fringe players did okay without any of them really sending out a message to the management team whilst defensively we still look a bit wobbly and the sooner Ollie gets back from Thailand the better. Thought Sam was terrific again and he just seems to get better with age.
Still, a wins a win and its a nice habit to have, but Saturday is the important one. Hythe looked really poor defensively and I think we can cause them massive problems with Jack and Zac (if hes fit). Not sure on the Walder and Okoh situation, but based on what I saw last night I would expect us to win comfortably on Saturday.
That was good entertainment for a league cup tie. Hythe played well with Shaun Welford still playing really well. Wonder how many times Sean has played against him. We could probably do with another commanding defender otherwise we might be a bit vulnerable if Sean gets injured. Good to see promising displays from our younger players.
