I thought we looked good against a strong whitehawk side I think we looked really strong I think our number 5 (named only as trislist) looked good again so did our number 7 again being named as a trialist. Good to see Sammy Adams back on the field thought he had a strong game as always I don't think our number 4 was any good kept giving ball away scared to challamge think they can say no thankyou to our number 4 today don't think he's good enough but all in all I'm optimistic of a good season this year something all loyal hastings supports deserve after last season can't wait for it to start!!!!

Yep, 7 and 5 were excellent again today and really disappointing to see the number 5 leave the Pilot Field on crutches. lets hope its not too bad. These two guys have to be signed! I thought we competed really well today against a top quality National South team who will surely be pushing for promotion to the conference this season. Once again, the boys looked fit and sharp against a big, physical and very skilful side. Still think we look a little lightweight in the centre of the park but down the right and left we look very strong, with excellent full backs in behind as well. I think Gary and Danny have some really difficult decisions to make, and I remember at the forum they said they would be looking to play their strongest team at both Eastbourne and Ringmer, so we should all be a lot clearer this time next week as to our strongest 11.

For what its worth mine would be,

Pelling, Crabb, Ray, Trialist, Jibodu

Trialist, Walder, Adams, Cole

Harris, Attwood

Subs Hall, Tyrell, Alan Foster, Hollobone, Cunnington.

Amazing to think that still leaves the likes of Holden, Temba, Hanifan and Crutwell, and we still have Ollie Rowe to come in. Fantastic competition.

Great to see the mystery created by the term The Triallist, conjuring up images of WWF fighters e.g.
The Undertaker
Naming Zak as a new potential signing, before he had signed, could have been overcome by his wearing a mask as in WWF. Anonymous players in masks and referred to as The Trialist etc would be good for crowds.
Understand that in 2 weeks there could be a smaller figure wearing a mask if we believed his father a couple of years ago

I agree with johnw starting 11 but only thing I would change is cruttwell for hollobourne I just think sam has showed just a bit more it's great to be thinking of what subs would be best as johnw said the management have a hard decision to make on there starting 11

I saw Tyrell coming in this afternoon with a suitcase said to barry he was off to Spain so guessing here be missing minimum a week while he's on holiday unless it was a business trip as font know what he does for a gmjob

From the opening exchanges I thought we were on for a hiding, especially the way Whitehawk passed the ball around so comfortably. In contrast to last 2 friendlies we really needed to dig in and we were never going to be able to produce the attacking football shown in those games.Thought everyone showed willingness to compete all over the park as they are obviously fighting for places.Would not discount the number 4,thought he had a decent game considering the quality of opposition

Seems Brinkhurst played for Lewes again yesterday and scored in a 6-0 win against Hassocks so maybe not back again after all!

Thought yesterday was actually a really good display against a side that have been beating higher opposition than us regularly recently and even went to Dover and beat them 4-1 recently so a close hard fought 1-0 loss is not a bad result considering the performance all round was very good from a Hastings point of view.

Despite being closely marshalled yesterday I think that the trialist at '7' would cause big damage to most sides in the Ryman South with his pace, skill and directness and should defiantly be signed up ASAP. Would defiantly have him starting at RW based on those 2 games despite not knowing his name or anything about him!

Thought both CB trialists did well and very unfortunate that the 5 got badly injured. Hopefully not as serious as it looked as both looked solid.

Not 100% sure who should partner Jack Walder in CM, liked the look of Alan Foster but he didn't play either of the last two games so not sure what has happened there? Sam Adams most likely but needs to catch up fitness wise. Hollobone also looks decent and could easily fit in there though too!

Attwood and Harris up front look set to be the front two with Tyrell and Bright good pacy options.

At Full back I would go for Jibodu and Crabb initially as both look capable of attacking help yet decent defensively.

Sam Cole looks excellent and will make LW his own.

Excited for the first game on the 8th now!

good post dan and cant disgaree with anythink you say. whitehawk were strong well organise and we held our own against them and made chances and the late goal disappointing but performance gives hope. only seen the 2 saturday friendlys but think we should get to play offs even if i said before that we would be top 10 but not play off. the new regime certainly have made lot of money available for this title push. imagine attwood must be on 300 plus must be highest budget ever and fingers cross we can celebrate in april.
folkestone still look favourite to me interesting they thump ashford yesterday who i though would be quite strong so hope that ashford weeker if it is them we play in fa cup.

That's good to know then mate, in which case I'd have him alongside Jack Walder in the heart of midfield initially, looked to have made a huge step up from E Sussex football very well. Gather he's around 26 as well which makes it even more impressive in a way!

I was chatting to Stuart Playford yesterday who was saying that he told him a long time ago that he was playing beneath himself and needed to make the step up. Glad he has now done that, it looks like we've found a little gem.

The only game I'll probably manage to get to until a midweek game in the season. But was very impressed with what I saw, we played well against a very good Whitehawk side. My first impressions of Whitehawk were that they were just that little bit sharper, quicker and stronger, passed the ball very well, however was pleased with the way we dug in and look very threatening the last 15 minutes or so of the first half.

Our No.7 yesterday looks a very good player, I hope he signs as he'll definitely cause defenders problems in our league.

Funnily enough was talking about teams in the East Sussex League the other day at work, one of the guys is involved at Peche Hill and said Alan Foster had been their most outstanding player the past few seasons and had heard he'd left to join a team higher up, good luck to him!
