Saw a cracking game of football at the Pilot Field last night. A really entertaining 1-1 draw. Sam Crutwell scored with an assist from his goalkeeper brother Matt. Sam was a revelation playing centre midfield. Both teams played their part in an open game. Shame only32 people saw it.
i think good to develop but to be in culture where it is ok to lose i think is wrong and think at early age you must have players that used to winning and want to win otherwise you end up with a team that has no fight and defeat does not hurt and that is like our first team now
I think you both may be missing the point ... 18s & 21s are in these teams usually for 1 of 3 reasons,
1, to bring promising young players up to speed, so they are ready for the front side,
2, to give recovering players game time, to see if they are fit enough to return.
3, to trial potential new signings.
And as such both teams can experience quite a high turn over of players, leaving a mixture of playing ability on the pitch, which although not good for the score line, does make it easier to spot the guys that have what it takes and are willing to go the extra and dig deep, and more importantly have the right mental attitude to come back from a defeat, and are willing to give it all for the team, again and again if needed.
These guys are the ones that don't want to lose ... ever !! but will still travel 50 miles to play for "their team", and for no money !! And Why ? Because they want to play for the front side.
So to write off both teams based on scorelines, when there is probably half a dozen potentially exceptional players on each, is severely short sighted to my mind.
Try watching their games ..... you may be pleasantly surprised by a few.
