We've heard this evening that Peter Huggins, a long term supporter of Hastings United sadly passed away last night. Peter could often be seen sitting by the tea bar and had to use a stick to aid him to walk. As yet the cause of Peters death is unclear however I'm sure everyone will join me in sending our condolences to Peters family and let them know that our thoughts are with them at this sad time.
Very sad news but yes he did have a great sense of humour and would always spare time to talk football, RIP "Mr Dengate's". Those of you of a certain age will know what I mean by that .
Very sad indeed. Peter always liked a drink on a Friday at Churchills where we used to rib him over his likeness of Fabio Capello. Always a laugh and friendly. RIP Peter and condolences to his family. A minutes silence or applause on Saturday I presume?

Very sad news indeed. Peter was one of the Chairman of the club who I had the pleasure of working with during my 14 years as Treasurer. And yes Windy I know what you mean by Mr Dengate, I spent a bit of time each day talking to Peter when delivering the post to Dengates. Condolences to Gill and family. RIP PETER.
Very sad news. Used to always share a drink with Peter & Gill whenever we were in Churchills on a Saturday night. Great bloke who was very passionate about Hastings United and a good laugh. . From many chats I had with him, I know that he has been on the Sussex FA, referee and a cricket umpire in his time! RIP Peter. You will be sadly missed They don't make blokes like you these days
Very sorry to hear this news. I knew Peter from the local football and cricket scene in the 80s before I moved away from Hastings, he was indeed a distinctive figure in those glasses! He just loved his sport. Rest in peace, Peter, and sincere sympathy to his family.x

Good picture, Dave. Forgot family friend Shwanny was part of this team. He is now at Bury but sadly not even making the bench at the moment. A quality keeper nonetheless.
Peter's Funeral will be on Wednesday 25th February at 12-30pm at Hastings Crematorium. Family flowers only. Donations can be made to St Michaels Hospice.
What a lovely service at the Crem today ,,, nice to see a few old boys from the Pilot Field there ...Dave Ormerod , Tony Cosens, Dave Nessling amongst others ,,, RIP Peter
