After the unexpected postponed match against Ramsgate we will meet on the first day of the New Year HytheTown.jpg

Hythe Town is currently on place 20 in the table, just one place below us with 27 games played and got 26 points.

On Monday August 25 we won at home 2-1 ( goals Cook and Sawyer) Last year we won at home 3-2 ( goals Sawyer,Vickers and Pogue ) and away we won 1-2 by 2 goals from Kenny ( a 90 minute winner ) KennyPogue.jpg

Hythe Town played 14 times at home this season; won 3 drew 6 and lost 5.

Hythe Town plays at : Reachfields Stadium , Hythe  image.jpg

This is a must win game for us. Seeing that Redhill and Walton Casuals are just 6 points below us with games in hand we need to get away from the bottom. The only way to do that is winning this game and with the game against leaders Burgess coming up we have to win this game. It is a pity that the game against Ramsgate was called off but staff and players and of course the travelling supporters must all give a 100%. I think seeing his scoring record against them Kenny has to play. And that makes me confident! Come on your U'sssssss!

Agree with Bert that this is a really important game.
A defeat would leave us in a very uncomfortable position near the bottom....and no doubt Hythe will be feeling the same so I think we can expect a close game with plenty of commitment from both sides.
I rarely stick my neck out with predictions but I'll guess we sneak a narrow win.

Hey mick aren't we already in a very uncomfortable position in the league, and hey FatBloke, I wonder why the fans are depressed. We have tried to be positive all season but look where we are for the New Year. Hey BertNEC every game is a must win from now on if we want to be in this league next season. Still positive we can win at Hythe. Good Luck team.

Hi again all

These days I am filming games for Hythe, having done a number for Hastings in the past. This means that you will be able to view match highlights via the BKVP Sport forum around two days after the game is finished.

Here's looking forward to a great contest.

I will post details of highlights when they are ready.

Another grim performance today against the worst team I have seen this season. On a quite shocking pitch, Hastings huffed and puffed there way to another defeat and head precariously towards the relegation places with Burgess Hill on the horizon.

Difficult to be over critical of individuals today because Hastings found themselves in the incredible position of having only 13 players available including a Little Common loanee. Of the 13 we had 5 strikers so no guesses as to the way the game panned out, with at times Hastings appearing to have 4 upfront with Taser and Evan incapable of tracking back. Someone please tell me how a club like Hastings, with u18 and u21 teams, can only put out 13, It's a disgrace and not the first time this season. I'll let others comment on the match but needless to say that Vickers apart, who was outstanding, it was dreadful all round. There was absolutely no shape to the side, players were just wondering all over the pitch and very little coming from the bench. Today, was the first time ever, that I actually believe we can be relegated. Where do we go from here?

The conversation in our car was along the lines of your penultimate sentence, John. As things stand we simply are not good enough and we have to accept that relegation is a real possibility, however unthinkable, unless there are some drastic improvements.
The first half was probably as bad as anything I have seen. We looked slow, unfit, disorganised and generally clueless about creating anything and were lucky to be only one down at the break. Yes, the pitch was dreadful but Hythe still managed to cause us problems while we barely got within 50 yards of their goal. It was woeful. Tom and Sam seemed to get us a bit more fired up after the break but the extra bit of quality/skill/pace that would bring us an equaliser was always lacking.
I have to say Dom seems to see things in players that I can't see. In my opinion this Paul Robinson just lacks the mobility to play at this level. There's no comparison between him and, say, Ronnie Dolan......which probably explains why we are in the position we are in now. Good players have been replaced by inferior ones.
I hate being so negative....but we simply don't seem to be progressing at all at the moment and, even more worryingly, think the large number of travelling supporters could have expected a whole lot more effort in what was effectively a vital 'six pointer' today.
I will be there again on Saturday.... but more in hope than expectation !

"Grim..unfit...disorganised...generally clueless...." We're on our way to the Sussex County League. Argue as much as you like, WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH - there is no evidence to say otherwise. We're going down with a whimper and that saddens me, as a fan for over 40 years. Shameful.

In fairness is it necessary to play on New Years Day for players? Sussex County league have stopped doing so in order for players to spend time drinking and being with family. It looked like one or two were a little hung over and still slow from too much Christmas pud this afternoon! Now I recon that Saturday could be a turning point and how good would it be to be the first team to beat Burgess Hillbillies in the league, this followed by 2 relatively easy games against Horsham and East Grinstead....this could be the 3 wins in a row the manager is asking for.....you never know !!!! We have to believe.................

Why would anyone think Horsham and East Grinstead are easy? I would guess both teams are looking forward to playing us at present and EG have just won their last 3 games. Hurts to say but based on today I will be hoping that our goal difference does not take a hammering on Saturday and would settle for a narrow defeat.........that's what it has now come to.

The problem doesn't lie with manager, coaching staff or players IMO. But only with one man. I am sure you can all guess who. Time for a change? Otherwise it's county one, no players and probably no club! I've never said this before and maybe I am talking out of turn, but I believe one man is making this an impossible job.

I have a few thoughts going through my mind about this current situation particularly how we can move forward. It is easy for us to play the blame game but how far will that really get us?

My interpretation (agree or disagree) as a fan is that there is something missing at the club but I don't know what that is. A number of excuses/ reasons have arisen over the last few weeks on this board such as fitness issues, availability, desire, the manager, the chairman, playing surfaces and playing style. Some of the things the majority of supporters would agree on and some of them attract more debate.

When Dom took over things were looking bleak in my opinion. Just 2 of these things were fitness and the football we were playing. I wonder if he came in and thought which would pick up more points. Hitting the fitness hard or working on the football that was being played by experimenting with tactics and players. I believe that dom chose to focus on the latter. By doing this he needed players in that he knew would understand what he wanted to do and would be happy to give it a go. Some of the players he would have chosen might not be as good as what we already had or could get but he needed a skeleton a players to build from. I believe we train twice a week? At this level can we try a different structure and work fitness levels to a point where they should have been after a good pre season.

If a number of players were missing today for whatever reason and it was a last minute thing then I really feel for the coaching staff who probably knew today was going to be a struggle.

So moving forward what do we do? Get rid of the coaching staff and leave ourselves in an even more precarious situation. Look for yet more players to play and run the risk of getting in ones that are only interested on their terms and for their own career? I think we are now at a point where we have to just dig in and graft. The table doesn't lie so we need to work and work and work.

When the end of the season comes around (hopefully we stay up) the manager (whoever that is) can be given good time to work on building a decent squad, can weed out some of the players he doesn't want, can get the players fit and can build a structure to move forward. Building a structure for the future was not conceivable half way through a season. At a professional club with more time on the training ground and with more money things could have been different.

I don't really know what the answers are and am not going to criticise things without knowing the ins and outs. I more wanted to share opinions I have with my friends at games or after them. I should also mention I wasn't at the game today so am simply basing this on gut feeling.

What on earth is going on here? The club is in a seemingly uncontrollable freefall. We are becoming a laughing stock.Totally unacceptable and disgraceful position. Can't imagine what the Chairman's forum is going to be like.

tried his best but never got settle side and player he got in not as good as ones that went especially Dolan and wonder if in end players did not want to play for him giving number not there today being final straw for him. think we thought it was a good brave move to get young manager but gamble that failed.
It is a mess good luck mark think burgess hill will like that as think we struggle to get side out saturday.
