After the draw against Redhill we now have the away game against Chipstead.jpg

Chipstead is currently on place 10 in the table with 33 points out of 22 games. They scored 34 and conceded 32. Top scorer and also captain of the team is Dan Moody with 11 goals.

We played against them already at home August 16 and we lost 0-1.

Last year we also lost the home game, now with 0-2 ( goals from Turl and Moody ) and won away 0-1 ( goal from Maclean )

They have also a game this evening against unbeaten Burgess Hill.

They play at the NRT Stadium, High Road, Chipstead. Pigeon Stand

And Hastings United? We have problems of getting away from the bottom of the table. We create chances but somehow we can't score enough goals to win games.

Reading the latest match reports we created against Redhill 9 efforts on target, 6 off . Against Uckfield 5 on target,6 off. Against Casuals 7 on target and 5 off. Against Walton 5 on and 7 off. That should be enough to at least score more goals.

The pressure on our defense would be less if we perform better upfront. So let's hope Kenny Pogue, Sam Adams , Taser Hassan, Tom Vickers and Jordan Woodley  JordanWoodley3.jpg will create enough chances and score a few!

Faith in the team and management is now what we need. 100% support of the team will bring more then negativism. Criticism on performances from the team is often necessary but only to bring the team forward. During the 90 minutes - i believe strongly - only 100% support will help Dom's team.

So hopefully a lot of Hastings supporters will make the trip and i will settle for the same result last year away.

Missed the last few away games so really looking forward to this. Nice, quaint little ground Chipstead although on last visit I remember a 2 page programme and no music or tanoy system on the day. Was there first game of last season when Terry and Stapes led us to a 1nil win before embarking on a great run of 6 wins and a draw from our first 7 games. Oh, to go on another run like that. Would like to see Keehan back in midfield to give us some legs and creativity as he seems to have fallen out of favour lately. Definitely the best of the EP signings. I fancy another 1nil win and a rare clean sheet.

I was chatting with him Saturday John, he's carrying a knock and finding it hard to shift. Nothing at all about being out of favour, hes a class player with the engine of a Ferrarri.

Hope Rose is back as has been a lot better of recent and more comfortable at LB than Charlie I feel ( assuming Brinkhurst plays at RB )

If be tempted to have Charlie alongside Razor though

Hope Sam Cruttwell gets to play somewhere from the start as well.

Cheers Baz, didn't realise. Really like Keehan and definitely one to build our team around in the future. Agree about Rose also. Felt Charlie really struggled against Redhill. That bloody left back position gives me nightmaresfurious. I hear Roberto Carlos is looking for a non league club to follow in the footsteps of Soctrates who turned out for Garforth Town a few years back. Now that would be a pay for a player deal I would like to be part off.

3 important games coming starting with Chipstead, next Saturday away to Herne Bay and then on Monday home to ( Champions? ) Burgess Hill. I hope for 3 or 4 points from these 3 games.

Bert,   Burgess Hill is not a League match. It's the Sussex Senior cup.

Hope we play better than we did in the home match against Chipstead. See Redhill lost 4-0 to Worthing midweek. Badly in need of a morale boosting win. Would like to see us start with: Pelling: Brinkhurst Ray Farmer Cruttwell: Hopkinson Adams Keehan Hassan: Pogue Woodley/Archibald. Go for the win!

Win

Agreed Tim - we all need a morale booster today. Here's hoping we can get behind the team as one this afternoon and that the players will bring the points home

So far so good, Taser header.

Just a reminder as well, as it's 2 years today since that magical night

Anyone who was at the game want to make a comment or is it far too depressing? What makes it even more depressing is reading Winchy's post.We are a million miles off that team in just two years.Incidently, saw that Crellin and Whitehead were sent off today

Yup...what a memorable night that was....seems a long time ago now and sadly we have to focus on the realisation that we are currently deep in a relegation battle. It seems unthinkable that we really could be playing at County level next season but three points from 18 tell their own story.
Have we been unlucky as Dom has suggested ? Well, we're certainly not getting stuffed week after week and you can argue that any draw or one goal defeat could easily have produced a better outcome simply by one incident at either end going our way. All that said, shouldn't we be having most of the clubs in this league for breakfast and not relying on luck ?
The two holiday games are suddenly very important and we desperately need to find a win or two from somewhere.

So that's 7 league games without a win, and only one win in 10! It's a good job there's a couple of teams that are marginally worse than us, or we'll be bottom by Christmas. Perhaps we have been unlucky. Perhaps we simply aren't good enough. Either way, we need to have a right go in the next 3 weeks or we are well and truly County League bound. I feel sorry for Bert, who is always optimistic - I'd say the points target he set was reasonable. Shame the players couldn't deliver yet again. I'd like somebody who was at the game to say we were fantastic but very unlucky....

Simple we desperately need someone who can regularly put our chances away. Plus we need forwards, who against a team playing a high line, continually kept being caught offside .

It was a bitterly cold afternoon - my fingers have only just thawed! I'm not sure that it's a case of us not being good enough to be honest. I haven't thought that we were poles apart from any of our last few opponents. Defensively we did ok but things broke down too many times in the final third again and that was the difference. We need to create more openings and we need to finish more chances. It's as simple as that.

I don't think anyone could blame anyone for their equaliser, great strike through a group of players, Josh was obviously unsighted. The player struck that so sweet that I bet if he had another 10 of those he'd score maybe 1. I think we are creating chances Pat but need to be more clinical with those opportunities, From memory they had two chances and scored both Im sure that we had a few more good chances but was left lacking. I thought that our offside count was ridiculous, there was 9 offside decisions in the first half alone, I couldn't see myself whether or not they were all good decisions but we shouldn't be in that situation, it's not the hardest thing in the world to look across a line is it surely?
Good to see Tas get yet another goal, but I think he needs to work on that celebration, it looked like he had cramp the way he busted those moves.

Another day of disappointment for team and supporters, What is going wrong, what areas of the club can be improved to bring us back on track! Promotion back to where we belong now seems impossible this season. What can be done from boardroom down to ensure a decent promotion bid next season, I think the considerable support that Hastings Utd get week in week out and the prices we pay deserves so much better. Still enjoy going to watch Hastings Utd but will that continue if we are relegated. Obviously gates would fall and a lot of atmosphere would be gone and will be difficult to build again. A good place to start would be our next home game in front of loyal supporters. Come on Hastings we are all behind you.

I missed their equaliser as it was just after half time and I don't think I was paying much attention. The first half, I thought we played well. Created a lot of chances, but the linesman kept putting his flag up. I've just looked on the website and we were caught offside 14 times throughout the game, 10 of which must've been in the first half. What's more, the problem was, even when the flag was up late, we still weren't putting the chances away. We had one goal disallowed for offside, from a free kick, which Chipstead played for, but every other time there was a late flag, it was either wide or straight at the keeper.

Taser' header was excellent and well deserved after a lot of time trying to create chances. The second half we just didn't create enough, which shows in the score line.

I'm not really one for negative comments, but Evan Archibald. The lad had two unbelievable chances. The first being released after a sublime headed ball from Sean Ray. Evan was clean through on goal with only the goalkeeper to beat, seemed it was easier to score but instead shot straight at the keeper. The second glorious chance came from a cross - Archibald again, unmarked but headed right at the goalkeeper. Kenny Pogue came on for the last ten minutes or so, but couldn't quite get the service up front he was looking for.

Overall, not a bad performance, but we need to start taking our chances. It's getting extremely frustrating and if we keep squandering chances, this could get very unpleasant. We are way to good for county league football. Herne Bay is going to be a tough test on Saturday, but, keep the faith!

Err..way too good for County League football? Is the league table lying then? Herne Bay is now a tough game? And I'm sorry, but I don't care what our goal celebrations are like, I'm more concerned we aren't getting enough practice. There's almost a sense of resignation creeping in and that's disastrous. Our squad doesn't appear to be built for a relegation dogfight. However, our fate is still in our hands and unless we wake up and smell the coffee, we'll be relegated. It's as simple as that. Perhaps that's what people want, so we can be BillyBigtime fish in a small, turgid pond, and maybe stuff Arundel/Hailsham/EP et al 8-0. If that happens, I don't see us surviving. That's how serious this is, and until we realise this, we're in trouble. You don't get out of these situations being nice. Its time to show if we've got the b*lls to scrap for every single point, to give every last ounce of effort. Starting now...not in January.

Forgot to ask if we had Chipstead watched before Saturday? Presumably we would have known in advance that they play a high line and look for offsides? We would then have used a plan with third man runs from deep, or clipping in behind and turning them round? Perhaps we wouldn't have been offside so often. Just a thought?

I'm not sure that making a wise crack about Tasers awful dance and trying to be optimistic is a sign that any of us are resigned to relegation, but even if the supporters were its the team that counts. I didn't see lack of effort which is always a good start.

I have to agree with Overthehill, this is getting really serious now. We are not too good to go down and the form table proves that. Over the past few seasons we have always been able to magic up some brilliant loan signing to save the day such as Harry Pell, Harry Beautymen, George Porter etc. Lets hope Dom can pull another rabbit out of the hat and find us another as this squad is showing no signs of improvement. Ronnie Dolan would be a start biggrin

Hastings v Ramsgate on Boxing day looking absolutely massive for the club.

Yes, John, the table don't lie and it is serious.
We have to pick up some points soon and personally i think Herne Bay would be a perfect start.
But Dom, staff and players need to realize that this fight will require 100% commitment ; and - say it once more - also from the supporters.
