After the great display and result against leaders Faversham we will now play
Walton & Hersham are currently 16th in the table, just one place below us. Played 18 and got 22 points, just like us but with a goal difference off -11.
They lost against Faversham 5-0 ( see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AH5FWObJVuM ) got a big win against Hythe Town 4-1 and last Tuesday they won in the Robert Dyas Cup against Merstham with 2-1 with the opening goal from former Hastings player Jahmahl King.
And Hastings United? What a win can do with club, forum and people.Hopefully the team can now put in a series of consecutive wins and climb up in the table. The team under Dom Di Paola seems to play a different style now and got the reward they deserved. But in this League i think you can't predict 100% wins for every club so each time you have to be 100% committed. With hopefully a lot of people coming to The Pilot Filed on Saturday and with this big support i hope the 3 points stay here.
Come on your U'ssss.

How did Joe Shelley do on Sat? haven't been able to see anything of him since his first game at Whyteleafe
If Keehan is back from suspension it means one of Keehan, Shelley, Timmy or Sammy probably having to sit out initially assuming the gaol scorers Ade, Tas & Kenny are all retained in the starting 11, Difficult choices!
Nice headache to have for Dom. As the old cliche goes you shouldn't change a winning side but in all honesty Dom made it clear that he likes numbers in the squad so he has different options for different games to combat and capitalise on opposition weaknesses.
I believe Keehan is back on Saturday and missed just one game. The midfield was quite dominating on Saturday Dan and Shelley added a lot to the game.
You're forgetting Euro 96 Lenny, England 4 Holland 1 Shearer 2 Sheringham 2 and a late Kluivert goal to put Scotland out I think. One of the best England performances in my lifetime. I take your general point though.

To be honest I did think of that General, I was really thinking of an over all situation. In my opinion Holland are the best team in the world to have never won the World Cup.
I see that tom Vickers has played for the u21s the last couple of games, how was his fitness after injury and was there any others in the u21 team that could provide good back up?
Looking forward to a game I thought I might have to miss but I will be there trusty walking stick in hand. I will have to sit in the stand but hope to be back pitch side soon.
Not on Monday's performance Sindy. Jordan looked a lot slimmer and played well as did Tom but there was little else to fire the passions. They were 4 or 5 regulars short I believe but not a good performance.

Couldn't agree more Lenny, three finals and no wins doesnt do justice to the teams they've produced
Ade Olorunda is away and Kevin Keehan is suspended, while Sean Ray is unlikely to be fit and fellow centre-half Marc Pullan is also struggling. Ronnie Dolan has joined Folkestone Invicta .
And Mitchell Hand is maybe leaving HUFC.

Desperately poor from Hastings today and a bigger concern than the performance was the body language of some of the players today, something I never thought I would see just half a dozen games in to Dom's tenure. The passing was average throughout we had no cutting edge and as Tim said, our opponents looked like they were in first gear throughout, and surprise surprise, Jamahl King looked the best player on the park. Couldn't really understand why Kenny played out wide left, we STILL have a problem at left back and I am afraid Archibald looks way too light weight for this level of football. Is it any coincidence he was playing for Rye in county 1 a year ago? The only real positive for me was Pullen at the back but apart from that no different from what I have seen over the past 2 seasons. And just finally, someone please tell me how a team like Hastings, with teams at all age levels, only manage to put out 3 subs? Very poor after the highs of last week.
Very disappointing performance today after last weeks great victory. First half was very poor with only one decent effort from KP. We just seemed short of ideas and I felt Archibald didn't have the physical presence needed to lead the attack at this level. Think we need Ade back fast. Liked the look of Shelley...I think he can be a useful acquisition but Farmer was disappointing...his distribution was poor but probably not as bad as poor Sam C. whose passing was awful at times today. Second half was a little better......but not much and we didn't really ever look like getting anything until the last four minutes. What was encouraging was to see Jordan looking a whole lot trimmer and proving a real threat when he came on. Poor ref but won't blame him for the defeat. Still early days in Dom's reign but based on what we saw today the play-offs seem a long way away from becoming a reality.
ps Hadn't read your assessment when I wrote this, John. Interesting that our assessment of Archibald was exactly the same.

Quite depressing really, was really looking forward to today, all the hype and that !
and then it hit me, because I missed two home games whilst on holiday this year, I haven`t seen United win a game since last season, bit of a worry, don`t you think? and today did nothing to make me think it will improve in the near future. I remember when we went down, some people were saying we would be straight back, but others saying, its a god awful league to get out of...............
So you only spend your £10 on guaranteed wins or good performances Gaz? Blimey based on that thought you would have been gone from Hastings ages ago. Proper supporter! Even people like Barry and Chrisb who I tend to disagree with on certain things go week in week out bad and earn my 100% respect for that. We may disagree but they are proper Hastings supporters. But the fact that this was your first for 7 or so games suggests you are not.
See you on the next winning run then! #nonleaguefairweatherfan
To be clear am not saying that today's game was anything like the quality we want and also I have to now re-sit the entire experience for many hours to edit the 'highlights' for the benefit of the people on here who may want to watch them Which is neither a club role or paid but something hopefully some may appreciathe apart from just me So put your £10 In context against that plus the hours spent doing the programme and FB page and maybe not post as if your being ripped off in a sport where unless you support Chelsea or Real Madrid you may be disappointed sometimes.....
can not believe how bad we was today after last week. where faversham off there game last week. was it just bad day at office but whatever reason it was disappointing to watch today and i think maybe some players dom bring in are not good enough week in week out. dont like to single player out but like others said here Archibald is nowhere near good enough and why just 3 on bench like John say. it is bad management when there is other hastings team to not use players. yes worry to that players did not look bothered today no fight shoulders down very poor and did not look much motivation. hope dom learns he need to fast as he is not in county league now and obious standard higher and he need to adapt quick and have player good enough to play in ryman
It's entirely understandable that there are some pretty negative views after this performance. Walton are an average side but one who didn't look stretched at any point; and we just didn't have any sort grip on the game. Yes, there were injuries and unavailabilities, we were (again) at the wrong end of most of some pretty poor refereeing, and an unaccustomed error by Josh (and some good fortune for Walton) led to the second goal conceded. But still, as others have said, it is plain that without Ade we are a side with little cutting edge. I thought Archibold tried hard, but it really is clear that he is not up to the standard of this league. Put simply, we will not get near to the play offs without another quality striker. Ade, as was said at the start of the season, cannot be expected to play in every (or perhaps even in most) games. Yes good strikers are hard to come by and we doubtless will have to pay good money to bring one in; but a number of players have left who (I presume) were in the higher wage categories, so if there is money in hand it should be expended now. That would not just be a 'quick fix', because I think that much of what Dom has attempted is working - but we are still I think at least two maybe three players short of a fully competitive team that can play as Dom would wish and so keep us in the hunt in this season.
Dan I have seen Hastings United/Town/United again play more times than you have had hot dinners mate. Most of what I have seen in the past 2 to 3 years has been utter garbage. You should go to specsavers Dan.
I'm just wondering if anyone thought they saw a better midfielder on show today than Ronnie Dolan? Just can't work out why he was dropped after being a such a major part of Dom's first 2wins. And did we really try our very best to keep Jamahl?
The striker department does worry me and has worried me for a while but stick Razor, Keehan, Ade and a fit Vickers back in the side and we are not a million miles away. Just think we are all so disappointed with the performance today after a month without a home game and last weeks win.
Well why stop now? Following a nonleague team like us is never going to be easy, I'm
Sure you are of a age where you've racked up a good number of games which is to be applauded but you came across like a glory hunter in your post and do agree apart from the FA cup run the last few years have in general been very poor.
Even I must confess that it is getting harder and harder to keep watching these woeful performances over the past few seasons which are very lightly sprinkled with good wins.
Bitterly disappointing today and only one team wanted to win and they did.
Definitely poor today. Just wondering why Gaz judges on one performance and Barry instantly forgets last week. ( ok he posted to complain about the lack of match reports)
It was poor and with no desire. We all said that we would give Dom until the end of the season and up to today he had got 10 points out of 15 in the league. Thats not a bad haul.
Of course we should be disappointed today and I agree with John entirely, but Gaz - giving up on a team based on a poor performance seems a bit shallow to me. Barry - you have just said the same as someone called "Fawlty " on the other forum. Im sure its coincidence.
Poor performance today and we looked disinterested at times. Wont stop me following the team though. This is just the beginning of a long repair job.
Appreciate that comment at least, we have had quite a while to get prepared for it though with all the away games! Relevance is the most important thing for us tbh.
Highlights are uploading and should be ready by tomorrow morning, looks better the second time round to fe honest but the chances were there to be finished!
Pat,if you read my post I say most of what I have seen over the past 2 or 3 seasons. To my mind that is not based on 1 game. I would dearly love my local team, that I have supported through thick and mostly thin over the past 50 years, to be successful, or at least give me value for money in most games.
I am afraid that I still stick with what I have told you many times, that our beloved club will not have success with the current set-up.
I think my overriding worry here is that once again time is needed by Dom and we need to give it to him. Theres going to be some ups and downs on the way back im sure.I do agree with Barry that we have only had a smattering of good performances but lets see how the response is again next week - dont get me wrong, I was as disappointed as anyone yesterday and we all have a right to say how we feel . It was poor and why did we not have some under 21s at least filling the bench gaps?
Gaz - I enjoy our chats but still maintain that this is an issue that the manager and he alone has to address. He has full board support in this and I just hope supporters also give him time.
I very much agree with Pat. Dom needs time. I think a great deal of what Dom has done thus far has been spot on. It seems to me though that there are currently at least two or three points which we as supporters can usefully make by way of constructive criticism / comment: in my view we need a quality central striker in addition to Ade; it was unfortunate we were not able to retain Ronnie Dolan; we need to ensure we do not lose any more of our more experienced players without a suitable replacement; and we should not have only three substitutes on the bench for a competitive match.
Whilst not being able to comment on yesterday, there are definitely worrying signs, I think most of us would say squad is weaker now than on Sept 1st, we have county league players in plenty. But not the Ryman players we had earlier in the season. From what I read if players arent giving 100% why is this? Has Dom bitten off more than he can chew? Yes we must give him time and most of us will if players all try, but if they don't the same old questions will reappear. I still believe that if Dom cant turn it round no one can.
