After a promising start and the first game and win under Dom Di Paola we now have to play
East Grinstead Town has done a lot on his rebuilding of their football ground :Floodlights were installed in 1997 and a new drainage system laid in 2003 that has transformed the playing surface, which is now one of the best in Sussex.
In 2008 two new stands and a pitch perimeter barrier were erected and in 2014 with the GAC Stadium already meeting the requirements of the Ryman Football League after installing additional seating, the club began work on a new dressing room and hospitality complex, a new turnstile block and entrance and a resurfaced car park. Part of the 2014 funding included a £50,000 grant from FA Cup sponsors Budweiser, £100,000 from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, £40,000 from Mid Sussex District Council and £35,000 from SITA Trust.
Manager Funnell’s side finished the season in second place, their highest ever County League position, and in May 2014, the club were accepted into the Ryman League for the first time in our history.
The club has four adult teams and five junior sides ranging in age from under- 11s to under-18s which is planned to be greatly expanded for the 2014/15 season. They were awarded the prestigious FA Standard Chartered Development Club award in 2003 and were registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club in 2005.
They played already 16 games this season and got 11 points. Played 8 games at home; won 2 and lost 6. Scored in their 16 games 19 and conceded 41, the highest in the League.
They play their games at:The GAC Stadium, East Court, College Lane, East Grinstead, RH19 3LS
And we ?!! In the first half against Guernsey we were struggling and i think we were happy that it was 1-1. The second half we turned things for the better and scored 3 goals. There were some changes in the team; a starting place for Marc Pullan and the other two new signings Kevin Keehan and Mitchell Hand got playing time in the second half. Other nice aspect of the game was obvious that Kenny Pogue scored a hat trick .
I think this game is a must win; not alone for getting away from the relegation zone but also that we have a better team.
Hope a lot of the U's supporters will make the trip and see a second win under Dom and new management team.
Fantastic 2nd half performance !!!! Great team play, fantasyic passing and great spirit from all !!!! Well played goals as well !!!
I thought sittingbourne were a moaning bunch but this East Grinstead lot are up there with them , their keeper getting a foul then acting like a caveman resulted in him getting booked !!!!
Havent had worse ref and lino's since Hendon couple yeara ago, no way deserve their badges, abdolute joke !!!!
Any way , the lads did well against east grinstead and the officials and to come back and win it is making mu journey home the most enjoyable this season!!!!
Was not perfect YET ! but great comeback, well taken goals and so good to see them play the ball around on the floor, and not just banging long high balls down the centre, good game, MORE PLEASE.
Missed the first 10 mins, the 7:30 kick off threw us and parking seemed a devil!!
Great performance. The thing I like most is the passing, knocking it around and the patience. Even at 1-0 down, we still passed it around, and at no point in the 2nd half did Dom and the coaches feel the need to go more direct. Credit has to be given for that. Looked solid at the back again, and East Grinsteads goal was a nice free kick. Other than that, they didn't create a thing from open play. Not even worth commenting on the ref/lino.
2 out of 2 and 7 goals. Couldn't have started better for Dom.
