After a 90th minute goal we lost against Grays Athletic in the FA Cup but we now meet FolkestoneInvicta.JPG

We all remember last year : Folkestone had two  wins over Hastings in the final few weeks of last season, first beating us 2-1 in the league game with goals from Sam Adams and  Chappell  and  Ter Horst, and then just lost 3-2 in the play-off semi-final thanks to an unfortunate own goal in extra time from Ferguson after the sides ended a tight game level at 2-2 .

This year Folkestone is on place 11 with 16 points out of 10 games.

And we ? After a unfortunately defeat against Grays it is now League Time ! We have to get results under the reign of Nigel Kane because play-offs are out of sight.

Hope we can get a fully fit squad back because it showed that Saturday we didn't have to many options .

Expecting a lot of supporters and a good game!

Not particularly confident about tonight's game although Folkestone not in the greatest of form themselves and struggling to score like us, despite the excellent Taylor and Draycott up top. The players looked completely shattered at the end of the Saturday's game with Cook, Dolan and Ade in particular out on their feet. Should have Kenny back and I see Woodley scored 4 for Ringmer on Saturday. Hopefully Razor will also be fit and a rumour circulating on Saturday about a return for Tom? Surely not but if so what a boost for the team and supporters. Just worry what Saturday took out of the players. Squad too small and too many players seem to be playing with knocks at the moment. Would settle for a point tonight and can see a boring 0-0 looming on the horizon.

Can anyone see us getting 3 points tonight or is a draw more likely, more commitment needed from some players especially getting down the wings and making a decent cross to Add and Frankie. Hope Shaun if fit to allow Tim to go further forward where we need him! Didn't like Taser pulling out of 50,50 challenges, can get injured doing that! Good luck tonight Hastings, feel we may need it. Hope we make more use of subs tonight, can win the game!

We now have to seriously consider that we are now in a relegation battle and have no chance of promotion. County league! What has happened to my team? just very, very sad at the moment. Nothing more to add.

3 successive home defeats against mid table sides is most definitely relegation form. Surely we're not going to be involved in such a scrap in THIS league are we ? This is almost unthinkable.......but some radical strengthening is clearly needed if we are going to stay up.

Clear out needed from top to bottom right now, before it is too late.Really not sure what players we should keep, they are an embarrassment.Staring at County League football now.Don't think that's an exaggeration.

I'm always always trying to be positive about the teams I support (Being a West Ham fan it's hard!). I have to say I've got nothing positive at all about this current team. A shambles from the back to the front. Long balls up to Frankie who will not win headers, Ade is the easiest player to mark, no movement at all. The whole team looks a complete shambles. As JohnW said, it's sad to see our local team in decline like this.

Hard to believe tonights match was a play off semi final some 5 months ago . . .

I thought the first half performance reasonable though ominously short of real scoring chances. But the second half ........Well, another really bad display before the home supporters. Of course players were tired after Saturday (no game for Folkestone that day); but we ran out of steam and ideas so completely that it was again a surrender to an adequate but by no means exceptional opposition. Goodness knows what a prospective new management team can do to turn this around. It really is blank sheet of paper time.

Think its the formation that's wrong we are too short of numbers in midfield. We need to play 4-5-1 or 3-5-2, and pick the best players for the formation not the best 10 as for Kane and stapley could they not see we were getting overun and changes were required or is it they didn't care.

No, we won't be relegated.
Trust me.
But we need a change soon. I think it is a mental issue. We know they can play football.

Not going to be critical of anybody in case I upset fellow supporters and I cannot comment on the game because I wasn't there. All I'll say is that our position tells it's own story. Unthinkable or not, Arundel's nice this time of year, and you can visit the castle and make a day of it. Either things change and we improve, or that's on the list of where we're heading. It's as serious as that and not funny. What is happening to our team??

first half even, second half did not turn up. lost to another average side that just more organised and wanted it more which happens more ofeten this season. agree blank sheet of paper, new manager needed not Kane need someone as think chrisb said that dont know players and can rebuild with new ideas. think a lot of players will go as no point spending more money on this season as even play off spot is looking unlikely. just cant beleive it.

Again superior speed and passing of visiting team did for Hastings! Why do our fitness levels never seem good enough, pitch was damp tonight, there goes another theory! Positives? difficult to find any, most players are trying hard but team seems rudderless so we need a strong tactical new manager or all is lost this season, best chance of seeing a win is going to away matches where players seem under less pressure! See you faithfull travellers at 3 Bridges.

Neil Cugley now in his 18th season as Folkstone manager-this can only help a club to develop over period of time. He's managed to see off a number of chairmen. Would have been very helpful to any new manager to have Terry as an assistant for the sake of continuity and progression. Why was this rejected? Only trophy likely to be in our boardroom is for the best pitch in the league-which is where our priorities seem to lie. Our brilliant pitch must be a godsend to visiting teams who probably play their best football of the season at the Pilot Field. Thought Folkstone would good last night- all our players battled well and hope they keep together to see through this difficult patch.

Whilst fantastic to see Tom back, really do hope it's not far too early for him... Thought he was due to return in late Dec / Jan?

To see him back in Sept is very surprising indeed, I'm sure he is desperate to play and feels & did look fit but massively hope he's not going to cause himself an even worse injury by rushing back...

Dan think you are right about Tom, know its rich coming from me, but he looked overweight which must increase risk of repeat injury.

I shared the concern about Tom and i did ask but apparently a doctor has cleared him to play. His weight will come down quite quickly now he's training again . I know when I train the weight drops off...

I'm not seeing a lot of evidence that the current squad are more talented ! I'd love to see Danny Ellis and Jack Dixon back. They enjoy running at the opposition, score goals, and make things happen. Might actually be worth paying to watch.

i disagree with most you say. yes opinions and you can say your one. agree we need manager to be a long time at club. with way team play and lack of passion things not right. may be players dont get on but only way to sort out is a total change. our budget must be biggest in league and we in releggation fight, board and supporters not getting value. continuity i think is last thing we want! total change in management needed only players with passion to stay. dont get pitch blame, weather surface good or bad same for both side. excuses when its bumpy that hard to play so when it good we still cant pass and ffs why long balls to frankie.folkestone were up for it and lot more together than us, we look like 11 individuals not a team.
we have bankole on bench last night who can change game but we bring on a player that has not play for 5 month. tom a good player but that sub was stupid. woodley score 4 goals on saturday and he is there watching and not on bench. its shambles

He may have been in charge 18 years but this is their 4th straight season in Ryman South and they should also be higher as well with a decent fanbase & ground.

Folkestone was my best away ground & fans of the season last time and in a better universe both clubs should be Ryman Prem or even above.

You`re right Dan, 18 years and where are they, and they may have won last night but it was nothing to shout about, some of their finishing was dreadful (thankfully!), I don`t see them rocking any boats.

Possibly not the best arguement in the case for a long term manager although I do accept the stability point! Im also sick and tired of hearing that line about the pitch - not because it is being said Tim, but because we should be loving playing on it as well and i dont understand how any team cannot play on that surface. Not going to comment on who should come or go for obvious reasons but I do hope things turn round soon. As Peter rightly says Boards and supporters not getting value for their money in certain areas.

Well it seems Like Deja-vu ,we seemed to play exactly the same as we did last monday when we lost to Tooting when Terry was in charge, same formation, same old tactics and same old long high balls up to Frankie that their defenders head away every time, same old crosses from Taser to the near post with no one there that their defenders clear every time, no movement or pace in midfield, players just standing around ball watching.
As Nigel is caretaker manager now he must be picking the team/tactics and formation and it makes me wonder how much influence he had when Terry was in charge as nothing has changed as far as I could see.
Thats why I hope Nigel doesn't get the job and like someone previously said we need a manager from outside who doesn't know the players personally who can inject fresh ideas with experience and can turn things around.
I know I have said it before but I don't like playing on a Monday Night,we had a tough away match on Saturday and I presume most of the players have to work as well,I just think that another 24 hours recovery time would make all the difference as a lot of them last night looked tired.

But we have dropped a place to 20th. At the moment we have to realise we are in a relegation scrap already.
