Our fifth game of the pre-season campaign will be against relegated Eastbourne Town :
On their return to Division One Town achieved were fifth in 2004 and, after two further seasons of consolation, the League Championship was again secured in 2007 and with it came promotion into Division One (South) of the Ryman Isthmian League, the club having only to complete minor works after pursuing an on-going programme of ground improvements. One of a small number of clubs in Sussex to hold the prestigious F.A. Community Club status; ETFC received a reprieve from relegation in 2010. Subsequently, the club worked hard to retain its place in the Ryman League but despite finishing in eleventh place in 2013 a bottom place finish in 2014 saw them relegated back to the County League.
They have a few ex- Hastings players in the squad and some of them scored in their last friendlies they played. McLean,Darby and Henson scored one goal in a 4 - 0 win against Little Common. And Pogue scored 3 and Ellis one in a 6-0 win over Saltdean United. And in a 4-2 win over Tunbridge Wells Pogue scored 2 and Mc Lean one.
I think it will be a interesting game ; not only for the amount of ex- Hastings players, the result there from last year but more a clash between neighbors who neither want to loose this game.
Very disappointed in Hastings United. No respect shown to Eastbourne Town management or players.Lets hope higher placed team when playing Hastings do the same to them.POOR SHOW.
I thought pre season was all about giving all players a run out including under 21 players. Gillingham were going to send a development squad this weekend as they did last year, so it's happened to us as well - it's happens and I'm sure was not a case of disrespecting anyone Deliberately but having said that it is disappointing for all who attended not to see more first team players

well done terry for giving the youngsters a turnout, no manager can be at all matches to see what the club has so pre-season friendlies are perfect to see what is out there for themselves and not hearsay from others every team needs back-up from reserves,u18's and u21's etc.
Don't see what the problem is, Terry can play who he wants in friendlies. I wonder if Eastbourne showed the same respect when looking at certain players pre season? If I remember right DC, you were very critical of Hastings after the league game last season but not a lot since. Hidden agenda me thinks.
I didn't see game yesterday as working but I have to agree with majority I think it was a good idea to play the under 21 as they will be our cover if we get injurys which we all know is more than likely so good on TW shame there's no game Saturday
I can see both sides of the story here and the way I see it is that it was disappointing that some of the players who haven't had as much game time pre season could of benefited from some minutes last night, the likes of those who didn't play on Saturday could of had 45 minutes and probably 90 tomorrow. The fact Gillingham pulling out has obviously had an impact on Terry's plans but let's remember that we are just over a week away from the start of the season and last night was game two of a planned four this week and as the week went on and if we were playing Gillingham you would like to have seen the squads playing get stronger as we approached the start of the season.
I do agree that its Terry's decision to field who he likes in friendlies they are exactly that friendlies and have no other benefit than to get players match fit, players looked at and try different scenarios. I feel for those who went last night expecting to see a few of the first team players but when all said and done the fixture is advertised as a Hastings XI.
I thought bright looks a good star to be just had no quality around him, Rodgers looks like he was found in a pub, hoping he prove me wrong, thought bailo looked good as well but that's it
