The fourth game in the pre-season campaign and the first away is against Southern Counties East Football League team
Sevenoaks F.C. was originally formed in 1883 and was amongst the founder members of the original Kent League, although they left the league after just one season. It is known that on 26 April 1893 they played Royal Arsenal, who were at the time the only professional team in the South of England, with over 1,000 spectators watching the game.In 1906 the club, now known as Sevenoaks Town, became one of the founder members of the Sevenoaks League. In 1951 Town amalgamated with another local club, St. John’s United, and became members of the Kent Amateur League (Western Region), which they won on two occasions. In 1984 the Kent Amateur League was re-organised as the Kent County League, and Sevenoaks were the first Premier Division champions, a feat they repeated in seasons 1995–96 and 2002–03.In 2003 the club stepped up to the Kent League, where, despite the step up to a significantly higher standard of football, they finished a commendable 11th in their first two seasons. After a 7th place finish in 2010–11, the manager departed and was replaced by Darren Anslow, who had managed the reserve side of Cray Wanderers to a double in the previous season, alongside managing the Wands' academy, a position he'll retain whilst at Sevenoaks. Current manager is Micky Collins.
They play at Greatness Park
After our 3 home games this will be the first away and hopefully the team will continue to play like they did last Tuesday against Eastbourne which ended after a great display the second half 2-2. Dave Cook scored both goals.
I don't think we should go into this game complacent, Sevenoaks drew with Maidstone this pre season, what sort of side Maidstone put out? I don't know however if we go about our game the way we have so far this pre season we should be in for an entertaining game.
Just one little footnote doesn't that stand above look like Sidleys old stand?
They have drawn at home to Maidstone United 1-1, Lost at Home to Dover Athletic 0-2, and they Beat AFC Uckfield away 1-2 in their pre-season friendlies so far, so I don't think we can be too complacent.
4 key players out today and a couple of trial lists in- scorching weather and a mix up for the goal. Add in two disallowed goals that were clearly poor decisions and it sums up the afternoon. Thought Sevenoaks were quite decent today. One of those days really!
Looking at the Match Highlights It looks as if the first Disallowed goal by Frankie was offside as the Linesman was flagging on the far side.
Also the second disallowed goal I can only assume the Hastings player was penalised for climbing on the Sevenoaks Defenders back to head the ball in.
