After the 0-1 defeat on Tuesday night against Whitehawk our second match at The Pilot Field will be against :
The Ryman Premier League side played their first match against Brighton and Hove and lost for a crowd of 2400 ( ! ) 0-5.
Yesterday evening they lost against Sussex League division one Hassocks 2-1.
Manager of The Rooks is Gary Wilson: One of the most celebrated figures in Sussex non-league football, having led Eastbourne Borough from the Sussex County League to the Conference Premier Division. Spent the majority of his playing career in his native Scotland, but after moving south to Hastings Town his playing days were cruelly cut short at just 26. Subsequently moved through the ranks of the Hastings Town coaching staff, culminating in a Sussex Senior Cup win as manager before moving to Borough.
And Hastings : let's hope Terry and the boys will perform just how they did on Tuesday but hopefully they will score a goal ( or two )
Excellent performance from Hastings today and just about deserved the win for their 2nd half performance. Apart from the mistake for the penalty I though Rose, King and Ray were fantastic at the back, Dolan had his best performance in a Hastings shirt and I thought in Sam Adams, Hastings had the best player on the pitch. His fitness and work rate in that heat was incredible. Even the subs did well when they came on and with Shaw (if he signs), Cook, Crutwell and Ade Olorunda all missing, Terry's most difficult decision may be who to leave out the squad this year. Very impressive and great start to pre season.
Can't disagree I thought that the result today was well deserved, almost thought that Lewes, apart from the penalty never really created any guilt edge chance to score. Sam had a fantastic effort well saved at the start of the second half which I thought was the start of us enjoying the better of play.
In Razor, Kingy and Rosey we really have a solid base for a defence, I too thought Bryce Masters had a good game made some good tackles when needed and probably his best game for us so far. I thought a little tweeking needed in the defence due to the fact Josh having to come to the rescue on two occasions first the pen and second the challenge outside the box resulting in him getting booked.
I am pleased in what I've seen so far against higher ranked opposition and hope that we can maintain that standard on Tuesday night.
Good game, looked pretty sharp against another higher level team and impressed that we are matching these teams so far. Sevenoaks away on Sat will show how we do against lower ranked sides, would hope for a good win there.
Seeing the Highlights for the third time i wonder why Josh was still on the pitch after 90 minutes. The penalty ( yellow ) and the second half challenge ( at least yellow ) should have sent him off. Or am i wrong?
