Darby was our best player start of season until his illness were was out for few weeks never came back same player shame sure he be back in our league soon
Dan, I beg to differ regarding Danny Ellis. I know he had some off performances on occasion last season; but he had some exceptional ones too. I would have still seen him as a potential first choice for a mid field role in our (very exciting) emerging squad. When he was on the bench last season I always felt there was at least one potential good substitution to be made......
But like you, I of course wish him well at Eastbourne Town; and, again, this is all about TW's team building - he has difficult decisions to make and some desirable players have to go to allow the creation of a viable squad of his choice.
I have always been a big Danny fan. Was fantastic 2 seasons ago and rightly won the player of the season award. Last season he was disappointing, but then apart from Josh, who wasn't. Would have been a useful squad player next season and would rather have than have not, but confident we will replace him with even better quality in the midfield areas.
Matt, as has already been pointed out by Stevie, was never the same after his early season illness. Good potential, but lacks pace and goals from midfield (just 3 in 46 appearances). Think he would have struggled to make the squad next year based on the signings we have already made.
I think what this will mean now is that TW will need another couple of signings in midfield. With no Tom until Xmas, that leaves the midfield a little light on numbers with Taser, Timmy, Cooky, Adams and Crutwell. Was Eldridge a one off signing for the play off? How about ex player Aaron Rhule from Merstham. Was fantastic against us last season, full of pace and scored 16 goals from midfield. Or how about Fabio Saraiva up at Maidstone. Great player, who seems to spend most of his Maidstone career out on loan or on the bench.
Don't get me started on bloody full backs Dave. Didn't want to state the obvious. Terry knows he needs to fill these 2 positions and I believe he has been working on both just recently. Would like to see 2 full backs, 2 midfielders and Ben Judge sign and then I think we will be ready. I feel Ben is important as there is no cover if Razor or King get injured although Timmy did a reasonable job at the end of last season. Still think Sammy Adams can do a job at right back if need be but Steve Elliot would be the ideal signing.
We cannot seriously consider Andy Henson as cover for those two can we? He looked seriously below par for a lot of the season, but had a lot of injury problems, so perhaps deserves the benefit of the doubt. Had the balls to stay and fight for his place so hope he proves me wrong.
Think Henson will likely be one of the various full back options rather than a CB although he like Tim can do a job there. I expect Terry to get another proper CB in as well as probably 2 full backs. Henson can cover any position along the back line so a good squad option.
Would have liked to see Danny, Matt & Greg all stay as part of the squad but think all 3 would rather be starting games regularly which i expect they will all get at Eastbourne Town.
I believe Ben Judge just missed out on the Tonbridge manager's job. Hope he stays with us -no substitute for his experience and ability. Ben would still be my first choice centre half - especially after after watching Sean having a couple of iffy games for Eastbourne at the end of last season.
