Welcome back Sean! Never should have left in the first place and another great addition to the squad whatever anyone says. And well done TW for clearly working bloody hard in shaping next years squad so soon after the end of the season. Josh, Tom and Frankie to go, closely followed, hopefully, by 2 full backs, a playmaker and another striker. Happy days
U's boss Terry White has today confirmed that he has agreed a deal that will hopefully see former Club captain and player/manager Sean Ray back in a claret and blue shirt next season.
The centre back is a veteran of just over 300 appearances for United since making his debut in August 2004, and has scored forty-two goals in his two spells at the Pilot Field.
Twice voted the supporters' Player of the Year, he stepped into the managerial hotseat in October 2011 and led the Club on its unforgettable run to the third round of the FA Cup the following season, although the league campaign ultimately ended in relegation after an horrendous fixture pile-up in the final few weeks.
Ray left the Club on the eve of last season and, after recovering from a knee operation, turned out for Kingstonian and Peacehaven & Telscombe in the Ryman League, while also becoming involved in another glorious cup adventure, as part of the Eastbourne United Association side that reached the semi-finals of the FA Vase.
White explained, "I had a two hour meeting with Razor last week, and we discussed a multitude of issues regarding his possible return to the Club. We managed to find some solutions and I am very happy that he has agreed to help our promotion push."
Two more key members of White's 2013/14 squad have also pledged their futures to the U's, with Taser Hassan and Sam Adams both accepting terms to remain at the Club. Hassan quickly endeared himself to home supporters with a number of eye-catching performances down the right flank, while Adams continued to display the extraordinary versatiliy that has been the trademark of his 344 appearances in two stints with United, and is also closing in on a century of goals for the Club.
