What are your predictions? I thought Folkestone were a strong outfit on Tuesday and could give Leatherhead a run for their money. I'm going 2-1 Folkestone in front of a crowd of 600 - most of whom will be coming from the Kent Coast
Although I enjoyed the Folkestone game on Tuesday night and especially the great friendly banter with their fans I think Leatherhead deservered to go up . Yes they had 6 points deducted but people also forget about their mid season crisis when their ground was totally flooded after the rivers nearby to their ground burst their banks . I'm not sure how they dealt with that ? Can you imagine how that would have deflected from their aim to get out of this god damn awful league ,,,so yeah well done to them !!!!
Decided to head over to Folkestone for an end of season football fix yesterday.....could not help thinking that if we had beaten Folkestone the other night we would have been promoted. Leatherhead were pretty average and Folkestone looked tired and lethargic after the previous game against the U's. Nowhere near as exciting as Tuesdays game with Folkestone only having about 3 scoring opportunities all game, that said Leatherhead defended well as Folkestone continued to pump high balls into the air.....as for penalties Folkestone were poor and only scored once...good crowd of 1200 plus and Leatherhead bought down a sizeable and vocal contingent.....but came away feeling how close HUFC were to being promoted....if only???
I guess one thing that can be said of Folkestone. You definitely get more minutes for your money! Looking forward to playing them again next season. Leatherhead pulled it out of the hat and did well to recover from the flood. I know they had an appeal fund, but who knows how long it will take to dry and repair the clubhouse completely. Water damage tends to hang around a long time. Good luck to them
Interesting and rather sad to read on the Folkestone forum that for many of the genuine fans, the afternoon was spoilt by a small number of drunken youths who behaved appallingly at the match. The feeling was that they had never been to a game before and simply went to get drunk and make a nuisance of themselves. Many of the genuine Folkestone fans were both upset and embarrassed by these idiots. There was nothing but praise for the Hastings supporters and, in the main, the Leatherhead supporters were not involved in what went on. How sad for the genuine Folkestone fans who had to put up with this. Worth a read on the Folkestone forum.
